My family and I love the ice cream shop inside, and we stopped in after eating at Babes before we headed home today. My husband, myself and 2 year old toddler all grabbed our ice creams and went to find a place to sit. My husband suggested upstairs since it was unoccupied, and we happily climbed up the stairs as the bartender watched. We sat for about 25 minutes unbothered, and my husband decided to leave to use the restroom. My toddler and I were sitting and finishing our ice creams when the bartender walked up, stared at us for about a minute, and proceeded to exclaim that we needed to "get our stuff off the pool table" and that "it was expensive and very nice" (we had set one bag of leftovers on the edge of the wood as we were sitting on benches. No one was up there so we were not overly concerned about the placement of our leftover chicken). I moved it immediately and apologized, and she proceeded to lecture me on how nice the pool table was (I have my own thoughts on the value of that table, but that is not important). She then left and walked down the stairs, and about 30 seconds later comes back up. My toddler and I are still sitting there, and she points at my toddler and proclaims "actually SHE cannot be up here. You need to leave. Adults only". I said "alright", grabbed my toddler, and walked my 9 month pregnant self and my toddler down the stairs. We sat two feet to the left of the stairs on the ice cream side of the shop, and waited for my husband to return. We also never saw any adult only signs. After explaining what had happened to my husband, he mentioned the last few times we have come in and he has ordered a drink, she has been awful to interact with. He chalked it up to her having a bad day (or bad month). Overall, if you do go, grab your ice cream/drink and run. She unfortunately takes the ambiance away from the cool stmosphere. Protect your kids, protect your peace.

Frito Pie was Good, but I'll ask for Fritos on the side next time. They got soggy. Also wasn't a fan of the nacho cheese sauce on the bottom

When I started eating my…read moreburrito, I noticed there was no sausage in it so I opened it up to see if maybe it was clumped at the bottom. There is no sausage in it at all then I opened the one with jalapeños to see if there was sausage and there was no sausage in it. I called the store and asked if it was supposed to have sausage. I thought maybe I was wrong and they said yes and so then I told them that my burritos neither one had sausage in them and they told me to come in and they would replace them next time I was in the area so I went to the doctor then went back by there. They replaced my burritos only this time They made them super small. I ended up tearing half the tortilla off and eating it like a taco. While I appreciate them replacing the burritos, I do think they should have replaced them the an actual grande burrito and not a taco.

My go to favorites right now are the Chicken Strip Dinner and the Sweet and Spicy Gouda Burger, which is effectively a modified Sweet and Spicy bacon burger from Whataburger but made with fresh patties instead of a frozen ones. On top of all that, their ice cream is as good as ever, from the simple vanilla to the new Mexican flavors they have. It's a crying shame there isn't one in Stephenville, I sure could use something from Braum's every now and then while I study.

We visited for a late breakfast and it was very busy. We ordered avocado toast, huevos rancheros,…read moreand the waffle with eggs and bacon. We also decided on several lattes and my youngest daughter wanted one of their fruit smoothies. To be honest the food was just average. I expected the avocado toast to be a smashed avocado on toast and topped with the other ingredients, but sadly it was just an egg on the toast, with 3 or four thin slices of avocado on the top. My oldest daughter ordered the huevos rancheros and asked for no tomatoes, there were so many tomatoes in her eggs that she couldn't even pick them out. It was very disappointing. My youngest daughter liked the smoothie but she said the waffle was kind of hard. One of the lattes we received was okay but the other tasted as if the espresso was burned. Unfortunately we probably will not return.

Nothing is prettier than a coffee shop on a town square. After running through the Moments-In-Time…read moreTrail, I stopped in to get a coffee and see how their coffee is. It's a cute place! It being Sunday of Labor Day weekend meant everyone was in town, and it definitely slowed things down. There wasn't a single open table inside or outside. I wasn't sitting down for service, just grabbing things for the road, but I ordered a muffin and an iced Cinnamon Twist. I think I regret ordering the size as big as I did (their grande was like 24 oz iced) because it was quite milky (my fault), but the cinnamon and vanilla were good. The muffin was the true star of the show. It was huge, dense, and fluffy. A much-needed carb and sugar rush after my humid Granbury run. The place is super cute, and I will totally try to go back for brunch next time I visit. The place can feel a little tight when you're trying to order to-go without getting in the way of the staff, other people ordering, and the people dining in, but the place was practically at capacity when I got there. I also saw the Yelp sticker on their door, and I was like, OMG I YELP. RIYL: A bistro pulled straight out of a Hallmark Original Movie.

I arrived early enough to join my grandsons for their Friday afternoon tradition at Vampire…read morePenguin--every week after school they get to take turns picking the spot, and this week's winner was a familiar favorite. Even though I chose not to indulge myself, the boys made sure to remind me exactly how good this place is. Both ordered the same sno-cone: Ya-Badaba-Do! And honestly, watching them demolish it in record time tells you everything you need to know. Soft, fluffy shaved ice piled high, drenched in flavor, and topped generously--it barely stood a chance. The atmosphere is fun, colorful, and kid-friendly without feeling chaotic, and it's an easy win for families looking to make a simple after-school stop feel special. Judging by how fast those sno-cones disappeared, Vampire Penguin clearly knows what they're doing. A great local treat spot--and judging by my grandsons' reactions, one that never disappoints.

It took us, well Thúy, quite some to make a selection. There are a lot of options, all delicious and/or interesting sounding. In addition VP also has several yummy sounding flavors of gelato. Decisions, decisions. Thúy settled on a regular size Banana Creme Pie. As it was being made, we met Nate (owner I believe), and he gave us some info on how things are made. This is not ordinary ice, well it's not plain. The ice used is flavored. There are at least 8 flavors, and each order has its own yummy base. Inside is painted in bright colors, and it left. Me wondering, "What do the colors, vampires, and penguins have to do with each other?" Note: I still don't know. So now it's time to dig into our Banana Cream Pie. Wow, the flavored ice totally caught me of guard. Totally delicious. And the real, fresh, banana on the side completed this yummy, icy, treat. So while I initially thought the priced seemed on the high side, after eating this delicious yummy treat, I'm OK with it. It's not an ever day treat, but I'll definitely be back to try more flavors.
