I typically wear my hair in a curly afro. I do not have a relaxer. I do have a head full of color and highlighted hair. Although without a relaxer, I am able to achieve/maintain straight/sleek looks with heat application. I've seen a few tik toks recently highlighting people with thick/textured/curly hair and their blow outs at the Dry Bar. I booked an appt via the website. If you provide your email address they will send you $10 off your first visit. Note: you must provide your email address to book online so snag that discount. There is free parking across the street (major plus). The salon is clean and inviting (major plus). The tik tok girls were offer champagne and/or mimosas, I was offered tea or water (slightly disappointed). When I arrived all the stylists had hair texture like mine, so I had no worries about someone being able to style my hair. The shampoo was nice and shortly thereafter I was seated and ready for my blow out. I'm not used to this type of brush and blow dry treatment. The brush bristles were not something I would typically use to style my hair. The blow dryer was very hot. I had to pull away once because my scalp was burning. My stylist made adjustments and I didn't experience the heat issue again. Following the blow dry my stylist moved to the flat iron. There are no mirrors in front of station so I couldn't see any of the progress. Once done I thought it was nice. I asked for big curls. It wasn't the typically curls I would wear but I knew I could easily adjust at home. I inquired about the membership (it wasn't reviewed/offered) and decided a monthly blow out (wash,condition, detangle, blow dry) sounded like something worth adding to my routine. Fast forward 6 hours later and my curls are completely gone and my hair big/full. I can easily maintain my hair at home so adding curls will not be an issue. But I do warn, this is in no way a silk press (nor intended to be). It is convenient and quick way to have someone else wash and blow dry. Also, I highly recommend a trim and treatment before arrival. Trim bc this service isn't offered here and treatment because of the heat tools. read more

The first time I went to Drybar I waited over an HOUR and didn't even get an apology. Of course, I almost missed my event that night. Yesterday I went to Drybar and waited over HALF AN HOUR on a Monday and again, no one cared less. I ended up leaving because my daughter was going to miss her senior photos. If Drybar only does blowouts, they should know exactly how long blowouts take and should plan accordingly. Ironically, there was a sign that appointments are canceled if a client arrives over 15 minutes late, but I guess it doesn't matter if it's the other way around. Drybar needs to leave more time between appointments if this is an issue or make sure that people with certain kinds of hair request extra time. read more

Service requested was a regular blow dry, for $59, called the "Southern Comfort" in their look book. When I arrived, Sheila greeted me immediately, with a smile and offered me something to drink. Within less than a minute I was offered a place to leave my things by Queenie, who walked me back to the shampoo area. Everything was wonderful. Couldn't ask for more, my hair looks better than I thought possible on a hot day like today in Baltimore. A completely positive experience. I can't comment on the stylist or the blowout because we didn't even make it that far. Despite making our appointments over a week in advance and getting two confirmation texts, my daughter and I showed up for our appointments only to be told that they had no record of them and that they were "cancelled" at 12:09 that day. (Although the person at the front desk said that she didn't recall seeing our names when she made up the tickets the day prior). My daughter had her school formal that night!! The manager was called and told me "there was nothing she could do for me because the cancellation didn't come from their store." Really?! read more

Horrible experience! I specifically booked a blowout because that was the look I was going for. I gave them a call as I was walking up to the salon since I was a couple minutes late, and they said it was okay. As soon as I walk in they told me I couldn't get a blow out and it would be dry styling. I was one minute late from the time they had told me! I had just spoke to them on the phone, and they had told me that it was okay. The girls in the front were very rude, had attitudes, and couldn't help me out. As for the service by the stylist, she was very nice and was ready to wash my hair for the blowout that I had booked and the girls in the front were very quick to say, "NO. She's getting dry styled." The stylist was very sweet and we chatted a bit. I showed her the look I was going for. I wanted very loose curls. I need up looking like a poodle... I wish I were kidding. It looked horrible. As if it were her first time curling hair and didn't know how to do it properly. I asked her to brush the curls out since they were so tight. It was ridiculous. They really let me walk out like that? Not to mention that you have to pay extra if you want product in your hair. She sprayed the tinniest amount of dry shampoo and finishing spray. Like the tinniest amount where it wasn't noticeable, and she might as well have not sprayed anything in my hair. The whole experience was just horrible. Of course I had to pay them for the service. I completely regretted going there. I could've done it myself 10x better and could've saved myself the money and headache. read more
