After enjoying our meal, the bill came with a notice of a surcharge if we used a credit card to pay. This was very surprising, and there was no notice of this on the front door or on the menu. Honestly, I felt this was a very classless thing to do. While I understand costs may be rising, a surcharge like this is something I find unacceptable, especially when it is tacked onto a meal at the very end of the night. I wouldn't have minded menu price increases to cover the restaurant's additional costs, but adding something like this is sneaky and insulting to your customers. In 2022, using credit cards is just the cost of doing business. After this experience, I'll be sure to not dine there again in the future. So, while you may have saved about $5 last night by charging me this surcharge, you're losing $100+ in revenue every time I would've dined there in the future. Quality of food seems to be on a downward spiral fast and we will NOT be going back. My family and I had dinner their a couple weeks back (Saturday night) and ordered our usual which is the mussels in red and white along with some other dishes. When the mussels came out we were just about to eat them when we noticed these "crab like creatures" in the mussels. My wife and I were extremely grossed out and we showed the waitress what was apparently living on the mussels themselves. Her reaction was the same as ours, disgust! She immediately took the mussels off the bill and apologized. At this point you would think a manger will come over talk to us, apologize or whatever. Nope! The manager never came over... nothing! What were the crabs called in our mussels you ask? They are called Pea Crabs, which are parasites and live off mussel, oysters, clams and other species. Feel free to Google it. This place is great. I've been several times and everything has always been amazing, including the service. The salad dressing is my favorite ever... The garlic rolls they serve to each table are amazing. Every time both my dinner and the dinners of the people I went with have been great. Definitely a nice little Italian spot. If you like veal that tastes chewy, shrimp in your fra- diavlo that tastes like leather, and so much garlic in your white wine pasta sauce that it overtakes the entire dish and all you can taste is garlic, than this place is for you. It pains me to give this restaurant even one star. The only half decent dish was the eggplant rollatini appetizer and even that had way too much ricotta in it. The ricotta overtook the entire plate. This is NOT authentic Italian food. After receiving our appetizer it took almost 40 minutes to actually get our entrees and one dish came out with the wrong pasta sauce, which took another 10 minutes. Maybe we should have kept the wrong sauce, perhaps it would have tasted better than the puddle of garlic we ended up with. Needless to say, we will NOT be back! read more

I'm changing my previously high review as I just had a bad experience. Recently went and got take out. Bread tasted weird and yeasty and I ended up getting a bad headache and cough after eating because I'm allergic to high levels of yeast and mold (most breads don't bother me as long as they're baked correctly, this was not). Additionally it was supposed to be garlic bread but there was no garlic on it (I guess someone forgot?). The chicken was an odd consistency and fatty, sauce lacked flavor (penne vodka w/chicken was what I had). My mom had fettucine alfredo with chicken and had similar issues with bad chicken and sauce lacking flavor--specifically lacking the usual cheese/parmesan flavor you would expect. They used to be wonderful but in addition to the food going downhill the wait for eating in/taking out only get longer and longer and the prices aren't as good as they used to be, I believe they've gone up. I wish things would go back to the way they were about a year ago, but I don't see that happening and I'm not likely to go back again. What a shame! read more

So I should start by saying the place smells delicious! The problem is the staff is rude and not very good at their job in terms of hostessing and customer service. My friend called to make our reservation and they were rude to her on the phone because they dont take reservations on weekend. Its just bad management to not do reservations for large parties, that is in everyones best interest. So I called back right before we left and asked how long the wait is for a party of 12, the woman on the phone said no wait come right over so I did. I only live 3/4 of a mile from the restraunt and I left immediately. 5 minutes later I show up and the wait is 1 hour. When I mentioned I had just called her response was "well people just trickled in after you called, and it IS Saturday". There is no way all of those people came in after my call. Then the gentleman waiting next to me said that for his party of 3 he was told 35 minute wait and that was 15 minutes ago. To recap 10 minutes before I called there was a 35 minute wait for a small party then I call and its no wait. When I show up its suddenly an hour. They had no sympathy and were honestly quite short with us when discussing the issue. The food could be great but with this type of service I dont know if I will ever know. read more

