Nachos at The Barn
Nick R.

Yikes. Went to a concert. There was a food vendor, separately a drink vendor, and presumably, you could bring in food from the Frio Grill. Welp, when a member of our party went in to order food, was told to-do orders were NOT available. Okay. Other members go in, order food, then after ordering, they say they need it to go. No problem, they are told. Hmm... The drink vendor, cool, no issues. The food? Well,I get there is one person cooking and they are working HARD. But my order was skipped over. My order was two nachos. The easiest thing to put together, everything is already prepped in a steam table. After I tell them that my order has not come, they say it will take a second and I'm still there, 20 minutes later. I should also note, other orders of nachos, placed after me, are being prepared and served in that intervening time. Not acceptable. The venue was decent for music but the food service was clearly lacking.

Live music venue behind the Frio restaurant. Many free shows. Good happy hour. There is a small stage and a big stage. Friendly staff, bar food, like Nachos. We enjoyed the show!

This place is part of the Frío restaurant , and it's located in the back corner of where Frio is. It's 21 and over with live music. We got 4 different tacos, chicken nachos and a Cuban sandwich. The tacos were pretty good, but the rest of the food was unimpressive. Nothing great!

This place is expanding rapidly. But not at all for the better. We purchased a $200+ table for 6 which is at the "front" (table 105). They then added a gate/fence for the pit and everyone in the pit leans up against the gate blocking your table view (see photo). Skip the front tables and either buy one further back or just get pit and be the person that blocks everyone's view.

The staff is rude and food was blah. I have never been somewhere the music was so loud it was hard to enjoy. Probably won't return.

Overpriced fried food with rude staff. Plus, they blast life music to the point of distortion making it too loud to even talk to others.

Edit to previous review...buckle in!! This will be...uhhh...brief? Ish?…read more In-laws are in town. The wife and mother-in-law (MIL)...I'm sure you can figure that out (Love her) adjourned (twice..more later) to enjoy an afternoon of champagne, vino, and charcuterie. Next shout is to Daniel (Good name. Not that I am biased) who went out of his way to accommodate M-i-L's dietary restrictions due to acute allergies. Well played sir. Upon their departure we dined...AND RETURNED!! The music selection included a bassist that evening which included the likes of Tool, Alice In Chains, Sublime, classic, contemporary, and all over the place music. Again. Fun. Lucky came to say hola as did both owners. So. What else can I say?!? I BS'd my way through some Greek (not kidding) had lots of wine, fun, and closed out the night. Yes. The wife and M-i-L did come here. Left. Ate. And then the whole Fam came back. Upgrading to a rock solid 5 well-deserved stars. See y'all soon I'm sure.

Bonus: there's even an outdoor patio. Notably, a variety of local musicians entertain on Thursday through Saturday. The Cellar (obviously) specializes in wine, but also offers a decent beer selection. The small menu is far removed from standard bar-fare, with a surprising variety including some vegetarian. I personally like their Mediterranean Chicken Skewers and Feisty Feta Spread, but am a sucker for the off-menu, overstuffed ground beef tacos they serve some nights. Friends rave about their Chicken Salad Croissant. The owners - Karen and Lisa - and their staff do an outstanding job of taking care of their customers. And when you return, they'll almost certainly remember you and your favorite potable!

First time visit to this small and excellent restaurant…read more Located at the corner of Fry Road and Mound Road it has a restaurant seating area of about 50 and a large bar area for 20 more. The menu is short but includes most of the classics. I had the Seafood Tacos and my wife had the Chicken Mole Enchilada. The tacos were surrounded by a flour tortilla (corn is also available) with fish that can be grilled or steamed. Packed with flavor from the onions, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and more I enjoyed every last bite. The plate included rice, beans, and sliced red onion. Delicious My wife loved her selection as well. The serving was big enough to take home what was not consumed allowing her an extra day to enjoy the mole. We also ordered a side of guacamole which was served as a huge rounded scoop on a plank. Don't get me started on the chips we used to eat every last bit of the guacamole. When we told our waiter, Jose, how much we liked the chips he gave us a bag to take home! I had some today and they were still crunchy with a hint of salt. Now to drinks: my wife had the house Pinot Grigio and I the house margarita which I ordered frozen with no salt. The margarita had a clear lime note but did not suffer from it. All in all we agreed that Carmelita's deserves a return visit next time Mexican food is our choice.

