This place was so dope. I randomly found this on yelp and ended up here for happy hour drinking cubre libres and eating a churro. I had the fries, which were a little greasy but good and the best snack ever in a mini size. Also good. The service was good. They are cashless. read more

Frita Batidos - Garlic fries Cuba libre Mini snack - Cuban Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

Killer food at a reasonably price and exceptionally consistent over the years. I've tried most of their menu and everything is truly top notch. I am a native Ann Arborite but moved away some years ago. I used to be sure to hit the Z when in town, now it's Frita's. It's really that good. read more

A little bit of additional sauce or toppings would have made the frita experience a 5/5. However, the passion fruit and coconut batidos were absolutely exquisite and I felt like I was beachside on the coast of Cuba. read more

I enjoyed my visit to Frita Batidas, but not sure it lives up to the hype. We had fish burgers and a chorizo burger. The "best snack ever" was liked by two of us and loved by the third. We also shared plantains and guacamole, which were good. The fries looked like they might have been crispy, but were not. They are served on top of the burger so I think that made them lose their crispness. The dining room was bright, with many long tables. A bottle of water and a bowl of dominos on each table were nice touches. read more

[Disclaimer this post is 100% Bias] I love Frita's! I've been here a handful of times since moving to Ann Arbor this past summer. Each time I've been here I've tried something new on the menu because everything is good hear, NO CAP ! I got the Chicken Verde Bowl with everything as you can see in the photo below! It was spicy, I love a little kick in my food and this was perfect! If you're ever in Ann Arbor, you have to eat at Frita's, it's a staple you don't want to miss out on! read more

Go blue. Spent few hours walking around Ann Arbor and Couldn't leave without checking out this iconic place. The venue's decoration is very Chic and simple with few long tables inside and patio ones outside. The wait was close to one hr outside so we decided to eat indoor. We ordered their most famous Coconut Cream Batidos drink. I usually avoid anything that contains coconut, but this drink took me by a surprise. After having one with the meal, I had to order one to go on my drive back to Detroit. The cheese burger and fries were ok but definitely not filling. Will definitely drive again to Ann Arbor have this delicious Batidos again read more

We had such a great experience here! First, to be clear, it's a hamburger joint. But the Columbian twist makes it completely unique. At first we opted for outdoor seating but when the wind proved too much for the propane heater next to our table, our server graciously let us move inside (that was just purely good timing - the wait for an indoor table was 30 minutes when we originally arrived). The big bag of crispy plantains and guac were fresh and delicious, they even gave us more guac to go, to finish up the chips! We ordered the hibiscus (sweet) and mango (tangy) batidos with rum and decided to mix them together - highly recommend! The chicken burger is marinated and juicy and wonderful. We finished up with the most gigantic churros I've ever seen. They were essentially cinnamon cake donuts, perfected. Our whole experience was made all the better by super friendly and helpful waitstaff and good Covid practices. read more

Housed in a bright white tiled building and sporting what seems to be a permanently out-the-door line, the restaurant is clean and spacious. Despite the popularity, the line moved quickly, and we had just enough time to get permanently bored of dominos before our food was brought out. I had the fish Frita with salsa added, and it was excellent. Very much in the vein of "what a burger restaurant would be if it were actually really good," it was piled high with French fries (which were perfectly soft and salty, among the best French fries I've had) on top of a fish burger, with salsa generously added. Absolutely delicious. I had the passion fruit batido to accompany, and it was tasty--sweet but certainly not too sweet. I tried a sip of my friend's fresh lime batido, and it tasted exactly as advertised. I'm not sure it's what I would have wanted for my meal, but it was certainly an impressively accurate recreation. read more

Frita Batidos is just so, so good. I haven't stopped thinking about my Frita with egg on top and the side of plantains. Not only was the food delicious but the service was fantastic. It's a bustling restaurant with a fun buzz because everyone is truly enjoying their experience. I worked with Frita Batidos on a private event, as well, and they went above and beyond to make it everything we wanted. They're wonderful to work with, so that is indeed the cherry on top of all the other goodness. You can't go wrong with this amazing restaurant and these even more incredible people, whether you're looking for a bite or planning an event! read more

Cuban-inspired street food that will set back your wallet and waistline!!! I will ALWAYS recommend a chicken frita and coconut batido; hands-down one of my favorite "knock-me-out-in-a-food-coma" foods in Ann Arbor! Although the wait can be crazy, they have at least expanded their seating, which make the wait a little more comfortable. Order take-out and bring it in Bill's Beer Garden for the ultimate summer night! read more

My mom has been wanting to try Frita Batidos FOREVER so I brought her for her birthday lunch and it was everything she hoped! The food was delicious and the caipirinhas are the most authentic in the area but the service was the star of the show today! The staff saw my mom's birthday sash and sent out a fresh churro with the meal, free of charge. Mike, the supervisor, also brought us the chocolate dipping sauce and told us all about the amazing ingredients that go into this fabulous treat. He even took a photo of us all together at the table. I loved Frita's before but today's experience even further solidified this place in my heart. Thank you to the whole crew and special shout-out to Mike for making the experience extra special! read more

