The carnival rides are included so that puts it a little above others. Parking was well organized! I was scared it'd be a fight for a spot situation in a big parking lot. There's people directing it all and you park in the open grass in neat rows. All that said, I probably wouldn't go again. I feel like it's a given they'll be long lines at any horror attraction. 3 stars not because I had to wait so long but because the haunted areas were just not worth the wait. The actors were fun though, built off my groups comments and leaned into it. Ideal if you don't want to be terrified but just a little anxious. I was just left unimpressed by the hayride and indv houses/areas. I can look past the long lines, that's the case anywhere but just a little worst here. Came here with some friends last night, the line for the hayride was SO LONG. We were in line for over 2 hours before we were able to go on. Then the hayride drops you in the cemetery, where there's ANOTHER LINE. I feel like I spent $60 just to wait in line. We got there around 8 and it was midnight when we got to the 4th attraction because of all the waiting we had to do. We wound up tapping out because we were hungry but we didn't have a chance to really experience anything else. 2.5/5. Listen, I love a good spooky attraction this time of year. I've been to plenty and enjoyed my time, but I was very underwhelmed with the experience here. First, the price. It's extremely expensive to wait in lines this long (even when you get VIP). There are so many people here you almost HAVE to buy the VIP so you don't spend 7 hours here. $95 with fees and everything for one ticket. Next, the actors were underwhelming. They are trying so hard to get as many people through, that a lot of the times they were not even reset for my group and we were just walking through a pitch black room. The "spooky" aspect for the majority of these set up's was just making you walk in the absolute pitch dark through a maze. Which again, I like the concept, but not for the majority of the attractions. The staff there were nice and helpful, and the decorations that I could see were pretty spooky. Won't go again just because of the crowds, price and overall experience. TLDR; you need to spend $95 to buy a VIP pass so you don't wait in a 4 hour line for a hayride and some mediocre spooky attractions. read more

The only haunt I will go back to every year. My husband took me here on one of our first dates a few years back and I loved it! The rides, the different attractions, and the hayride is sooo fun! Good scares and you can tell they put a lot of effort in the performances. The hayride line is the longest since it takes you to the majority of the attractions. After my second time going, we decided vip is the route to go because you could be waiting in that line for 3 hours. Get VIP online!!! we made the mistake of trying to upgrade our tickets when we got there and they were all sold out. I go to several haunts every year. I have never been to Frightland but I heard so much about it. This year I decided to try it out and was honestly my whole reason for my vacation in Delaware. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. This is now one of my all-time favorites. They have 8 attractions for $40 which is honestly a steal. If you live in the area, you do not have to do them all in one night. I don't live in the area so I did all of them but you have that option which is nice since these attractions do take time. I wanted to get a t-shirt because I visited the shop and they were only $10 which, again, is AMAZING but by the time we finished everything, the shop was closed which was a disappointment. I really didn't feel like carrying around my purchases. The hayride was amazing! The animatronics were top notch and so different. I loved that the hayride didn't really slow down. A lot of these hayrides stop and then you know people are going to scare you. This one stopped maybe once or two, otherwise just kept going. I don't know what came first 'Frightland' in DE or 'Night of Terror' in NJ but the hayrides are very similar... and that's not a bash. They are BOTH amazing! All of the walk-throughs were great as well. I actually liked that they didn't have a ton of actors. I like the props, the animatronics, etc. I would say if someone told you that you had to skip of the things there, I would skip the Zombie Prison. It was extremely short, not much going on and overall kind of a waste. But that is the only one I would say that about. The rest were all amazing. I will say you will be there a LONG time. I got there at 9:30pm and we left at 1:30am. So come early and enjoy it. I would also say come earlier in the October month. We came on the 2nd of October and already it was pretty busy! The wait time is ridiculous. Line after line. Was on line for more than 4 hours just for the hayride. Mind you they only have 1 hayride for a Saturday evening. After the hayride, it's another line for the other attractions. Aside from the long wait times, they group you with at least 20 people, so how can you get the haunted house experience? VIP--to many VIP tickets were sold and there was a wait time for that as well, so it was useless. You are actually better off on waiting to near closing time to avoid the 4 hour + wait time for the hayride. Lastly, the attitude and rudeness from the staff members is very unprofessional. Worth the drive from Philly, but plan to do VIP! We hit some traffic on the way over and did vip to make sure we got to do all of the attractions. The hayride didn't have as many actors as I expected, but it was still well done. The other attractions had a good variety and our group of 7 had a few screams and some laughter. It was nice to end the night with the carnival rides and food which mostly stayed open until at least 11:30pm. Then some rides started shutting down. We were there for a total of about 3 hours so plan accordingly. I did appreciate the gravel so it wasn't very wet. read more

