Food was delicious! We tried nothing but apps because it was an apps kinda night...did not disappoint. Shrimp were delicious, bacon cooked perfect, grilled onion...very tasty! Mac & cheese balls w/brisket...need I say more? Yum! We ordered the pretzel...lemme tell I don't live in Cypress but willing to drive to Cypress for this damn pretzel, it was that good! Stuffed tater tots were very good, just wished there were more! We were expecting a basket of messy greasy goodness and got a more refined version, but still delicious! Beer was great, nice and cold...Grace was our bar tender and she was awesome...let us try samples before making our selections on beer. She made us her Grace special original Pixie shots...did not disappoint! Ambiance was laid back...sat at the bar and enjoyed live band across the way right after. Will definitely be back...if for nothing else, that pretzel!

This place is loaded with atmosphere and I felt good walking in. Now this might sound a bit crazy, but I love picking up my cutlery and finding that it actually has some heft to it, and that's what I got with my knife and fork. LOL Mr. Picky really liked his shrimp tacos and I thought that his chili rice and black beans were really excellent when I stole bites off of his plate. I ordered the stuffed chicken fried chicken and was very pleasantly surprised. They substituted sides for me so I had green beans (very fresh and flavorful) and onion rings with it. Although I'm not usually a lover of white meat chicken, I actually found this to be moist enough to eat, I liked the Gouda stuffed inside and the outer coating was fried beautifully crisp. I particularly liked the gravy that they used and asked for extra so if you order this do the same. It had a nice peppery aftertaste and I asked if it was the same gravy that they use on their chicken fried steak. It is. For dessert we shared the sooapilla, strawberry and whipped pie thing, and bread pudding. Hands down, the moist warm bread pudding with ice-cream was by far the best. Overall, this was an enjoyable dining experience and we'll definitely plan on heading back. (Brunch on Sundays only.). Based on dining, it should be rated higher than a "3.6" so give it a shot when you're in the mood for some down-home cooking.

Really enjoyed lunch at Frio. Stellar service by Steve! He really was the highlight of our visit. Very attentive and food was prompt. Hamburger was grilled exactly as ordered. Chicken strips were perfect as was Caesar salad and yummy Mac n Cheese. We had some littles with us so loved the outdoor play area. It was a little early for a cold brew but it appeared this would be a fun night spot as well. Overall great service, strong menu and fun!

The food and service have been great each time we come here. The atmosphere is very comfortable and spaced out so that you don't feel like you are sitting at the other table next to you.

Okay maybe it isn't a solid 5, but it is a lot better than a 3.7! This restaurant is sooo Texas. It is quirky. Fried pickles and chicken fried steak sandwiches, a dessert called the Texas State Fair with fried oreos twinkies and snickers bars, and mystery cans of beer for $2.50! In these days of corporate similitude I have to salute a restaurant who will deep fry a twinky or two. Service was excellent. Mystery beer was "three on the tree lager" out of Blanco TX. They built it to look rustic.

Frio Grill absolutely nailed the Frio River theme, the nostalgia was intense. Our waiter, despite being extremely busy was very attentive and seemed happy to be there. The Mac N' Cheese balls are AMAZING. Not only are they fried to perfection, but the Mac itself is tasty with a hint of spice. Not your everyday Kraft for sure. Stuffed Chicken fried Chicken, a solid dish. No complaints, loved the Gouda and the French fries are actually seasoned and enjoyable. If you're a fry lover like myself, definitely get some. My mother ordered the Pecan Bourbon Chicken, it was a bit sweet but a nice meal. If you're more towards savory I suggest just going with the chicken fried chicken. Drinks were good too. We will be back. The environment alone is worth it. 10/10 experience.

My husband and I came for an early Friday evening dinner, and we were genuinely impressed. Customer service was good, not over the top, but definitely decent and pleasant. The atmosphere felt comfortable and inviting. They played a nice mix of music (blues, soul, Tejano, light rock, country, and more) at a mid-volume on the overhead speakers. There were also mounted flat-screens, but they weren't turned on, which I actually didn't mind. One of the coolest perks is the self-serve ice cream station, and the ice cream is delicious. It has that old-fashioned, rich vanilla flavor, like the 1950s when food tasted much better. On top of that, although not self-serve, they also have a "Shakes & Malts and Warm Cookies" station, which is such a fun touch. The dining area is large with plenty of seating options, (booths and tables), and everything looked clean and tidy. They also have a self-serve beverage station that was clean and well-stocked. Now for the best part: the food! Just a heads-up, this place believes in large portion sizes, and I'm not mad at it! I ordered the Mississippi Catfish Platter, and it was loaded. It came with 4 large catfish pieces, Texas toast, onion rings, and two sides. I chose the creamy whipped potatoes and coleslaw. My husband ordered the Mississippi Catfish with fried shrimp and French fries, and his plate also came with Texas toast and onion rings. I tasted one of his shrimp and it was delectable! OMG! My only complaint is that the fish could have been fried a little crispier with a little crunch to it. It was just too soft for my liking. Food Ratings: Mississippi Catfish Platter -- 4/5: Delicious flavor, but it wasn't crispy/crunchy--more soft than I expected Shrimp & Catfish Platter -- 4/5 Mia's Queso Dip -- 3/5 Mashed Potatoes -- 5/5: Thick consistency but still creamy Onion Rings -- 5/5: Cooked to perfection--crispy and crunchy Coleslaw -- 3/5: Not my favorite. It had more of a vinaigrette vibe, and I prefer a mayo-based, tangy slaw French Fries -- 3/5: Served hot, but nothing special Overall, I highly recommend Mia's Table if you're looking for simple comfort food without all the fancy extras. The atmosphere is chill and relaxing, perfect for unwinding after a long work week or for those lazy nights when you just don't feel like cooking.

Pure Soul on a Plate…read more This is real soul food done right. Every plate that hit the table looked like it came straight out of someone's Sunday kitchen--and tasted even better. The golden fried fish was perfectly seasoned with that crispy, cornmeal crunch on the outside and juicy, tender meat on the inside. No grease, no shortcuts--just flawless frying. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and unapologetically cheesy, with a homemade texture that lets you know this wasn't scooped from a box. The candied yams were soft, sweet, and spiced just right, with that deep, slow-cooked flavor you can only get from patience and tradition. And the collard greens & cabbage blend? Absolutely phenomenal. Cooked down beautifully, full of flavor, and balanced--savory, comforting, and satisfying without being heavy. Even the hushpuppies were standout: crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and seasoned all the way through. Beyond the food, you can feel the history and love behind every dish. This is the kind of place where recipes matter, portions are generous, and the goal is to feed your soul--not just your stomach. If you're looking for authentic Southern soul food that tastes like it was made with care and legacy, this spot is a must-visit. I'll absolutely be back.

We walked in to a really cozy but welcoming place. The cashier was the most polite and knowledgeable young person I have met in awhile. He took our order, made recommendations and rang us up. We sat down and waited for our food a bit. Omg the food was absolutely amazing. The best spots are found on the spur of the moment and this was no exception. We were able to give him immediate feedback and the highest of praises for his restaurant from the delightful young man to the food to the decor. We are sold and this will be a regular on our list. The food: I got the shrimp fried rice, lemon pepper bone in wings and red beans and rice. We split the boiled shrimp. My husband got the catfish, tilapia and shrimp basket with fried okra. Everything was excellent! But if I had to pick, the shrimp fried rice with the small onion bits won! The lemon pepper wings second and the fried okra was amazing! Everything was so good we ordered more wings to go and another order of fried rice. Everything was fresh, nothing from a box. The price point was good too and portion sizes were great. 1000/10.
