Since most of friendlys in maine closed, this was first time in a long time I had opportunity to visit this memory filled ice cream heaven. We went in just for the ice cream and it hit every taste bud and made our tongues sing in delight. Our waitress was somewhat pleasant but spent more time talking to her friends or family that sat near us. We assume this by the way she spoke rudely to their child. Still with this. Its. Eek! Methinks not is right. This is my second atrocious review of a Friendly's location. We made the mistake of stopping here for lunch before my son's doctor's appointment last week. We told the waitress we needed to be in and out within an hour and 15 minutes (not unreasonable), and was told no problem. We waited 45 minutes until I asked if there was a problem - perhaps they forgot our order? Grill slip got lost? The waitress seemed irritated that I was even asking and said "should be out any minute". An hour later, we finally got our food and had to take it to-go. I would have left if I didn't already pay on the table console. The place is a hot mess - it's dirty, unorganized, under staffed, and the servers are rude. I would absolutely NOT return. read more

We went there for lunch, place was packed. There was a guy walking around, I guess he knew other people at another table. He was yelling Hail Hitler. Four waitresses, nothing said or done, at all. We left. Will never go back if the people that work there allow such bullshit. read more

We stopped by friendly's today to grab a quick lunch, first of all we were wrong to think it would be quick. Then the musty, moldy, mildew smell that hits you upon entering. The bathroom was cleaner and smelt better than the diningroom. The food was mediocre, the bun was greasy, but the burger it's self was great. The toast was too hard and I only got like 10 fries. And that wallet thing they put the check in had so many greasy finger prints on it we didn't even touch it. The waitress takes the credit card heads into the kitchen and begins eating after that she comes back to the diningroom and begins taking orders. Then she head to our table and realized she never checked us out and didn't have the card. So back to the kitchen and returns with card in hand. read more

Tried to call for 25 minutes with nothing but a busy signal. So id drove there to place my order. When i got there i said that their phone line wasnt working. All i got for a responce was "ooh". Then i placed my order and had to wait another 20 minutes for my food. Got all the way home and the girl that took my order that was off the clock and wanted jothing but to go home didnt put the order in right because my order was wrong. It is no suprise that Friendly's is going to hell in a hand basket. At this rate its only a matter of time before the pittsfield one shuts down. Not pleased at all! read more

Breakfast is good, but the dinner staff are horrible. Don't send anything back to the kitchen or they will tamper with it. I've gotten sick every time I had to have them remake something. The last time we went my family member got the wrong order and had to have them remake his food. When the new food came out, some of the fries had bite marks in them. Disgusting! read more

I have ordered a Jim Dandy 7-8 time over the last year, It has been made right 1 time. Last week no Bananas to make Jim Dandy, sorry is this not one of your main ingredients for many of your sundaes. This Friendly's has always been my favourite place to go. Over the years it's greatly improved. The new decor they have is beautiful, modern and just adds a great vibe. The food is excellent and the drinks are great. They even have a new little addition to tables, it's a touchscreen device that is actually very helpful. It lets you play little games, you can swipe your credit card on it so you don't have to wait for your waiter to come back over to your table, and you know how if you wanted dessert you'd have to ask for another menu? Well on the screen it has the menu items on it and when you're ready to order, it has a button so that you can call the server over. All in all, a great atmosphere for all ages. I will continue to go there until otherwise! read more

This place is pretty good. The food is here somewhat fresh for the type of place it is. Service is sometimes slow but the staff is generally "friendly". Prices are reasonable and the ice cream cant be beat. read more

The only reason this is two not one is because my family played monopoly on the tablet. Even though the screen was greasy food from the people that came before us. The salad I got didn't fit on my plate and it was 90% green peppers and chicken. The new booths are unstable and I could feel the person behind me's every movement. It's almost like friendly's thought they won the lottery and spent too much money before they checked in their ticket so they had to downgrade. At 4:45 today. Ladies room needs cleaning. We were seated but no one came to take our order. I had to go ask someone if we were supposed to order by way of the machine on the table. Finally someone came to us. Not that busy. No waiting lines. The waitresses seem lack luster like they were barely tolerating their jobs. Meals were lukewarm. Few healthy choices. I used to love this restaurant, I worked there in college. Now it's awful. The waitress I has recently was vile, it took 10-15 minutes for her to come to our table. It was 4:30 pm and very few customers in the restaurant. She was indifferent and poor. 3 other tables arrived after us and ate and left before we got our bill. Then I gave her $$$ to pay the bill and another 15 minutes to get our change. Two people in our party, myself and a child, simple order. I won't go there again. Disappointing. read more

Ok, when I think of Friendly's I'm reminded of a quote from a children's author which I'm paraphrasing to fit the experience: when it's good, it's really really good, but when it's bad, it's horrid. Such is the crapshoot when you walk into this long-running family restaurant chain which has certainly seen its better days. The decor was recently souped up to make you remember that bygone era of the 50's-60's-70's when Friendly's was at the top of its game. I actually met Prestley Blake back in the 80's, one of the founders. Not sure if he's still alive but I do not doubt he would not be happy with the current state of affairs. Prepare for a wait at the door when you walk in. This particular afternoon saw only 3 waitresses on duty and they were stretched to the limits waiting on everyone. The cook was walking around in the kitchen gabbing to everyone and I would've thought after I looked at him a few times that he might get someone to seat me, but no dice. It took about 5 minutes to get a table and 10 more to be acknowledged by the server. I'm going to cut her a break because it looked like she was still in training. After 15 minutes my burger arrived, and the food was delicious. So good things do come to those who wait patiently. Overall the place was a bit greasy. Again, this would not have been acceptable in the old days, but we can only hope things will move in a positive direction. It's still a good place to bring the kids, the ice cream is a New England staple, the amount of food you get on your plate is still somewhat reasonable considering the price, and if the fates are on your side you'll be happy when you have finished your meal. read more