We went the wknd before Halloween. This place was understaffed. Long line on the road leading to parking lot , over 1 hr wait. Long distance from gravely parking lot to park. We bought our tix online , and had to wait in a cattle chute style to get in . The wait was longer than the ppl who bought their tix there!? Over 1 hour wait in cattle chute style line to get on the hayride. No benches, no lights, loud terrible music while waiting and shuffling forward amongst the drunk high crowd. The hayride is all we did after all the line waiting. It was about 30 min long and fun. Typical overpriced corn dog, soda, funnel cake. Highly recommend to go early in the season when it first opens, go on a weekday night, go early, get VIP expensive tix to skip the lines $80 ea, wear thick soled comfortable flat sneakers /shoes. Bring lots of extra money for amusement rides and drinks/food. Bring ear plugs. read more

I have enjoyed going every year. It's been my favorite place by far and it's close and the actors have always been amazing. This year not so much. Actors were scarce and didn't seem like they wanted to be there. Zombie prison was awesome but every single other one was just mediocre. I expected more because I always have so much fun. Idalia manor was the worst because there wasn't really anyone in there and they change the whole theme which was not a good look. I reccomend having a talk with your staff about wanting to be there- if they don't want to be there hire someone who does. I may not come again next year like I do every year for the past 6 or 7 years. read more

Frightland used to be very good years ago. Not good enough to be in the Top 10 Haunted Attractions even then though. We just went two weeks ago to give it a last try and we were sorely disappointed. Aside from maybe one new large-scale animatronic monster, the rest was still the same. The sets are old and tired, and the actors just don't seem to be into it. Very weak and flat performances. I was visiting with a group of my friends and we all enjoyed the playful monsters in the gathering area and even a relaxing sit for a group photo on the electric chair. Even though it was hot, no corner was left empty. As in prior reviews: Over all 5 out of 5. Entertaining, fun, and well worth the money. This is one of those time i wish you could give ratings in half star increments. We went on 10/5 (Saturday) and arrived pretty early. The ticket line was super short, which seemed like a good sign that we wouldn't be waiting long. That turned out to be not so true. We all got the $40 tickets, making this one of the more expensive options for a haunted attraction in the tri-state area. Their website suggests in several different places that you go to the hayride first, so all 19 of us did just that. When we entered the line, the pen was only half full. I thought for sure it would go fast. Two hours later we were just stepping onto the hayride. It was a brutal wait and most people in the party wanted to take a nap at that point. After the hayride the next three went pretty quick because they are connected. The house attraction was kinda cool but there was almost no actors in there which was odd. Overall, it was a good haunted attraction in terms of the attractions and haunts themselves, but the wait times for the hayride and the barn and the house were just brutal. I'd hate to be there during the peak crowd night closer to Halloween. read more

WHAT a nightmare! And not the kind of nightmare you're paying for when you go to a haunted house. Having purchased tickets online during the summer, we arrived to Frightland at 6 PM on the 23rd. There was a line of cars a mile back waiting to turn onto the grounds. We sat in the car for an hour. Once parked, we then waited in a two-hour long line for the hayride. Still in line at 9M without having been to a single attraction and seeing nothing but a wall of frustrated people as far as the eye can see, we gave up and left. Driving out of the parking lot, we notice that police had been called to direct traffic on the street due to the sheer unending crush of cars trying to enter from all directions. I'm not sure why there was, without exaggeration, what seemed like 2,000 people and counting in attendance - at a haunted house that could maybe reasonably accommodate 300 people at a time. I noticed on the ticket I bought online months ago that it wasn't a timed reservation, but an open window from 6 to 10. Were they selling MORE tickets on-site last night? Did they throw open the gates and yell out "COME ONE, COME ALL"??? I have been in the past and had a GREAT time. It's never been like this! This isn't a complaint about the attraction itself, its actors, its ability to entertain. But last night, the only thing scary about Frightland was its poor management and inability to set a capacity cap. read more

Went here for the first time with my husband and teenage daughter. I don't do scary but promised my family I would 'face my fears'. Sadly, they held me to it and off we went. When you walk in, there are a few carnival type rides and games. Nice if you have little kids (or big kids like me) who don't like anything too scary. There are also a few places to grab a bite to eat or drink. The attractions were awesome; we did the entire package which was all 8 attractions (4 indoor, 4 outdoor and the rides). The price was around $30. I think it was worth the money. The attractions were scary and the indoor attractions are VERY dark so you basically bump your way around until you reach the end. I loved the haunted hayride. Scary but fun. In all, I would recommend this place to families with older children. Great family fun evening for us. read more

