The braider (owner) stated to me that my hair was too much to work with because I prefer to not relax my hair. She even went so far to tell me to blow dry my own hair myself because she couldn't deal with it. After I blow dried myself she said the braids won't look right if she doesn't press it with a hot comb. She begins to press it but is very rough and the smoke is everywhere I explained to her that she is burning my hair she said ...it's the oil. I requested that she stop and just braid my hair in 6 braids going back. She made endless remarks about my hair being too nappy for her and next time either relax it or go to ANOTHER stylist to do a "silk press" prior. I was embarrassed and confused to think that an African woman doesn't know how to manage "African" hair especially when her texture is coarser than mine. I would recommend a hairstylist that knows how to work with black women hair not only braid "straight" hair. I have never experienced this type of self hate and I would not recommend anyone to this establishment. *I was going on vacation the next day and needed some cornrows that's the only reason I didn't walk out.

Lily was the first stylist I came to after 10 years where I walked out extremely happy with my hair cut. With COVID, she is NOT accepting walk-ins so make sure to call ahead. I called and left a VM, and within a couple of hours she responded and was able to squeeze me in on a Friday afternoon. She does get pretty busy near the weekends though, so don't wait last minute like I did! The suite is located within the Delaney Salon, so when you enter, take a right and she's easy to find. I brought a picture of the long bob style I wanted and she was able to follow exactly what I wanted, even providing suggestions for my specific hair type. I know she was meticulous, taking approx an hour to make sure everything looked perfect. I was even impressed with the blowout at the end, I never felt the heat of the blow dryer against my scalp. Lily is SUCH a sweet lady and will converse with you the entire appt. She deserves 5 stars and more.

I put off getting my hair cut for 6 months after moving to Texas because I was so nervous about finding a new stylist to deal with my thick, coarse, curly & very unruly hair. I've had a number of bad experiences over the years & a good stylist is worth their weight in gold. Kendal is very friendly, professional, & immediately put her hands in my hair & was very positive about the fact that she was excited to cut it. I've been on the receiving end of stylists who looked nervous or horrified once they see how much hair I have, but I didn't feel that AT ALL from her. I have very curly hair and it's impossible to explain what cut I want unless once my hair is wet. I appreciated that Kendal took the time to sit me down in the chair and discuss what I wanted BEFORE shampooing my hair. She was very gentle with my wet hair & untangled it carefully-no ripping, yanking, etc. I really appreciated that especially since I am so gentle with it myself as I don't want to damage it. She worked quickly but did a thorough job. While she was working she seemed so completely in her element, not nervous & fidgety. I usually feel terrified with each chunk of hair that falls but not this time. I got a keratin treatment and a major haircut. My hair went from primarily one length, ultra long (3 inches past my bra strap) to a medium-length angled bob with the front being dramatically longer than the back. It looks EXACTLY like the pictures I showed her and I felt she really listened to what I wanted and executed it perfectly! I feel the cut is so flattering & fabulous. Also, this might seem like a given to people with "normal" hair but she did a great blow-out! I have been left damp many times over the years.
