We went to Friendly's on a Friday night where we knew it would be a little bit busy, but we've gone to Friendly's on Friday nights many times and have never experienced what we did. We waited at the hostess podium for over 10 minutes with no one acknowledging us. Servers walking past without a word, but knew we were there because they kept looking at us. The line of people waiting for a table started going out the door because they had us just standing there waiting with no acknowledgment. By the time we got a table, the server came over and took our order but did not write it down. When we got our food it was cold. It clearly had been sitting there for a while before they brought it to us. The price for the food is insane and the quality isn't even the same anymore. Take your money elsewhere, this definitely is not the same Friendly's as when we were kids and it shows. read more

The food was amazing and might be classified as the quintessential comfort food genre. Service was soooooo poor. We ordered from the app tonight for pickup!! The order was not all correctly put together. We ordered the new Siracha burger and a regular bacon double cheeseburger and they gave us two double bacon cheeseburgers. The chicken bbq melts and steak and cheese melts were both done correctly. Our biggest complaint was the fries, they were not very crispy and the containers were not very full at all. A member of our group had to go back in to let them know they messed up the siracha burger and have it redone. Right as they were closing.... The food burgers and melts were very good quality but they time wasted on having to redo the siracha burger wasn't exactly a joyous time. It's an OK place to go, not top-of-the-line but not the bottom either. This location has been open for a while and I've been there a few times and as an overall rating I'd give it "average". I can't even remember what I had this time but it wasn't bad so that is good I guess. Friendly'a started closing for a reason. This place could use some serious cleaning. Menus are disgusting and should have been cleaned at least once in the last 2 years. Okay, here we go. I loved Friendly's as a kid. When we moved away to Florida I missed the Fribbles, Fishmajig and sherbet coolers. The chain closed in FL so I thought my Fribble days were over. So we're back in New England and this place is crawling with Friendly's. We had to go back. I've seen all the negative reviews but I have to say my experience here was just fine. The restaurant we were in was clean, the wait staff was very friendly, and the Fribble was every bit as good as I remember. We went back the next morning for breakfast and again while the food is pretty much diner quality, it was inexpensive and filling. In Florida we mostly have a Denny's, and this is very similar. Can't beat the $4.99 breakfast special on weekdays. Is this place fine dining... No. This the neighborhood ice cream parlor that I remember from my youth. Hopefully they can continue to make improvements and bring the chain back. I still love coming here. Fribbles forever. read more

A bit careworn from the curb, like most stalwarts of the franchise, and a bit lonely, enisled as it is in the end of a parking lot and two busy cross streets on the east end of town, this Friendly's is a bit perkier on the inside. It suffers as all Friendly's do these days from a somewhat desultory and unpredictable kitchen; on our recent visit the kids' selections came out tasting a bit of bland cardboard and obviously reheated, while the adults' sandwiches were decently-prepared. We did have very nice service, although we were crammed into a little booth instead of the many open bigger ones, apparently to keep one section of the restaurant clear for the busloads of tourists that will never come on a sleepy Sunday evening. It will take a lot more than newly-printed menus to lift Friendly from the abyss of mediocrity into which it has tumbled over the years, and this particular restaurant is in particular need of a facelift. But it's just good enough to lure those nostalgic parents such as ourselves in given a dearth of other options, and the kids stay for the balloons (still sans helium). You could do worse, although if Denny's gets balloons, watch out. read more

We come to this Friendly's a lot. Like, a LOT. My child doesn't eat many things, and Friendly's kids' meals happen to be on the 'yes' list. We've come especially often throughout the past couple years. It was a go-to place for us early on in the pandemic. It was important for us to support a local business and our neighbors in the food service industry. The job is hard enough during 'normal' times! The servers at this Friendly's have been truly wonderful to our little family. I'm scared to list them by name for fear that I'll forget someone, but Stacey, Michelle, Crystal, Julia and Dana have consistently been friendly, patient, accommodating, and efficient. My mom, niece and I went here for lunch today. The server and food was great! Everyone was very friendly. My niece had her eye on the claw machine in the corner and we tried a half a dozen times to win her a stuffed octopus. Unfortunately, it was to no avail. We left, full and happy and will definitely return. As we were leaving, (in the pouring rain), a young brown haired girl who worked there ran out with an octopus she had just won and wanted to give it to my niece. It absolutely made her day!! Just had the strangest experience trying to order a couple of dishes with scoops of ice cream. No toppings, nothing fancy. We are from out of town, and my wife remembered loving Friendly's decades ago. She wanted to see how her memory met up with today's Friendly's. We walked in, ordered and waited... and waited... and waited. All the while all these online customers were picking up their orders. After 20! Minutes we gave up and demanded our money back. I mean, the person who took our order saw us standing there waiting, but it's pretty clear that once she takes your order her mind shuts down figuring that someone else actually scoops the ice cream. Did she immediately wipe our faces from her memory while we stood there? C'mon folks! Show some respect for your customers and yourselves. This is no way to run a business. Having grown up with Friendly's, this place is a childhood staple for me. The staff may change, and so does the décor, but this food is comfort for me! I've spent countless friend reunions here, post theatre dinners, childhood breakfasts, and so many more times! They are normally understaffed, but the ladies are always super friendly! The ice cream is amazing! I was a bit bummed they got rid of my favorite Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream, but all of the flavors are still delicious. I normally get the Honey BBQ Chicken Supermelt and its just so good! It's obviously terrible for you, but when you only eat here one or twice a year its worth it. I also love their loaded waffle fries! The cheese here is even good, like no other fast food restaurant has cheese and fries this good!
