Thankfully they didn't kick me out, it was a great evening. Band was good, super chill atmosphere with a solid mix of people and great drinks and service. What else can you ask for in a saloon.

Lately, I've noticed several reviews on Yelp and on Google - they all are by people without a profile photo - only a first name or first + initial and never any other reviews (Patricia S, Evan P, Jill P, Mike C). Peter is one of those on Google - he gave a great deal of details - mostly derogatory comments about the owners and how he "witnessed" them being abusive, condescending, etc. to employees, and their overall attitude. Well, after being a regular at The Annex for years, where owners, management, and most employees did absolutely nothing other than sit and drink and play grab ass with one another, Jess and Shannon are a refreshing welcome and the definition of "hands-on ownership." I am aware of the "group text" that Peter described and what it said it told employees is that they had a new system that required employees to do THEIR part to input info or they would not get paid. It did not threaten - it was just factual. Today, apps tend to drive payroll processes and require employees to input their own information to get paid. This sounds like either a current or former "sour grapes" employee who is not content with moving on, but has decided to the take very immature stance of getting even by trashing the establishment and its owners. Jess and Shannon have done a fantastic job at creating a beautiful and welcoming atmosphere, creating a business with systems and controls (you cannot be successful without them - i.e. The Annex), and a service-oriented and trained staff who serve the customers instead of making and doing shots (for themselves and their friends). When Oak & Iron is busy, Jess and Shannon are working right alongside their employees - delivering drinks, running food, taking orders, and closing checks. Do they run a tight ship? Yes! Are they abusive or rude to employees or customers? Not that I've ever witnessed and I'm a regular. They have created a friendly, fun, upscale atmosphere without the former riff-raff of old. If you have not been to Oak & Iron, pay attention to all the 5 Star reviews and not the few that apparently have an axe to grind, because they nothing to do with reality! Oak & Iron Sports Social provides 5 Star drinks, food, and service! Period!

On Wednesday night they have bingo which is a great time. I know they also have live music, DJs, and karaoke on a regular basis.