Frita Batidos - Churro, caipirinha, Lighter Batido, Best Snack Ever - Cuban Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

We decided to visit Frita Batidos after hearing good reviews about the place. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the quality of the food we received, particularly for the price we paid. The water jug on the side of the table was dirty and smeared with some food, and the inside top of the water jug cap had black mold on it. The patty on the chicken frita was small and the fries were dripping with grease, which caused the bun to get soaked. Additionally, there were more fries than actual chicken patty. For the beef frita, the patty was requested medium but was given medium well. The patty and fries were also dripping with grease and were over-salted to the point that the burger was inedible. Overall, we were dissatisfied with our experience at Frita Batidos and we will not be returning. read more

My wife and I tried this place based on Yelp reviews and we were so happy with our experience. Food: The food was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were perfect. We each had fritas and would order the same thing again. Service: the service was great. While it took a while for our food to arrive the ambiance made up for it. Ambiance: we loved the bright atmosphere and the communal approach to seating (picnic tables). We were able to meet and speak at length with an elderly lady visiting by herself. So much fun. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Great food and great service! Unique Cuban food that's delicious. Seating is sometimes limited.

Frita Batidos is an unexpected place with a whole lot of cuban flare. Even though the founder is not cuban, they find a way to make the food authentic and delicious! I came here with my parents and they absolutely loved it. My mom got the fish frita and loved the tanginess of the avocado spread. My dad got the chicken frita and ate it so fast I didn't even see it. I got the chorizo frita with the fried egg and though it was messy the flavors were outstanding. The perfect balance of salty, spicy, and savory. The egg yolk was perfectly cooked and broke right as you bit into the frita. We also got the hibiscus batido and the chocolate Espanol batido. They were delicious and we'll balanced milkshakes. Overall a great meal in downtown Ann Arbor. Will definitely be back again! read more

For a messy delicious burger mashed together with fries, this is the place. Definitely recommend to try this place.

So you think you want a Cuban? Of course you do, but hear me out...Don't get one. Instead, get a burger! My husband and I were going to split a Cuban and a hamburger. He likes to get his burgers well done, and I like to get mine on the medium to medium rare side. The server asked us how he wanted it and he said medium well. It came out closer to how I would want it and it about grossed my husband out! I raved about it so he took a chance. He was so surprised how good it was even though he was kinda ticked off it didn't arrive as he ordered. It was absolutely amazing and we wish we would have ordered one each ourselves. Worth a visit. Very clean and the staff is very friendly. read more

Best place to eat in Ann Arbor. You really can't go wrong here. The chorizo frita is my favorite but the beef one is great too. Definately would recommend getting all the toppings "Make It Loco." Cant forget to pickup a passionfruit batido; They're amazing. The plantains with guac or the churro are both fun appetizers / deserts. The line is usually long but it moves quickly -- Service is generally fast. Loud, fun ambiance. Open late! read more

I met up with some friends here for dinner. The place was busy but not packed for a Thursday night at 5:30pm. We ordered and got a table in the back. I ordered the signature chorizo frita with a fried egg on top. The bun was soft, the chorizo was spicy, the egg was perfectly cooked. The fries on top were a nice touch. I got the seasonal cajeta (caramel) batido and it was excellent. I tried the passion fruit also which was very well balanced with a good amount of flavor. The crisped plantain chips, the twice fried plantains, and the garlic fries were all excellent as well. The service was friendly and fast. I recommend a top for a fast casual meal with something extra. read more

Had to try Frita Batidos while in Ann Arbor based on reviews. Was a little intimidated trying to figure out what to order but quickly decided on bowl. Order at counter and runners bring out fritas and batidos. Tried the Chicken Salsa Verde bowl that was excellent, and wife had the Best Snack Ever, which lived up to the name! Kids had black bean and bacon burgers that they enjoyed, other than bacon being a little too thick. read more

I've been here before for drinks, but this is the first time I've sat down for dinner. My bowl was absolutely delicious if you're looking for a sweeter, light dinner. The loaded plantains also had a touch of sweetness, but it balanced out all the toppings. The cuban had very delicious bread and the sandwich itself was made beautifully. The service was good, but it isn't a typical restaurant where you sit down and order food through someone. I loved sitting outside while the sun was setting, and the city outside the restaurant was a perfect area to enjoy food without the usual traffic the city can bring. read more

Just Ok burgers :) decent place but I personally don't understand the hype. On a weekend it's very challenging to get a spot there with long waits and tons of people. The food is good but not worth the price in my opinion. Additionally the garlic fries are quite extraordinarily garlicky :) don't get me wrong, I like garlic but that's just too much... Unlikely to return. Maybe we should have taken a different sandwich... read more

One of the first places I wanted to try in Ann Arbor. I have never actually ate in the restaurant and have always gotten take out but each time was a delight. The fritas, the batidos with or without alcohol, regular drinks in general, THE PLANTAINS alll are awesome. Having the frita loco is worth a try but it's A LOT on there. They do often have a long line on weekends etc and I've had to wait even for takeout but staff is always super courteous and it is well worth the wait. read more

So much flavor and feel good food. The coconut batido is the way to go. One of my fav places in Ann Arbor to eat.