Went with a few friends and we got the $40 ticket which included all 8 frightland attractions and the amusement rides. I wish we would have only gotten the outdoor attraction ticket because those were much better than the indoor attractions. The hayride was surprisingly long and full of entertainment and it drops you off at the other outdoor attractions. The line for the hayride was the longest but after that there really were no other lines. The other outdoor attractions were pretty good. The actors were fun and generally didn't touch you. I did not enjoy the indoor attractions as much because many of them just included total darkness so your basically wondering along feeling for the walls and you can't see the ghouls around you. It kind of ruined the experience cause you are so focused on feeling your way through that the ghouls kind of get over looked. read more

We waited in line most of the night, only to be disappointed after when only 2-3 actors were in some attractions (mostly just cheesy props). I hate to sound like BAH HUMBUG, but when you have to stop everything to get a traumatized screaming kid out... you ruin it for everyone! I am very disappointed, offended, and in shock for expecting for a fun and entertaining evening. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I arrived to the entrance at 7:15pm and in line for about 2 hours as we speak. It's 9:30pm and I haven't even arrived to the front of the hayride. This company is poorly managed, and not run efficiently. I would not be surprised if this whole business gets shut down. After the 2 hour wait there is only 1 portopotty! After going past the first set of 5 lines, there is a 4 line covered in black burlap to cover the customer and to trick us that we are close to the front. Not worth your money. Not even for VIP. The wait time for the attractions are ridiculous. It definitely takes away from the experience no matter how great the attractions are. They need to limit the amount of people they admit each night or hire more staff to help with the flow. we waited in the hayride line for 2 hours!!! Then ahead were more lines again. All in all it was fun you really do get your money's worth. There were 8 attractions with the pass that we got. I didn't bother to get the vip pass because the lines were not that bad. The only long line was for the hayride. The only thing I didn't like about it was in each attraction it's literally pitch black. So you honestly can't even navigate in any of them, that was pretty annoying. There was really no interaction from the cast and they only scare the first people in line, so if you're in the back you're basically just watching. We didn't even get to finish all of the attractions, so we will have to go back and make sure we get them all done. Other than that it was fun. I didn't think that it was that scary. This place is ok with frighting themes . Get there at least one hour early the lines are huge. Opens until 6pm it takes about 45 min to 1 hour to get in. If you purchase tickets online after you are you have to get in line again for them to give you the tickets you need to be able to go in the fright zones. When. You get to enjoy the first show will be two hours after. Around 8pm you get to go the next adventure or go to the carnal zone that it's very little. Tonight was our first and last visit. After paying for our tickets and being told everything was open despite the rain and waiting in line for over 90 minutes, we were then told the hayride and outdoor attractions were closed. A decision should be made earlier in the day. If an emergency happens, then refunds should be given. It's the right thing to do. Being given a new ticket and being told you can come back does not suffice when you live over 3 hours round trip and have to pay over $20 in tolls. It's questionable business practice to be unwilling to refund the money when you close the attraction. I do not recommend coming to this scare under any circumstance. First off, Happy Halloween to everyone who loves Halloween as much as my family. I'm obsessed with Halloween and visit a haunted house every year. We try to find the scariest and best attractions year after year. My daughters and I decided to drive 1 1/2 to Frightland last night and I would give this attraction a 4 from a 1-10 scale. The scariest were The Attic and The Cemetery . The Haunted Hayride was an epic fail, if you like to be scared and I mean really scared totally skip the Hayride. If you do decide to go, I would recommended the VIP pass for an extra $20 so you can bypass the long lines. Be safe and Have Fun! read more

I've been to this place twice, 2011 and just in October 2013 and I would definitely recommend Fright Land. 8 attractions for $35, a few carnival rides for fun, some carnival food=a fun night outdoors with friends and family! My first time was awesome, I guess because it was new to me and I didn't know what to expect. Great actors, makeup and scenery. Because the attraction is situated on acres of open land you get that eeriness that's necessary for a scare. This year I went with the same family members plus a cousin who went for the first time so I was more excited to have fun with her and see her reactions. I don't think I'll go again anytime soon unless that change things because I now know what to expect so there's no thrill. One major thing I've noticed this year was that there were so many more people, I guess it's become very popular. The wait in the lines were very long compared to the last time I was there in 2011,so I suggest you pay extra for the VIP pass, it's worth it! Also make sure you keep your pocketbook/bag in the car...you can't bring it in. I had to walk all the way back to my car to put it in the trunk. read more

