The best veggie burger and turkey burger I have EVER had. This restaurant is locally owned and operated by the most wonderful family who truly care about their customers and it shows! The decor is so too wonderful to describe, you have to see it for yourself and you will see what heart and soul was put into every aspect of the design. Set u top the hill behind The Inn at Mills Falls....with the brook running right under the restaurant, sit out back in the three season porch and listen to the water flow and watch the kids fish! This was my second time here. The first time was a disaster. This time was good and I will return again based on this visit. Tonight I returned despite the last visit. Pros - good happy hour. Good food. Reasonable prices. Cons - none this visit, but just about everything last visit. (Wrong food twice, served beer that wasn't ordered, food took forever, and they should have at least comped the unordered beer after the food mess and wait). All that said, the place has a charm or vibe that had me wanting to give it a second shot. Very glad that I did! Came here for lunch with some family after a reunion on the lake got cancelled due to snow and high winds over Memorial Day weekend (thank you, global warming!). Walking through the door, my first thought was that this place is very cool: very small-town NH feel with exposed plank floors and bar tables with white birch legs that are built right into the wall. The menu is pretty solid with the standard pub fare plus a few interesting twists. I got a BBQ pulled pork sandwich with caramelized onion and cheese that was so good I wanted to curl up inside it and take a nap, and the fries were thick-cut and crispy -- perfect. We also got some buffalo chicken dip that was excellent as an appetizer, and my cousins had high marks for the Philly steak subs and veggie burgers as well (the veggie patty had actual discernible vegetables in it and looked to have been made on site, which was nice to see). The only drawbacks? Well, the waitress was mildly surly (though it was more amusing than annoying) and the food took quite a while to come out, though it was worth the wait. The prices were decent and the food was good enough that I'll definitely stop by here again if the rescheduled reunion in July also gets snowed out. :-P read more

The service was really poor and the food wasn't great either. My order was wrong, they took forever to bring out our apps, and they were completely insensitive about my brother's anaphylactic dairy allergy. Would definitely not go back, especially if you have a serious food allergy. read more

Don't rush here... Service while polite was poor. We started out ok. We ordered chips and salsa and the salsa was excellent. It went down hill from there. Our meals took an hour to get to us. They said the kitchen was backed up. Not sure how, wasn't overly busy. When the food arrived it was ice cold. I had the french onion soup, it was ok and the chicken stir fry. Chicken came out of a bag and was tough as rubber. Their answer was cover the stir fry in sauce that was too sweet and tasted like it came out of a jar. I will say we told them the food was cold and they did discount the bill 20% without a request or expectation of such. read more

This place is great! We were in town for a wedding and had some time to kill until the afternoon ceremony, so we came here for lunch. A great pub atmosphere with a good selection of beer on tap. For lunch we got the clam chowder - bursting with flavour. GF got the veggie burger and proclaimed it the best ever. I got the regular burger and that was fantastic. Attentive service (she saw us on the iPad and told us about the free WiFi) and when we left something on the table, the bartender came out after us to return it to us - now that's great service. read more

Terrible slow service... two of us ordered a burger and shepherds pie. Waited about 40 minutes and all that was brought out was one salad.... the second one never came out and we got up and paid for what we had eaten and left before the rest of the order came out.... the sign in the front that said "cook wanted" should have tipped us off. read more

First and last visit. The food was mediocre, don't get chicken Parmesan unless you like rubbery disgusting chicken. Service was extremely slow but the owner should staff accordingly on a holiday weekend. The poor girl was nice but very overworked looking as though she was the only there. After being seated, it took 20 minutes to order drinks but another 30 to take our food order and yet another 45 to get the food. AND we didn't even get served the same time. One in our party had to wait for the rubbery chicken to come out of the microwave. What a waste of money and our time. read more