Score yourself a coconut cream batido on a hot day (or a cold day, or a blustery day, or a slightly overcast day). Make up any excuse you want to. Just get one. They are awesome! (10/20/18 Update). So the coconut Batidos remain awesome, but I had to update my review to give props to the grub. The fritas (sandwiches) are absolutely spectacular. On prior visits I've tried the chorizo burger and loved every bite. Today I opted for the traditional beef burger and added and egg and bacon. Every bite was quite literally melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Not sure what they put in those burgers, but I'm pretty sure they are going to have to invent a 12-step program to break me from my new burger addiction. Wow! The fries are also quite spectacular, so don't hesitate to compliment your burger with a proper, traditional side of the spud sticks. I've been to FBs several times, and the only disappointment I've ever had was wishing they would open a location in Utah (pretty please?). read more

I love Fritas with my whole heart. Their beef frita is absolutely perfect as is or with additional toppings. Also highly recommend getting the plantains and guac. So much better than you would expect. Their batidos are exceptional as well, although I'd recommend getting a double shot if you're adding rum. Service is always quick and ambiance is fantastic. Hope they open a nyc location soon read more

The food is so flavorful and totally customizable. It was so nice to finally sit indoor and eat food after a year! The had us wait for about 15 mins in line, which wasn't too bad but this was at 3pm. I wish I didn't have to wait in the cold but the food was definitely worth the wait! read more

Note: I've edited my review after reading Eve's comments as chef/owner of Frida Batidos. I personally know running a small business is challenging in the best of times, and even more so in these times. Sometimes the character of a business is shown not when things go right, but when things go wrong. Eve's quick response is a perfect lesson in customer relations, and is why I will try Frita Batidos again when I am back in Ann Arbor. All the positive Yelp reviews can't be wrong and everyone deserves a second chance. Below is my review from yesterday: I travel extensively, and rely on Yelp to guide me to the best local restaurants. Frits Batidos has great reviews, so I ordered take away on their site. When I arrived, it was obvious that there were customers sitting at tables frustrated at their wait for someone to take their order. My online order included the beef frita with fries on the side. For $9, I received a small beef patty with bun and a small portion of greasy shoestring fries. The Best Snack Ever at $7.00 was quite good. The $2 tropical slaw was good, but I estimate the extremely small container could make it through TSA with no problem. I did order the Light Bright Salad, but when I opened the bag in hotel room, it was missing. read more

This place is all the rage in Ann Arbor. Massive lines and weights but we talk to someone standing outside and figured out the order online methodology. To give you an idea this place was so good we had to get it again the second night in A2. This was majorly attributed to the churros. The churros are fucking awesome. The rest of the restaurant food is like that dank menu that get you super excited when you're drinking but then tears you up on the toilet for the next 24 hours. Both nights we ate this food and it tore us up on the inside. That being said it's a hell of an experience and their take on Mexican/Hispanic food is pretty awesome. I will definitely eat some thing again there but will be more picky about what kind of meat/item I choose. read more

This place is a must eat in Ann Arbor. Fast service even when it's packed! The tables are communal - like legit communal. People wanna chat and share food- communal! It was such a fun experience just for that! But let's talk the goods! The food is phenomenal. The burgers are amazing. Garlic cilantro Fries are a must and so are the plantains!!! Soooo good! It's such filling food to begin with so we were stuffed sharing a burger fries and plantains between 2 of us. Their batidos are delicious too on a summer day! Fun drinks and great food in a fun city. What more can you want out of a restaurant! Will be back over and over read more

Got 2 beef fritas, 2 batidos, and the fried plantains last night at dinner. The food came out decently fast, and everything tasted pretty good. I would say the highlight of the meal was the plantains and the yummy side sauce they came with. My one complaint with the Fritas is always the soggy bun, so that was one downside. read more

I got the beef frita with the make it loco(egg and fries) add on. The burger was alright, an average burger better than fast food but not much better than most burger joints I've been to. But the sides were really good. The crisped plantain chips had a nice crunch with that plantain flavor. Mix it with the fresh guac, it was a good combination. In addition, the garlic cilantro sauce on top of the fries were really delicious. Fries were a big soggy from the sauce, nonetheless the fries with garlic and Cilantro was tasty. If it were not for the average burger I would give the place a 4.5 stars. read more