We came the weekend before Halloween, with a group of about (9) people or so. We all loved it! However, if you go with a large group, my suggestion would be to enter the houses/barns in groups of two or three. When 9 of you are together, only the first two people will get surprised by the spooks, everyone behind them will hear/see it coming and not get scared. We did the hayride first, and that alone was worth the $40 bucks. So creative. I would also suggest to do the hayride last. We did it first because that's what the website said to do, but everyone did that first, so it was actually the longest line. But long lines aren't a bad thing here, because the spooks come out and mess with people waiting in line. In my opinion, I think 12 year olds could have a lot of fun here. Little kids can have fun outside on the rides, but not in the haunted stuff. It was freezing the night we came- dress in layers, and wear gloves! The food was the most disgusting food I've ever had. So sad. How do you mess up deep fried Oreos? The teenagers all got pizza and said it was awful too. Sooo.....maybe eat a good dinner before entering the park. All in all, the experience is what you make of it. If you want to laugh and get surprised, you'll have a blast, but if you have a crappy attitude, then it won't be much fun. OK so my review of Frightland may be slightly biased because I worked there when I was younger so let me get it out of the way. I worked on the hayride as Leather Face and apparently was so good at it they filmed me doing my scene on the hayride and had the video on there website for several years. That being said, I was never hired back? Never found out why? I was well liked by the employees and staff just don't know but anyways I won't let there unknown reason for rehire corrupt my review. Frightland is a pretty awesome place to go during its season. They are constantly updating the attractions and creating new scares. The carnival is not to bad but its the same rides every year. The Gravitron, Ferris Wheel, Bumper Cars, Swinger, the Pharaoh's fury and several kiddie rides. Jimmy Houghton has done the carnival there for several years and believe still does Frightland. They have good rides but not well kept up like other shows like Henry T Cole shows or S&S Amusements. But they do offer some of the best concession stand food like boardwalk fries and hands down one of the best candy apples I've ever had. There have been times I've gone, paid for parking, waited through the line to get in just to buy a candy apple and walk the midway. I'm a former Carney so I sort of feel at home while I'm there. There's nothing better then an ice cold coke with a bucket of boardwalk fries and finishing it of with a candy apple on the ferris wheel. Now I mentioned paid parking. That's a bit of a bummer but its just $5.00 and that all goes to leukemia research so that's cool right? If you get hungry, get all your food in the carnival area. They have tented picnic table seating and several food options. This is important info because the food for sale in the Frightland side isn't that good. Things like hot dogs, burgers, fries and pizza are all standard fare. They have chilli but its not very good. Plus there's no place to sit and eat. You can't eat in line while you wait which sucks. And your going to wait and I mean forever. One year I was smart and brought a walking cane that had a seat built into it. After standing for 3&1/2 hours in line for Idalia Manor the seat was a welcome friend, much to the shagrin of my friends. Do the Hayride first!!!! This is SO IMPORTANT!!!! It closes first so its recommended to do it first. And come early. Buy your tickets online and be at the gate a half hour before opening. Trust me. Sure you may say, "I'd rather go when its dark out" it will be plenty dark by the time you get on the hayride and your wait will be only 10-20 minutes. If you can't arrive early, spend the extra money to get they VIP/RIP fright pass. These will get you to the head of the line just like at Six Flags. It costs a bit more but well worth it if you don't want to wait 2+ hours in line to get in. And that's important, because there are several attractions. Each with its own line to get in. All in all its a great place to go during the Halloween season. If you go here's the deal. You can get individual admission into individual attractions or buy a fright pass for all the attractions plus a carnival wristband which gets you unlimited rides at the carnival. And for a little more you can upgrade your pass to VIP/RIP and get access to front of the line service. And if you do plan to work there all I can say is.... Its a fun place to work, the pay is pretty good, being your basically being paid to scare people. They have a employee after season picnic/BBQ every year and I suppose there's a chance they will hire you back? read more

It was cool. Kinda like Pennhurst. DO THE HAYRIDE FIRST IF YOU ARE NOT VIP!!! I only have 1 problem. I upgraded to VIP and I never got my wristband for rides. So I didn't get to go on rides and by the time I realized we were supposed to have wristbands, the entry ticket booths were closed. It's not something I would really do again. Once is enough...but great time. My favorite was the attic and the hayride. For some reason the ghouls didn't really interact with us. They always interacted with the people in front of us or back of us. For frightland owners....please make better signs for VIP. The hayride VIP, people thought the bathroom line was VIP. The attic VIP was sorta hidden behind the photo booth. When we realized it was the VIP line, there was no one in the line and the regular line was really long. read more

Went for the first time to any of these types of places with a group of 30 yr olds, was fantastic. First off if Fri or Sat get the VIP pass, for an extra 15$ your wait is never more than a few minutes and some of these lines were looong otherwise. Idalia manor is great, lots of surprises but the decorations and scene setups were creepy. i figured the haunted hayride would be lame and for 10 yr olds (under 12 not even allowed actually), but that was a lot of fun and creepy as well. i was expecting 2 attractions to be good while the rest lame, it was the opposite and was indeed fun and creepy. the VIP pass also gets you unlimited amusement rides which were on the smaller side but still a nice changeup from the haunted attractions. Zombie Prison was the lamest, but anytime you are separated from people in pitch black its always creepy. it was great, i would go again next year. read more
