I have been a loyal Fringe customer since the salon opened. I've worked with several stylists including Laura and Erin. I've been seeing Melissa for the past year ever since I decided to grow my hair and wear it wavy. She is equally skilled at cut and color. This is the first time I've been able to grow my hair out in years. Previous attempts failed due to folks at other salons not understanding my hair's texture. Melissa cuts hair dry and never uses a razor on me for thinning. The results have been consistent and I can make it last for 7 weeks between appointments. Melissa is also super friendly and makes me feel so comfortable. In fact, everyone at the Salon is warm, friendly and welcoming. I researched online to try and find a salon with good Covid-19 safety protocols in Baltimore. Fringe has a dedicated page on their website about Covid-19 safety (at least they did as of 4/5/22): https://www.fringebaltimore.com/covid-19/ . The page has photos of staff wearing masks and says that clients are required to wear masks. When I walked into the salon, no one was wearing a mask. I didn't feel comfortable and canceled my appointment (and lost my deposit). It seems like a nice place with friendly people, but if Covid-19 safety protocols are important to you, I don't recommend this salon. They should update their website so as not to mislead people who prioritize safety protocols. read more

Victoria was knowledgeable and attentive, helping me really get to exactly what i wanted, even if I wasn't exactly sure of what length I was looking for going in. She really took the time and helped me get to what looked best and, more importantly, what felt right for me. My fabulous hair stylist of 15yrs moved to Florida over four years ago, and I have not found a great colorist until today. I am very particular about the pale ash blond that I like and have yet to find anyone who understands my hair and the color I am looking for. Sam at Fringe worked miracles on my hair! I have wavy/curly hair and recently got a lob at a different salon in DC. For the first time ever, my hair wouldn't hold a curl at all and was drying completely straight. I was really bummed and confused about what was going on, and then a friend recommended Sam. She spent hours (literally hours) fixing my hair. She took the time to really listen to what I wanted changed, and then spent about 20 minutes looking at my hair dry and explained to me how the previous stylist had cut in the opposite direction of my curls, which made me feel confident that she knew what to do to fix it. She cut off almost no length, but somehow all my waves are back, and every day since, someone has complimented me on my haircut. This is my update review, Sunday morning, two mornings after my appointment. There is a medium sized (as wide as my right hand) section from the top of my head to the bottom that is my original hair color (a warm brown), In proportion to the rest of my hair that was dyed black, that is 1/4 of the product I paid for missing. As well as a very frustrating emotion. Will I call the salon and ask for a touch up? I am not sure, I feel very cornered and I am worried I will not be championed as a client. I am uncertain whether this is permissible in the salon or not, and again uncertain the owner would support a touch up for free. If anyone knows a stylist who does rescue work, or a salon owner willing to allow a stylist to help, I'm looking for suggestions thank you ! read more

