Fun Halloween Activity for the kids. Brought my daughter down to meet a group of friends. It's located in the abandoned Old Town Mall downtown Baltimore. I was able to find parking in one of the old parking lots. Rather treacherous with the old tires that had been dumped and the lack of parking lines. It was pretty much a free for all's It was well organized. We purchased our tickets online so only had to check in when we arrived. Then we got a group number. It was a short wait for about 15-20 minutes before being let it. Some of the performers were out wandering the crowd giving out some jump scares. There was a hot dog cart, bar, and ice cream truck onsite if you wanted something to eat or drink. A fun group activity that I recommend trying out if you are a Halloween fan. read more

This haunt is awesome! Took my 15 year old son & some friends and we all had a great time. The setting in Baltimore couldn't be more fitting, such a decrepit area, really added to the spook factor. Staff & characters were all friendly & stayed in character. They really put effort into this and don't just jump out & startle you, it's all very entertaining. Everything was well organized and the line went smoothly. Venue is a huge supporter of veterans and regularly donates tickets to VetTix. Definitely recommend this place! read more

I've heard a lot about this place so I decided to check it out this year. This place definitely has some perks such as FREE parking, and the location is great. It's in this falling apart area of Baltimore that is pretty creepy, almost looks like a movie set. They also sell drinks as well as food. I also like that this place is a haunted house where actors can touch you. They can only lightly touch you but good enough for me! It was a nice haunt. They had some great animatronics, some great hiding spots for actors and I did jump a few times. It is very dark, even one of the actors jumped when I was walking past and said "We scared each other!" She couldn't see me and I couldn't see her. They did have some very unique things happening in this one that I haven't seen in others, which I won't mention incase anyone decides to go. Overall, it was a good haunt. Would I come back for this haunt? No. It was a one and done for me. Would I recommend? Sure. It wasn't super gory or super intense, and the waiting area IS outside so you may want to dress warm. read more

This is a great haunt! I'm a nurse by trade but worked here for the season. I went through on one of the last nights and they got a few good jumps out of me! If you're ready to be so scared you crash into emergency exits and stumble into the hallway or hyperventilate and the demonic nurse needs to tend to you.... Im aware I'm bias but it was a life changing event and I'm so surprised with what i learned about myself throughout this weird chapter. read more

It's a real fun haunt. We bought regular price tickets thinking it wouldn't be so bad going early but there were tons of people so we upgraded on site to a VIP pass. The side show performances are a nice touch...would love to see them include fortune tellers as an add on. The atmosphere is more carnival like than gore fright and we enjoyed all the jump scares. read more

The area the haunt is located in is creepy and definitely added to the experience. Beyond that, everything else was wayyyyy subpar to be $30 for one attraction. The wait was ridiculously long, but this is to be expected on a Saturday night close to Halloween (we waited more than 2.5 hours overall). But the way they had the line set up was really confusing and difficult to navigate. They gave you a wristband with a group number and when your group number was called THEN you could get in line to wait. My friends and I were sitting around for about an hour and half confused while waiting for our number. The place was packed and loud and there was only one employee with a dinky bullhorn calling out the group numbers. It was impossible to hear. They called maybe two group numbers an hour, so if you weren't right next to that ONE employee with his ONE tiny bullhorn, there's no way you would hear your number being called. When we finally heard our number called and we got in line, the wind started to pick up. Obviously these people had not planned for any inclement weather because the tents they had set up were all blowing away (they ended up just putting everything away, which is a bummer because the performers come as part of my $30 ticket price), things were blowing off the abandoned buildings into the street, trash was everywhere. It was kinda scary! The employees were all running around panicked trying to fix everything...nothing was planned out...don't you think you'd want to anchor down the tents people are performing in? After we got into the line, it took about another hour and a half just to get to the door to get into the haunt. We were all very excited to get in and get scared because the trailer online had a bunch of cool and intricately designed monsters in it...NONE!!!! of which were actually in the haunt. ***Whatever trailer Nevermore put out was a GROSS misrepresentation of what we actually saw.**** This haunt was....sad. All of the actors were literally just people in Victorian costumes with white and black paint on their faces...it's just...not scary. I remember in the trailer there was some monster with multiple faces and another crazy blue thing that looked like Avatar...yeah don't expect any of that. All you'll find is "ghosts" in corduroy overalls and hoop skirts with black paint around their eyes. For $30!!! It lasted about 10-15 minutes and we left wondering where the rest of the attraction was. Its glaringly obvious there's not much competition in Baltimore City. read more