Usually excellent. Tonight sucked!…read more Tonight came in and sat at the bar. Ignored for 10 minutes so we got up and left. Weren't many people there. They HAVE to do something about the smell from the Nail Salon next door that permeates everything and actually makes me nauseous.

Walk up and order at the window...very friendly gentleman took our order and gave me a beeper and pointed out a big cooler with ice cold water and cups if we were so inclined...my cold Shiner Bock hit the spot though. It's all outdoor seating but covered with fans so very comfortable. When we got our food...from a very nice lady...I knew it was going to be great. I ordered the jalapeño burger and my son the regular cheese burger and we split an order of fries. My burger was awesome and good sized. Smash type patty cooked perfectly with very fresh veggies. The fries are fresh, hand cut and oh so good! 5 star friendly service, excellent food and a great atmosphere made this place a new favorite spot. If in the area hit 'em up...you won't be sorry!

"Friday Night Catfish - Live Music" 02/20/26…read more I decided to give this place a try since I've been passing by it for a while, always wondering if it was any good. I'm glad I finally gave in to curiosity. This spot was already jumping on a Friday evening around 6 PM. They had live music, a solo artist singing and playing guitar, and the whole atmosphere felt lively and upbeat. It gave me "Urban Cowboy" vibes in the best way. The southern hospitality was definitely there. It's family-oriented, pet-friendly, and apparently Friday nights are the only time you can catch them frying up catfish and shrimp. Customer service was a mix of good and just okay. The lady taking our order was polite, but not very friendly, maybe she's just not the best with social skills. You walk up to the outside window to order (like my husband and I did). We were told there'd be about a 45-minute wait, which we were fine with. They gave us a pager to let us know when the food was ready, and luckily we found a table in the packed dining area where we could enjoy the entertainment while we waited. We sipped on margaritas on the rocks and took in the scene. I was honestly surprised at how good they were, especially with the Tajín on the rim. Delicious and strong. Now, the two female servers were the real highlight. They were friendly, down-to-earth, and very attentive, checking on us periodically. One of them even refilled my margarita cup free of charge to make up for the wait. I loved their high energy and bubbly personalities, and I will say: it ended up being well worth the wait. When my husband brought our food to the table, it was piping hot. We both ordered the fried catfish and shrimp dinner, which comes with French fries, hush puppies, and a salad. For some reason, we were served crinkle-cut fries instead of their usual authentic-cut fries, aka "crappy fries," which confused us a little, but it wasn't a big deal. The fish and shrimp were fried to perfection, crunchy, succulent, and full of flavor. The shrimp tasted fresh with that ocean-seafood flavor. The fish tasted a little less fresh to me (slightly on the stale side), but it was still good overall. Complaints Pet-friendly: They allow dogs and cats to roam around the dining area while customers are eating, which is just not my cup of tea. I get that it's outdoor dining, but not everyone enjoys animals up close while they're trying to eat. There was a dog roaming and sniffing guests, and a cat doing the same. Luckily neither one made their way to my table. Another complaint is the styrofoam plate issue: Our dinner was served on a styrofoam plate without the paper lining to keep the hot food from melting into the styrofoam. I don't mind styrofoam, but please add the liner, especially for hot fried food. We noticed other customers had the lining, but we didn't. Maybe it was just a slip-up, who knows. Food Ratings Catfish/Shrimp Dinner: 5/5 Fish: 4/5 (fried to crunchy perfection and piping hot, but didn't taste as fresh, slightly stale) Shrimp: 5/5 (crispy, fresh tasting, piping hot) Hush puppies: 5/5 (crispy outside, moist inside) French fries: 4/5 (not the authentic cut, but fresh and hot) Side salad: 4/5 (fresh lettuce and tomatoes, but a very small portion) Margarita on the rocks: 5/5 (delicious and strong) Overall, Tailgate Grill is energetic, upbeat, and serves up some seriously tasty fried catfish and shrimp, especially on a Friday evening with delicious tasting Margaritas to top it off. The atmosphere is inviting, the food is mouthwatering, and I tore my plate up! I definitely recommend this place if you're craving southern fried catfish and shrimp. One last tip: bring cash to tip the hardworking servers; they were tag-teaming it and taking care of a packed crowd with smiles on their faces. Great job ladies!
