Henry's Hair Salon only had a handful of Yelp reviews but I liked what I read and the pictures I saw so I decided to give it a try and am glad I did. Henry has cut my hair four times now and I can say without hesitation that he is a very skilled barber who takes a ton of pride in his work. He puts in a lot of effort in cutting hair, keeping his shop clean and well maintained, and providing warm and friendly service. I've been to dozens of barbers in my life and I would say Henry's trimming/cutting skills, as well as his likeable personality, are right up there with the best ones. He is also meticulous and will take plenty of time to ensure his clients are thoroughly satisfied before leaving the shop. The shop is very spacious and has been immaculate each time I've visited. Henry takes appointments so I've never had to wait for the barber chair. Unlike some places, Henry does not overbook appointments and leaves ample time for each client. His prices are also at or below the other shops in the area for men's haircuts. Henry is a small business owner whose care and services for his clients are clearly evident. Highly recommend!

He applied the color and half way through he dropped the brush on the floor and picked it up and continued to use the brush he had dropped to complete the color process. I didn't feel comfortable saying anything at that point even though I was furious. What was I supposed to do leave with half of my head uncolored. Also, he applied water to distribute color. I have never seen that in my life. He didn't try to make the situation better at all, no conversation at all it was like I was a bother. I was going to get my hair cut but after he dropped the brush and used the dirty brush I decided against the cut. After he washed off the color I told him I was not getting a cut after all. He looked at me and said OK. I then told him why- I told him he dropped the brush and continued to use the dirty brush to finish the color and that is a no no. He just stared at me and asked if I would like him to brush my hair I said NO. So i paid and left. Of course I did not tip him. I didn't think I should have paid for the horrible svc I received but I didn't want to cause a scene. This is definitely not an upscale salon nor does he have the experience everyone claims he has. I spent 2 hours in her salon chair which is not bad for a balayage session. Her communication from scheduling to booking the appointment was an easy process as well. Melanie has her own salon chair rented in the Salon of Capelli if you happen to get confused. Having balayage done on your hair isn't a simple or cheap thing to do so this Groupon helps to cover the balayage portion. Also people have to realize that you have to be realistic with the outcome of 1 session of balayage. I only told Melanie that I wanted to have my hair lighten up as much as it could go and she achieved that very well in that 1 session. There would be an additional charge for the length/density of your hair and also how the status of your hair looks. She did ask to send pictures of my current hair to determine this length/density. My hair is about mid-shoulder length so Melanie told me there would be an additional $25-$30 charge. Other services that she offered were a haircut ($30) and toner ($25). These additional services are only discounted if you have other services done too (e.g. balayage). You'll have to discuss it with her for more exact pricing but this was the pricing that I had. Overall, I ended up getting charged for my length/density and toner, which I also knew I needed so I did not hesitate on her suggestion.