As others have said, by far the best part of this haunt is the location - it's in a more or less abandoned outdoor strip mall where half the buildings are falling apart and dilapidated, it's super atmospheric, creepy, and very fitting for a haunted house. Just looking at it from the outside it feels like something you'd see in a movie. The good things are that they have a parking lot on site (I think it's free too), they sell beer (the beer line was always really short) and there is a food truck with pretty decent food. Both the food and beer are fairly priced. Unfortunately, that's about it. Now to the bad: the lines were incredibly long. Now we went on halloween so that's to be expected, but I think they could have managed it better. You have to wait in one line for 20+ min to "check in" and get your wrist band before you can go wait in the real line. Overall we waited over 2 hours to get in. That wouldn't have been so bad but the haunt is ABSURDLY short. It's literally 10 minutes; this is the shortest legit haunt (by far!!) that I have ever been to. There are barely any props or decorations inside, it seems like it's mostly actor-driven. The actors are fine and there are a couple places where you stop and they talk to you, but it doesn't make up for the fact that you walk through a mostly empty warehouse for 10 min and that's it. It seems like the building it's in is HUGE, yet it's so underutilized. This place reminded me of Brighton Asylum and I figured it would be like that - multiple floors, maybe even multiple buildings, but nope. Just a quick walk and that's it. It ends super abruptly too, like- you're being talked to by an actor and then oh that's the exit. Very weak. I'm honestly surprised they go to all the trouble to put this thing on when that's all they offer. One of the most underwhelming haunts I've ever been too. We went to Kim's Krypt a couple weeks ago; I'd say Kim's was a 9.5/10 while compared to that Nevermore is like a 2.5/10. Guess I'm glad I checked it out once, but I won't be back. Only come here if you don't like haunted houses and want the experience to be over quickly. read more

I enjoyed my visit to Nevermore Haunt! The line was about 40 minutes long with a general admission ticket. But they made an effort to make waiting in line fun, with characters wandering around, a bar and a stage with a man performing kitschy magic tricks. The haunted house takes about 15-20 minutes to go through, with lots of frights and staged scenes. It is a light contact haunted house, so be prepared for the monsters to tap you and get all up in your personal space. I definitely jumped and screamed more than once, but it wasn't gory or super intense. Had a good time, and would definitely recommend. You will likely have to spend some time waiting outside, so wear warm clothes! read more