I got the best haircut at Fringe by Sam. After Trump got elected I decided to grow long hair, and it was getting pretty long and unmanageable (and as a basic guy I don't do a lot of blow drying or much goop application). I brought a picture of what I was thinking (provided by my wife) and showed it to Sam. She spent a lot of time with the scissors, and did a fantastic job. This salon is light and bright with friendly and accommodating staff. I have long, wavy hair and tend to leave salons unhappy. This was not the case after leaving Fringe! My stylist Sam gave me an amazing head massage during my shampoo. She listened to my "hair goals" and went to great lengths to assure we were on the same page before starting. I have been a loyal client of Laura's since I moved to Baltimore from Chicago 2 years ago when she was at a different salon, so to say I was over the moon, giddy, totally pumped that she was opening her own salon is an understatement. I basically had that inner Beverly Goldberg moment and screamed on the inside "THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!" but I kept it together for the sake of not scaring the locals. Now I am not a natural blonde, in fact I have not been one since 1985 so finding a stylist that is an artist with god given talent isn't easy. I mean nobody wants to look like big bird when they are aiming for fashion week can I get an AMEN! Time and time again she hits it out of the park, nails it. I love hat I can say I'm looking for a specific color on a celebrity and can use words like sunny, fresh and natural and she just does wonders. Either she's a wizard or can see in my brain, maybe both and that's awesome. Laura is extremely talented and a visionary. I brought in my weave and yes I named her Blanche, to use for an updo in a wedding and Jeremy was a master and brought that old gal back to life with a quick color and toner and possible magic because it looked new. I swear. Even better having my weave re colored to match my hair color was not an issue at all. How cool is that. Another thing I love is that I can sit in Lauras chair tell her simply I like what you did last time can you tweak the color a little? You be the judge go with your gut and guess what I trust her and she slays that noise every time. Never a bad appointment for me. She's also patient, creative, flexible, talented, artistic, listens and really cares about her clients. Every single stylist in the salon is outstanding in not only there work and attention to detail (yes I'm nosy and watch other people's before and after a because it's like a live talk show and it's awesome. I know I'm shameless.) but they are all incredible friendly. It's sort of like being in Steel Magnolias at Truvy's with out Weezer and Rex. You can truly be yourself, chat and basically have a mini vacay while your there. The team/family dynamic the stylists share is palpable and truly heartwarming. They are all so supportive and helpful with each other it's very refreshing to see how well they work together and help one another succeed. I see Elizabeth for waxing, so far just my eye brows and lip because it's been a while since I pulled out the brazilian wax because to be honest childbirth scared me hit I'll get there someday soon. Anyway, Elizabeth is truly sensational, and I have been waxing my face since I was 11 so I know a good esthetician a mile a way. She's spot on with brows and lip wax not once has she botched my brows and always gets them right follows up with the right skin products to help with the post wax redness. Among Elizabeth's many talents she is truly passionate about her work and health listens, helps if there are skin issues, and can also help with suggestions for at home care. Let me tell you when your on the edge of 35 and can't afford Botox she has amazing tips and techniques to share. I have not received a facial yet from her but I have one scheduled at the end of the month to bust into my 35 birthday so I can review back then regarding that experience Elizabeth also takes great time in researching and exploring skin care products which I noticed a great deal of them are organic/non toxic and top of the line current treatments which only proves not only her love for her work but it's a true passion for her. I've been to Fringe a couple times before and got great styles, so I went recently late on a Friday and got a pretty funky looking cut. I was hesitant about it, but I wore it for awhile to see if I got used to it. After about a week I ended up emailing the salon saying I really was not digging the style. They were so nice & let me come back in. Justin was amazing! He talked to me about what I wasn't liking, what he could do to help fix it, and really was patient and explained every step of the process. I can't tell you how he did it, but when I left I felt 110% better! I finally feel comfortable & really happy with my cut. I would really recommend Fringe. They are great people & were so kind. I was a little embarrassed to come back in, but Justin did a great job. I didn't think I could like my hair & would just have to let it grow, but I was wrong! First time here, I'm still trying to find a salon in Baltimore. I met with the stylist, Mark, beforehand and we talked for 5-10 minutes about what I wanted. She asked specific questions and got specific answers. "Do you want layers?" "No." And yet, as she's finishing up the back she says, "I know you said no layers but I did them anyway because your hair is so thin." I explained that I said that because when my hair is short (we took off about 7") it needs the weight, otherwise it flips out all over the place. She didn't seem apologetic at all, odd for completely disregarding your clients wishes. A month later, I'm still annoyed that I need to deal with this every morning only because she decided not to listen. You're the stylist, and if you thought layers would be better, bring it up to me and we can discuss, don't just do it not knowing why I didn't want that. I have to drive 3 hours back home to my old stylist to get it fixed. Irritating that I paid $80+ just to be ignored by her and then hate my haircut. read more

So this review is more about her: I have difficult, thick, curly, Arab hair (everyone who has the same knows the struggle) and have been through many hairdressers who promised me they could deal with it. She actually can. So, for all my Arab girls and bros out there: remember last time you went to Lebanon and they totally transformed you from a little ball of fuzz into some sort of Beyoncé or Prince Charming? Markeisha does it, she does it better and faster and your hair will hold up to the Baltimore humidity. Also: apart from being really good at what she does, she is also super sweet. I've gone to Fringe a hand full of times and had wonderful service. My hair always looks incredible, but lately my appointments have been less than enjoyable. The salon is a sacred place where therapy sessions often ensue, sure, but the content from the owner as of late has completely ruined my experience at this salon. Her conversations with her clients have been bordering on unprofessional. The topic of weight loss is extremely touchy for a lot of people, especially women, and my last visit I heard nothing but her obsession with it. There's a sign in the window that boasts this salon is a safe space but the constant conversations about weight do not make me feel welcome or comfortable as a larger woman and I can't imagine the effect on people who have battled with eating disorders. She is a very talented stylist, as is her whole staff, and it would be a shame to lose clients over something like conversation topics at work. read more