After reading some of the below reviews, either we went to a completely different restaurant OR the people reviewing with 5 stars don't know good, authentic Italian food. I was here about two years ago for my birthday. The food then was decent, but nothing to write home about. Because the place my boyfriend and I were going to head to was closed (shame, because THAT was good authentic Italian), we settled on here. We were seated in the "dining" room area and the hostess told us about it being Wine Wednesday, so we selected a glass and took a look over the menu. We were introduced to our server, and we were later introduced to another server. It took a while to get an order in and there was hardly anyone in the place. My boyfriend went with the baked penne and I went with the gnocchi because they don't offer a gluten free pasta option (poor in my opinion since so many people have a gluten allergy but want to still enjoy a "pasta" variety). The boyfriend's baked penne was dry and burnt and the sauce tasted out of a jar, but we were so hungry, he ate it. My gnocchi on the other hand was over cooked and mush in the mouth. I swapped it out for the lobster ravioli which was ok but the sauce had a metallic taste. While i was waiting for my new meal, the bus boy came over and tried taking my boyfriends plate (he was waiting for my food to come out to be a gentleman). It took forever to flag someone down to get him some water though. We definitely said this will be a last time. read more

I really enjoy coming to this restaurant. I love that they bring out garlic knots to get you started while looking over the menu... so yummy. Their baked penne, lasagna, and pizza are all delicious. The calamari was pretty good but I felt could have used a little more flavor. Portions are smaller than what you'd expect, but it fills you up. I'd rather have a smaller portion of something delicious than a big portion of mediocre food. I enjoy the atmosphere in there because it's not too loud and it's on the smaller side which I really like. It's the type of restaurant where I can finish my dinner and still sit at my table for another half hour or so just talking the night away. You can't do that at many restaurants, so it's a great place to go with friends yiu haven't seen in a while! Oh and a big plus is that it's BYOB! read more

I have driven past this place a million times and didn't know it was a restaurant...I assumed it was a shoe store A friend told me I had to check it out and I'm so glad that I did! The garlic knots were a great start, so fresh and yummy! We started with the stuffed mushrooms as an app and they were the best I've ever had. Next we had Caesar salads, also delicious. For my meal I ordered the homemade gnocchi in a vodka sauce. At this point I was stuffed from the knots, mushrooms and salad but j couldn't not eat what was in front of me, it was that good! Okay - for the last 3-4 years we've been getting the girls together for a holiday dinner. Why this place? It's BYOB. We were so sick and tired of arranging to get everyone together, making the date and time work, having mediocre food, drinks and the bill being astronomical. At From the Boot, they are all around A+++. Excellent food, bring your own drink(s), save room for desert and the best part is, it's affordable. This past holiday season, we made our girls night out an "ugly Christmas sweater dinner". we got lots of looks but who cares - we had a blast and it's something we always remember and talk about. First time take out customer and I really loved it. I ordered the shrimp fra diavolo and mom got the eggplant parm. Both were excellent and had plenty of pasta and sauce. The food was very good, and the garlic rolls were a pleasant surprise. Between me and the two people I was with we ordered the Gnocci, Veal Parm, and the pasta special. All of us were satisfied with the food. The biggest issue we did have is that the portions were a bit small for the price we ended up paying. If the portions were a bit bigger or the price a bit smaller we would have been happier. In the end, I left satisfied with the quality on the food. Fabulous fresh and great prices on lunch menu. I had the grilled shrimp and spinach salad which was quite honestly the best salad I've ever had. All simple fresh ingredients like i would make at home. The mussel app was the LARGEST succulent mussels in a homemade red sauce I have ever seen or tasted. Yummy ! I am gluten free and the only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is they should consider putting a gluten free crust on the menu. A wood fired pizza oven should have that option. Tried from the boot based on a friends recommendation. We weren't so sure by the staff demeanor but rolled with it and were glad we did. If you want something besides fountain drinks you should bring it yourself. This is a BYOB place. So onto fresh rolls which are worth the wait for them alone. Garlic olive oil and cheese on a crunch doughy pull apart roll...this does not serve it justice. Brush eta was next a bowl came with perfectly toasted crossing and a tasty tomato mixture for you to spoon on yourself keeping it all perfect and not soggy. Pizza carne was well recieved by my husband while I got chicken siciliano with linguine instead of roasted potato. I was happy to have the pasta to soak up the tasty Madeira sauce. While the chicken did not look amazing it was tasty. I did leave wishing the mozzarella had been melted some as it was cold but the chicken was cooked perfectly. My fiance and I, along with my parents, visited the Blue Bell location for the first time over the weekend. The service was excellent and the food came out fairly quickly after placing our orders. I had the gnocchi, which was light and pillowy; the sauce was creamy without being heavy. My fiance had the lasagna, which came out bubbling from the oven; his only criticism was that it lacked flavor and had wished for more oregano, basil, etc. I tried a bit of my mother's shrimp scampi, and it was garlicky and delicious and my father devoured his chicken parm, saying it was excellent. All in all, this is a great small Italian spot, that serves up some classic eats. BYOB. Definitely recommend for a nice evening out if you are looking for some Italian comfort food! They have a pizza oven as well, but I can't comment on how the pizza is. We'll have to go back to try it out! read more
