The burger was essentially a Big Mac--two, 1/4 lb. patties, three slices of bread, cheese, and tartar sauce. I excluded the sauce. Very solid restaurant. Nothing too fancy but very satisfying! I slightly prefer their breakfast options to their lunch options. Have always been a fan of their breakfast bar although it still makes me a little nervous post-Covid. We stopped by 2025/mar/11 and found them closed. I hope they reopen when Frisch's sorts out their financial issues. This place was a favorite of ours - my wife and I would visit once a month or so (we live in Indianapolis). It's a step up from the fast-food burger joints - you actually sit down and get waited upon (unlike Steak-n-Shake since they quit table service). BigBoy has always been good food at a good price - we have a special affection for their onion rings and pies (coconut cream and strawberry pie-baby). If I could give no stars I would. The service was horrible. I ordered a big boy and I contend it is not 1/4 pound of meat. In fact half of my patty was non existent. The server,Mary, was perturbed that she had to wait on us. My husband ordered breakfast and his toast came after he was finished with his meal. Went in today at 8:00AM, there were 4 people present when I walked in. I looked at the breakfast bar ($12.99) it was pitiful looking. Sat down ordered Coffee, small orange juice, 2 eggs, sausage patties and grits. That came to $19.37 ! The coffee is $2.99 by itself! No wonder the place is dead, I bet 99% of the customers come from the nearby interstate. On to the food; The orange juice was fine, the coffee tasted weak and stale, the eggs and sausage were fine although the grits were watery, probably instant. So the food was "okay" it was no way near $19.37 okay. I almost left when I walked in because I always check the rest room first. I bet the restroom in this place hasn't been cleaned in days or possibly weeks. Bear in mind it was 8:00AM when I walked in, the place opens at 7:00AM. First - I am a huge Big Boy fan, been to BB's coast to coast, and even to one in Hawaii (I live in Chicago, so no BB's close by). Stopped here on the way back to Chicago - visit started off good, waitress got drinks order, but then stopped to talk to a friend about hair colors (red vs blue). Ten minutes later drinks arrived, we then ordered 2 Big Boy platters. While waiting, an argument (load) broke out between workers in the kitchen / front area. Seems our waitress, as did the cooks (?), got distracted with the shenanigans. Food took twenty minutes, never got the coleslaw. A bad visit that I'll chalk up to a one time occurrence. read more

Despite how old this company is, this is the first time I have ever eaten at a Big Boy. Let me start with the cleanliness and service because these were definitely the highlights. The place was very well taken care of and the service and general attitude of everyone working there was incredibly friendly and outgoing. My problem is with the burger specifically. I had the quarter pound burger and made in the restaurant's classic way. The bun was very cheap. It fell apart really fast and the ground beef seemed of lower quality. It had this texture that was simultaneously chewy and smooth that implies fillers to me. The classic Big Boy burger comes with tartar sauce, lettuce and pickle on it. I thought the tartar sauce would be odd at first but to be honest I didn't even taste it. I had one single pickle and the smallest amount of lettuce. I just asked for extra pickles after the fact and ended up getting some lettuce off of the salad bar. None of this is great for a place built around its burgers. However, I loved the option to pay $5 and have access to an all you can eat salad buffet. That was awesome. Although the potato salad was an overwhelmingly sweet mush. I guess it's a thing to put sugar in potato salad in the south but I didn't care for that at all. A little sweet might be fine sometimes but there needs to be some tartness of an acid to contrast and far more texture. Despite that, having all you can eat salad, soup and dessert attached to your burger is a cool idea especially for the price. The burgers come by themselves so if you want fries you have to order them extra. The fries are crinkle cut and are your standard pre-frozen fries. Nothing spectacular but nothing horrible either. Although I didn't get very many and they cost three extra dollars so that was a little bit of a bummer I guess. However I didn't dwell on it because of the salad bar. Overall, it was a pleasant visit for the fantastic service. I will probably try it again. I usually like to give places a couple of tries to get a good gauge. Although I will be trying a different sandwich than the burger next time. Definitely needs to be some improvement on the quality of beef and bun. Shake Shack charges about the same price for their burgers and it's much better quality across the board. To be honest, I don't care how much a burger costs as long as the quality is warranted for said cost. Rally's isn't great but they definitely have a better quality to cost ratio than Big Boy does. Buy your beef locally and don't use fillers! If you need to raise a prices then fine but it will show up in the product! read more