My wife and I grabbed a bite at Frog Rock Tavern Sunday night and was incredibly disappointed in one of their items on the Menu. It was a special for the night, Swordfish Kaboob. My wife ordered it and couldn't continue after one bite, so I tried it, giving her my Cassadia. I have an iron stomach and couldn't take it. We complained to the waitress and she didn't offer any condolence. There was no tip for her that night for the first time in my life. Good local restaurant. Food is quite tasty. French onion soup has a great beefy broth taste. Shepherds Pie is good. Very filling with tons of beef and vegetables. Panini was very good. I'd stay away from the chicken fingers. They were very dry. Waitress was new and admitted it. However she did do her best and I'm sure with time she'll get better. read more

I I've been in several times. IMO the best place in Meredith to get a drink. The price is right and the ambiance is fitting. My first couple of times in I had the steak tips which were very tasty but the portion size was telling me that ownership is more interested in selling booze than food. After all the owner was previously a long time bartender from a popular watering hole in the Weirs. His experience with liquid may be the reason that lead to this 2 star review. My last visit was in the company of 3 friends. We went in for a quick drink and an app or two. We ended up getting the large nacho plate which was large only by a stretch of the imagination and we also ordered the beef barley soup. We all agreed this was the worst soup we ever ate. Between the three bowls we were only able to find one piece of meat. The lonely piece was about a quarter the size of a sugar cube and accompanied by six or so grains of barley. The soup was basically 99.9% broth and flavor less at that. This experience inspires me to want to organize a walk on the state capitol to fight for consumer rights. When a person goes into a restaurant and orders/eats food but fails to pay they can spend a night in jail. It should go both ways. The owner of the Frog Rock should be incarcerated for fraud calling this soup and taking our money for it. The worst part of the experience can hours later as I was reminded of the soup while hastily getting to and sitting on the thrown :( I'll go back for a drink but I'll never eat there again. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place even two stars is because the beer was cheap enough, albeit under poured and limited selection. My mother's rum punch was decent and service was mediocre. We stopped by yesterday afternoon for lunch. We ordered buffalo wings to start off with, the order was laughably small and missing any sort of spice as the wings were very unevenly coated. My burger which was the one with goat cheese, caramelized onions, and a smoky aioli was pretty lame, I couldn't find a hint of smoky flavor, the goat cheese was in the form of crumbles which is more suitable for a salad than a burger, the caramelized onions were just sweated at best while burnt on other parts, and my burger was what appeared to be made from a pre made pattie also worth mentioning that I order mine medium rare and received one that was well done. Not surprising when you use sub par ingredients. read more

I would have probably given the place at least a 2/5, but they neglected to mention a $1.50 up charge for sweet potato fries. Even though it was on the menu, as a courtesy, the servers should mention it when they ask you if you want one of the other options. We had the same problem in two different extremes with our entrees. My lobster cake burger was very bland and lukewarm (tasted almost like a veggie patty) and my fiancée's French Onion Soup was overly salted. Not a great experience here at all. read more

The food is adequate but it was so loud and our waitress took forever to come back to us and forgot 1/2 the things we ordered on each order.

We had a group of 10 guys up to celebrate gradation. Place was very understaffed and we saw the one bartender who was running around 10 times as often as we saw our waitress. We asked for drink menu and the waitress told us "be creative." No prices to be told as we assumed those were determined on the spot. After two Long Island Iced Teas and a shot for each member, as well as a food order per person, we asked for a third round of LIITs. The waitress responded with "how about Bud Lights" and refused to serve us any more. The best part of the whole situation was once we arrived the owner, who was very clearly slurring her speech and stumbling, yelled at us that she would find another area and leave us alone. We were contemplating whether she was a drunk patron or an employee, and were told it was the owner. All I can say in the end is it's pretty unsurprising that a drunk classless owner would hire a rude, inexperienced, classless staff. Highly recommend Town Docks if you enjoy timely service, fun, and good people! read more

My family was in town visiting and we were looking for a quiet place for a small bit after a large lunch. This fit the bill perfectly. Nice casual atmosphere. Cheaper than the restaurants at the shops. Drinks in jars were a nice touch. As already commented the clam chowder very good as were the rangoons. We didn't sample a lot of other items. The menu is not very extensive as mentioned but I suspect they've decided to put only items that they feel are decent rather than a large menu with some good some not so good. Definitely a place worth checking out if you're not looking for anything fancy. read more