From the ticketing process (Raquel is very responsive, and helped me with purchasing tickets for my son's birthday party; she was friendly, informative, and very patient with my many, many questions ), to the free onsite parking, to the friendly and very competent staff, all the way through the haunt and out the other side, The Nevermore Haunt is a total class act. Don't be deterred by the location; it only adds to the spooky atmosphere. They have security, and again, very competent staff who are on top of everything. I've been to the Nevermore three times now, yet they've only been open for two years. We went once on their opening year, and then I went twice this year. I love it, and it's a "must-do" for me each year. It feels like it should be closer to Station North or MICAland - I would be surprised to find that it isn't full of MICA and Peabody students, because it definitely has an artsy, slightly offbeat feel to it that I love; they created an "Old Baltimore" theme and bring Poe's stories to life and do it creatively and artistically on a limited budget that brings genuine Halloween charm and creepiness yet is completely and absolutely tasteful. It's in an abandoned mall in a pretty empty part of town, so it starts feeling creepy before you even arrive. This year, they have drinks and some limited food available for you outside, so you can block party a bit and hang out before heading in. Sorry, have no idea what the drink or food prices are, I'm there to enjoy myself and support them not get a cheap drink on. For me the experience starts right as your in line with a piano player playing creepy, odd random bits on the piano. This year they added an accordion player (a real treat ! I wish I knew who you were !). The characters are all actors and actresses who make personas for themselves and live them out - no store-bought mask/jump-scares going on here. The costumes are all creative takes on period pieces and very intriguing and well done. Although the musicians are just playing random sounds I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were Peabody students; it would be great to here them play some actual pieces. I bet there's plenty of old Romanian songs that are dark and dreary :) Once inside there's plenty of decorations but it's all low tech. Don't expect animatronics, sensors, etc. There are a variety of sets that appear to be hand-built and are very nice and period looking. There are a variety of actors and actresses who do a great job of acting out what I presume are famous Poe stories, and overall it's quite entertaining. Scary, however, it is not. You can quite easily take small kids through here, tame dates, the grandparents, etc. It has an overall creepy feel to it, but it's more like a living stage of the slightly macabre and gothic than a "haunted house" per se. I'd tell you more about it, but I think they prefer to not have their secrets spilled. While I do absolutely still go to as many other haunted houses as I can squeeze in, I always make time for Nevermore. While it's not particularly thrilling, it has a cozy down home Station North kind of feel to it, and I admire what they're doing. All in all I find it very enjoyable and it was my 2nd and 4th haunted house visit this year. There may be a few ways they can improve without violating the principles they built Nevermore on: - Some subtle electronics or pre-built effects could add to the experience; not noisemakers or light effects, but perhaps a subtle holographic image here or there. - I think a magician or sorcerer would be right up their alley. Create a few very macabre tricks and have them be a station within the haunt; this venue seems to thrive on portraying talent and I think there's a way this could be worked in very well, particularly since you could built in quasi-permament stage magic props and devices. It could still be dark and gothic yet still tasteful like they have going on now. Plus, everybody loves magic. - Slightly dimmer lighting and perhaps some fog could make the internal area seem larger, although it could also make people take longer going through. Anyhow, I think what Nevermore has going is great; it's very Baltimore. Nope, no over the top effects or stunts and I won't stop going to other haunts but I won't stop going here either. If any artsy musical type I think you'd like it very much. If you prefer the stadiums over MICAland, maybe not so much. If you are looking for a local haunted attraction to go to, I will recommend Nevermore Haunt. I was very impressed with this haunted attraction. It was affordable and worth the money. With it being the old Old Towne Mall made it even better. The characters were very respectful and real-like. The rooms were decorated nicely. I loved the idea of parking at Fells Point and catching the 'FREE' shuttle over to the attraction. After attending the attraction, we caught the shuttle back. Using our wristbands there were 4 participating bars that we went to and received drink & food specials. It was a nice way to end the night. read more

Nice idea and location, however poor execution. The biggest issue is the length, it's a lot of anticipation for not much of a scare.10-15 minutes to walk through for minimal scares and ok effects. Some of the rooms were decorated nicely however I found certain items to be cheesy or cheap. The actors didn't seem to do much, I'm not going to be scared by you just standing there... you need to jump out or something. They do sell beers in line, however you can't take them on your walk... I've done field of screams and kings dominion and I would recommend them over this. The shuttle to fells point is a nice feature as are the drink specials. I believe they have a Groupon for this at one point, however that disappeared mid October. read more