This place needs Manangement! They have plenty of help, but no idea how to be efficient enough to deal with a normal Sunday crowd. The lady working as a hostess was so negative & never smiled. She was trying to do way too much & tell everyone else what to do - but not effectively. Wait staff and kitchen were openly bickering. "Hostess" person should have been discreet about a customer who did complain. Instead she was openly berating a staff member about the issue. Staff all yelling back and forth across the restaurant about their issues going on. Facility is clean & pleasant- staff needs effective leadership! As a kid, the Frisch's mansion was 3 houses away on Cherokee Dr in Madeira. I've been enjoying a Big Boy and onion rings for 50 years. Still tastes good. Service was questionable. Luckily I caught the error the server had heard... not paying attention to what I ordered. Had to ask for a napkin... trying to save money? We had 4 plus a child in our party. We could see our food sitting in the window at least 10 minutes. Needless to say our burger and fries were cold. I told waitress it was cold. She said she'd get us 2 new orders of fries. We ate our cold burgers, which tasted good but they were cold too. We were done and the waitress came back to tell us the cook must have forgot our fries. She did take the 2 fries off the bill. Upon paying we were not asked how things were. I am usually very patient and understanding especially now when everyone is so short. But they were not busy. As a native of Northern Kentucky, I stop by this Frisch's location 3-4 times a year when I'm in Indy on business travel. It's a great chance to have dinner with my family who still reside in the area, and enjoy a taste of one of the Cincinnati favorites I grew up on. They've obviously added to and updated their menu over the years, but it's nice to see they still retained the classics....the Big Boy burger, the Swiss Miss, the Buddie Boy and the Brawny Lad. On my visit this evening, I tried an updated version of the classic Big Boy....they added pepper jack cheese and a spicy version of their tartar sauce and dubbed it the Bad Boy. Although I'm kind of an old school Frisch's purist (yes, I wept when they switched to Pepsi products and rejoiced when they brought back Coke!), I enjoyed the twist. My Super Bad Boy platter with fries (with their classic tartar sauce for dipping) and slaw was just what I needed! I read the previous Yelp reviews regarding poor service and can only say I've never had bad service at this location in my numerous visits here over the last few years, and tonight was no exception. The lady waiting on us at the cash register had no clue how to deal with a person with a vision impairment. The waitress was wonderful, and the food was good. With restaurants opening back up I would think that customer service would be great. Absolutely not the case here. When our food came the waitresses cell phone started to ring, our food was basically thrown on the table and she was gone. My wife ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and got a baked chicken sandwich. When we finally got the waitress to come back she ended up bringing a sandwich with two chicken strips on it. My chilli tasted like it just came from the refrigerator it was so cold. The food was brought to the table and we had to wait to eat because we had no silverware. This is in a small town and they were not busy. How can you not even check on your guests. We were greeted right away, explained the covid rules immediately, asked to check the menus, once we gave our orders, we were escorted to our seats. I immediately went to restroom to wash my hands and the restroom was very clean and had hot water to wash my hands. Cold water in restrooms is points off to me when visiting a establishment. As I returned to my seats, our fountain drinks had been served, shortly, our meals were served, very plentiful and hot! We both had Big boy sweat shirts on from the Big Boy locations, Audrey admired our sweatshirts immediately, and to our surprise presented us with Big Boy face masks, we had our regular ones but since we are collectors of Big Boy memorabilia, we were elated! Tried this spot on my way to Kentucky with my baby boy. We tried the buffalo basket and fries which was hot and freshly served. The young lady who served our food was very nice and friendly. I have always been a big fan of Frisch's, ever since I was a kid. Anytime I drive down to Cincinnati, I always make a plan to stop off at one. This time, it was the Greensburg location. Since I was by myself I sat at the counter. I love sitting at the counter since so few restaurants still have a "first come, first serve" counter. I always order the Big Boy with fries and add in the soup 'n salad bar. It's a great meal every time and takes me back to the good old days. The service was a bit slow but attentive. I went right at the lunch rush and they seemed a bit packed. Frankly, I was a bit surprised there was a lunch rush in Greensburg. read more

We arrive by seven people wanting to sit together they were reluctant to give us a table I'll push together and asked us to set in separate booths we pushed in order to get into a table all together. Once we did finally order our food took about 45 minutes for the food to come out the waiter came back multiple times asking if the orders were correct before the food came out and then brought out the wrong food. My aunts chili came out without beans in it and it was cold she had to send it back to be heated up they brought up pancakes instead of French toast for my cousin the toast for my other aunts meal did not come out we had to ask for it twice. We were told multiple times that they only had one cook in the kitchen and they were doing their best. The cook doing their best does not help with the fact that the server was not good he couldn't remember who ordered what or what table had ordered what. He constantly was walking out with excuses trying to use comedic relief to make the experience better it wasn't helping. Most of the food when it did come out was cold we didn't complain anymore because we just wanted to get out of there. The restrooms have very slippery tile on it and it is unsafe when it's wet. There are other options close by that would probably have better service with Employees that want to help you instead of complaining.
