Not many people are so familiar with Belgian food, but it's actually quite good. Most will probably be more familiar with Belgian beer, now this is where they have mastered a craft! Frites reminds me a great deal of this small chain of Belgian restaurants in London - anyone who knows London will know what I am talking about. It is basically a beer hall which has hundreds of beers available, that also serves really traditional Belgian food. To start with the beers, quite frankly to many to name. However, Frites stock a range from the more known beers like Duvell, through to fruit lambics made by silent order monks. You can definitely get a good education in Belgian beers at Frites, but may have to do it over a number of visits! What better to go with yummy beer, but yummy food. The big things here is the "moules et frites" or mussels and chips. The mussels are steamed in a variety of marinades, like tomato, cream, white wine, and come in one kilo pots. Great for me, as I have a big appetite, but also enough to share. With the mussels comes the "frites", which are great double fried Belgian style fries. So tasty dipped in the mussel marinade, or with lashings of mayo. Other treats include meaty delights like "good wife sausage", which is basically a massive sausage with veggies, a huge Aussie style burger (I call it Aussie style because it has beetroot in it), and pork knuckle. Now the pork knuckle, oh yeah! It's just like crispy patas, but just made better, and served with mashed potatoes, so good. The venue in Brim 24 is fine. The dining hall is open and high ceilinged, with big bench tables, so it does get really noisy with the sound rattling around the tall space. It does get busy, so make sure you book for busy times. The staff are generally ok, they can be a bit blinkered and snippy, but take a breath, sip your beer, and try again. Last word of advice, avoid the chocolate pudding, it is really hit and miss. It is sometimes lovely, and other times tastes like detergent.

It doesn't take itself seriously (I mean, their craft beer list on the wall includes a height chart that has both world leaders and dictators' heights) and the bartender that evening knew how to chat us up and keep us off our phones. Cocktails are strong and they all cost $100HK, which makes everything easy peasy lemon squeezy. Since our table became available 50 minutes earlier than expected, we were unfortunately forced to down our drinks quickly so we could get our spot. What a way to get a buzz ASAP! Next time, we'll stay a little longer and perhaps try their beer selection!

I was a little bummed out by the beer selection, which included HK breweries but very light beers. I was also not particularly jazzed about the whiskey selection, though the shelves include the classics. This bar definitely seemed like an ex pat bar with large work groups hanging out after the work day. The space is small, so with large groups in the space, it was a bit hard to hear each other. The bartender on this given Wednesday - I missed his name - was friendly. He was new to HK so didn't have many recommendations, but he's a good conversationalist.

There is great open seating and the arrangement has a big community feel. The menu is pretty straightforward with a large beer selection and typical pub fare available. Steak and frites were a popular choice as well as the mussels. They have many sauce options and the mussels are all served in steam pots with a side of really srunchu bread. I ordered them house style and they were prepared with cream garlic and chives. The half order was very large and very satisfying. My sister ordered the chicken parm and it was huge! Big enough for two to share certainly. The service here was excellent and I would return!

Luckiy it's better on a Sunday night tonight, where only a few families were having dinner and around 10 kids running around (still tolerable). The food was suprisingly good. The crab starter was interesting, a bit spicy and very refreshing. We have ordered a ribs stew with truffle mashed potato, which was very yummy. The wife's sausage was good too but we were already stuffed. Satisfying overall.

TST has managed to see the opening of several German establishments over last few years, so why not a few more? 尖東 has effectively become a western melting pot of establishments with waterfront views and rapidly pricey area. Overall, Brotzeit surprised me. Decent beers on tap, much of which are largely German and epic platters that will satiate any big eater, and much like the rest of their neighbors: a revamped interior with indoor and outdoor spaces. Be it a casual drink meetup or an alternative dinner option, this place just works. The staff is comprised of mainly local folks with a good command of English. As expected, their German is virtually non-existent, save for a few beer names and their prominent dishes. Overall, they're efficient and friendly, which is as much as one can ask for in HK. Western fare will not come cheap and the same applies here. The bathrooms are two floors up in the TST Center and the views of Hong Kong are somewhat obscured by the highway barricades, but it won't diminish a good weather night. Come thirsty and preferably with good company.

This place a Belgium pub was open and the guy said arrive in 20mins you can place a food order. We rushed over in 18 minutes lol! Upon being seated the waitress says kitchen closed! My heart sank at that moment! I hadn't eaten dinner and was incredibly hungry. Jay O immediately said no I spoke to a gentleman who said if we got here in 20 mins we could order food. The manager then said yes they can I told them they could. That alone is the reason for 5 stars!! Lol luckily for us the food was amazing as well! Our first meal in Hong Kong ended up being Belgium food but amazing German food. Their gulden drak beef stew! Man so gooood! It came with a side of Belgium style mashed potatoes. We also ordered French fries and chicken wings. Fries were excellent and well seasoned. The chicken wings flavorful but yet extremely soggy. Jay O said it might've been because the oil had been turned off for some time so it was hot when they dropped them in. The selection of Belgium beers are amazing! Pages upon pages! Few drafts but plenty of bottles! The manager was very cool and talkative. After they were closing we headed to another bar he recommended and said he would meet with us to have a few drinks, he did and we had a great time!

He did. That man is my savior.