I went on a Sunday night and had a little bit of trouble finding the parking area for the haunt, since the signs were small and there were no lights. Once parked I was a bit concerned that the area wasn't very safe. Just then the parking security guard bellowed out and let us know we were in the right spot and that the area was monitored. He also explained that nevermore runs a free shuttle to fells point. So I could have parked there and shuttle over! Open waking up the Olde Town Mall is a bit creepy with old closed shops and over grown weeds along the walk way. However once we turned the corner Nevermore was fully lit and very inviting. Once through security the greeters answered a few questions and we bought tickets at the door. $ 25.00 per person,you get a free pint at jailbreak, and a free shuttle. So with out even have entered the price seems reasonable. Most haunts around are 20 -50 per person. The actual haunt is in a four story old furniture store and there theme seems to be more of an old baltimore (1800's I think, meets steam punk). After going over the rules, they allow the actors to do "light touching" so it's more of fully engaged haunt they some places I have been. I don't like to ruin the scenes so I'll just rate the actors and scenes: Actors- got really involved, they had good energy and never broke character. I did a nice waltz one scene. The people popping out were well timed and well hidden (one guy had me on the floor twice, bravo). The judge was funny and interacted well with the responses he received. Scenes- I wish some of the "bigger props" were better hidden, but the dock area was amazing, the lighting was well done, and most of the scene details were great. Negatives- could be longer, was about 15 to 20 minutes. Overall 5 out of 5. I got truly scared, the acting was top notch, the scenes were well done. At the end I was out of breath and smiling from a good haunt. read more

Too much for not enough. 10 minute walk through. This is a first year haunt, which is understandable. But $25? I've paid that for top quality, hour long haunts that have tons of effects and actors. This one has too dark scenes, predictable scares, and it was no more than 10 minutes to get through walking slowly. There was perhaps one or two actors and scenes we could see that were somewhat interesting, but otherwise, our group felt like we wasted our money. Perhaps a more reasonable price should be negotiated, at least until this place gains some sort of reputation and improves it's walkthrough experience. read more

I was attacked by an actor here, and it was not part of the show. The man screamed at me, kept coming toward me, and blocking my path when I tried to get by. Another actor had to intervene and physically put himself in between me and the abuser to protect me. He eventually went away but came back three more times and threatened to beat up both me and the actor who had intervened. Before this happened, I also noticed this guy violating one of the major rules of the Haunt - continuing to touch customers after he was told to stop. I witnessed several customers yelling at him "I told you not to touch me," while he followed them, continuing to touch them. He also made creepy comments to customers in "character" that referenced rape. No action was taken after I reported this incident, and I soon found myself the target of online bullying by other Nevermore staff, including people who claimed that they were managers at Nevermore. Friends began showing me posts that had been made in various Facebook groups about me in which I was called a liar and mentally unstable. The abuser is still there. Definitely stay away from this place. read more

Not for me. I was pretty disappointed with this haunt. It was very very short and can't honestly say I was genuinely scared even once. Some parts I found funny. Extremely overpriced for what you get, $30 is quite a bit, it was maybe worth $10. The best part of the entire experience was the location it was held. An old abandoned strip mall in a very sketchy area of east baltimore. Wouldn't recommend overall, probably one of the most dissatisfying haunts I have ever been to read more

Walk from bar to bar in Fells, have a couple drinks and then get on the shuttle to the haunted house, that is a great feature. $25 was definitely pricey for how long it lasted. 10 minute walk through where the best part was the anticipation of what was going to happen while waiting in line. All 8 of us liked the room that moved, it completely took us by surprise. It's their first year, so hopefully next year it will be better. read more

So I went to this haunted house with my boyfriend and I thought the whole experience was fun. We arrived and took the shuttle to Penny Black and had a cocktail then came back and went through the haunted attraction. I thought the whole experience was a lot of fun and they did manage to scare us both quite a bit! The cast stayed in character and each room was fun and different in itself. The only reason I am giving a 4 and not a 5 is because the exhibit is very short for the amount of money they charge. 25.00 is a bit steep for the maybe 10 minutes it takes to walk through the attraction. It definitely needs to be longer. We were advised to spend longer times in each room but how much time can you spend in the room realistically once the person has popped out and scared the shit out of you. I hope next year they work on the length and I will be back! read more

I had the pleasure of visiting this haunt tonight with two fellow staffers from a local MD haunt we work. Because we have extensive experience in working haunts, we of course wanted to compare the nevermore haunt with ours. I was very impressed with what I saw here, they might be the new guys on the block, but it does not show in the outstanding production quality. It was very well organized, clean and the energy level of the cast was extremely upbeat. The Haunt occupies a former furniture store that is over 100 years. Placing it here, was a streak of pure genius. This building screams creepy from the min that you see it, and once you enter inside it becomes even more evident. Speaking to haunt director afterwards, he indicated it even be actually haunted!! The scenes inside are very well done, built with professional realism of a Hollywood style. Several pop and scare elements throughout the attraction always keep you on your toes. The cast interaction with the patrons was top notch and it keeps you engaged and interested the entire time you are inside. All and all a very enjoyable night and I do highly recommend this haunt to anyone who loves Halloween as much as do. James "Sharky" Guay read more

I went with a group of six, I recommend going in pairs and only entering 2 at a time so that everyone in the group gets the jump scares. The final scene was super nice and creative! This is a great haunt. I really wanted to give them a 5 but there are a few reasons why I didn't. First the good. The location makes it really creepy, really sets the mood. They had a contortionist outside which was fun. They have real bathrooms (around the backside), so much better than a port-a-potty. May not seem important until you have drank a couple of beers (which they serve). There were plenty of scares and real actors, which was great! I do wish some of the parts were darker but the scares are good. This was my second time, I has gone when it was open for Light City in April. Now why I couldn't give 5 stars. It was less than 20 minutes and that was with them holding you up so you don't catch up to the group in front of you (which by the way they do very very well). AND it ends VERY abruptly. Very. It's just another room and then an exit door - a push exit door. I'm use to a final scare in other haunts that didn't happen. It was weird and felt like they just ran out of space or ideas, which was disappointing. Their presence of security was lacking in the parking lot. It's Baltimore city and honestly not the greatest of areas so there should be more presence in the parking lot. There was one guy dressed in all black standing around. The truth is there was no way to know he was security other than he was standing at the entrance of the lot. As 3 females walking to their cars in the dark it was a little unnerving and I work in the city so I'm use to it. I would recommend this haunt. It's probably one of my favorites. I've been to this haunted attraction numerous times since its opening 3 years ago, and every time I go it gets even better. The creativity and passion by the staff and actors is unmatched by any haunted house I have ever been to. This past season they have added concessions and street performers, which is a welcome addition, especially for those members of your group who are a little too scared to go inside haha. It is also incredibly convenient to get to. Not only is there plenty of parking on site, but the shuttle service to downtown Baltimore make it a perfect event to tie into a night out on the town. I cannot wait to check it out multiple times this October and see what new twists and turns they have in store read more

For the past three or four years, I was a regular at Bennett's Curse. It progressively got worse and is now in a carpeted shoe store. We decided to head to The Nevermore Haunt. We arrived and the mall it was in was scary enough. We got in, pretty quickly, and the rest was great although a bit short. Spoiler alert!!! Just went there with two of my coworkers friends because my brother has a discount code. The shuttle to pick you up is nice and thoughtful. Other than that... all go down hill. The meet and greet hostesses' make up tell you they are mediocre at best. You can also tell that they rent the actors' clothing, so all of them are very clear. None of the actors are really in character, except one girl kept asking us to look at the wall. We all thought something will come out, but we were all disappointed. All the walls are the same color-white, they don't even paint them, really? Mostly only one type of lightning- flashing. Almost no decoration. No blood, prop or anything. Clean new surgical instruments next to a skeleton... speechless. One thing they have a lot of- old barrels. The whole place smell like new construction zone. They could have turned it into a haunted construction gone wrong $25, not worth it. I paid $20, still not worth it...! Sorry that if I sound harsh, but they really didn't try hard enough. I liked that it was in old town. The abandoned buildings give the area the perfect vibe. The set is inexpensive, but done well. I thought the actors were great and fairly scary. We bought tickets online for 9pm, arrived early, then waited in line for about 30-40mins. Plan that into your evening. The only part I really disliked was in the house. You come to a judge. One of us had to be labeled "guilty". I was the lucky one, so they split me off from my group and sent the rest of the way (nearly half) with some random couple that was behind us in line. As nice as these random people were, it killed the experience for me. Instead of having fun being scared with friends, I was just kind of mad and completely unfrightened.
