Our food was fantastic and our server was very friendly, but it took almost two hours from the time we sat down until the time we left, which made it very difficult for our four year-old. However, the main reason I'm giving Friendly's 3 stars is how deplorable the bathrooms look. The floors were super sticky and one of the toilets didn't flush/looked very worn out. They pride themselves in a clean bathroom, but when was the last time the floors were mopped? Gas stations have nicer bathrooms than this place. Lastly, the place looks very outdated. It could use some sprucing up. My husband said he was surprised it was still in business. Sad because the food is actually good and the ice cream is great, but everything else...meh read more

Not amazing service. The waitress that served me and my family was lazy and mixed my order up. I asked for coffee and she gave me 3 CREAM CUPS. Who uses 3 cups of cream? This is a typical Friendlys restaurant. It's not outstanding but it isn't awful either. They normally offer coupons and have good deals to make it affordable; also if you go to the local school you get a discount off your meal! We went there for breakfast, the ad outside said 50% off all breakfasts. The menu said that seniors got coffee free. We got our check and found we were charged $4.98 for 2 coffees with 1 free refill each. When I asked the waitress about the coffee, she said the free coffee didn't apply to breakfast it was 1/2 off at breakfast. I would not have spent that much on coffee. I go to high end restaurants that don't charge that much for coffee!!! read more

Absolutely disgusting!!! We have been there before and it was great, not this time!! Our server was so terrible, his uniform was dirty and his attitude was as if we were bothering him! Service is extremely slow. More than 5 minutes before someone came to take our drink order, another 8 minutes to bring the drinks and take our food order..... service stinks and food just OK. Even if you go get ice cream up front they take forever. read more

I took my family there yesterday for breakfast. We were totally disappointed. The service was horrible; the waiter took our order served the food and we never saw him again. The food came to the table cold and slapped on the plate. Everything was tasteless. I waited almost 15 minutes to pay me bill at the register and when I did the cashier didn't say a word to me. I ate here about a week ago for the first time in probably a year, What a pleasant surprise. I had heard that they remolded and done a complete make over, and they sure did, they have a lot of new things on the menu the place is a lot brighter and clean, very nice and pleasant staff and the food came out hot and on time. it was a very enjoyable evening. Mediocre at best. Took my teenage kids for dinner and we were all disappointed. I ordered the Reuben, it was soggy. My daughter's shrimp were heavily breaded. After my son got his burger, he realized that they never asked how he wanted cooked and he was not happy that it was well done. My daughter liked her float, the only reason she asked for a 2 star. My son's cookie'n'cream shake was watery and weird tasting. None of us finish our food or dessert. Very disappointed, probably won't be back. read more

Air conditioning wasn't running because it was cloudy outside. Tea came with an extra dose of protein (I.e. a bug) and although we were given the breakfast and lunch menus, when we tried to order an egg, we were told that it would take at least 30 minutws to make it because a neighboring table with 20 people had just submitted a lunch order that required the grill to be turned too high to make an egg. We went to friendlys for dinner tonite. From the time we got there it was not a good time. We waited at least 20 minutes before anybody even acknowledged us. When somebody finally took our order we waited another 25-30 minutes. If that wasn't bad enough when the food finally arrived my son lifted the top of the roil on his burger and found a disgusting hair in it. Nobody was able to eat their meal because we were so grossed out. The manager took off three of the four meals but that doesn't change the fact that it was a ruined evening out with my family. I see a lot of "what do you expect" in relationship to reviews here. What I expect is management that understands the food service industry. I expect ownership that cares enough to monitor their own business practices. I expect common sense health and safety codes to be followed. I expect that you FIRE help that treats customers like crap. I expect that if I'm paying $50-$70.00 for a small family's meal, I get something a bit better than McDonald's across the street. Friendly's is exactly what I've come to expect from every food service business in the Newton and surrounding areas. I guess other's just enjoy being treated like garbage, disrespected, and 3rd class food. Plastic eggs, under cooked bacon, and total lack of service. Seems every time they had a descent waitress, she was fired or quit. We just gave up. When looking for a place to take the kids, this place is off the menu! read more

Very friendly wait staff. However, my order for a side dish was specifically for "cole slaw, no French fries" but the order was delivered with "French fries, no cole slaw," though it was corrected promptly and pleasantly. Although most of the food is just ok at best, my kids like the prettily-colored flavorful sweet drinks, and the ice cream desserts are appealing and delicious. Seating is at tables and chairs or in comfortable, roomy booths. Menus were so sticky I needed the waitress to bring me a wipe to clean my hands before I could order. "Just as you came in we were collecting the menus to wash them all!" the waitress cheerfully proclaimed as she brought me a cleaner menu. Great place to bring young kids! read more

The service here was absolutely terrible, we waited over 30 minutes just for the appetizers. When the appetizers finally came they were cold. When the meal came, they were also cold. The Mac-n-Cheese was cold and the noodles started to clump up because the cheese was cold, The cheeseburger sliders were burnt to the point you didn't taste the burger just burnt bread, the meat was cold and the cheese was also burned to the point it blended in with the bread. The Chicken quesada was so bland that it tasted like cardboard. The bread was cold and burnt to the point that is snapped apart, you couldn't taste the chicken and there was barely any cheese. The most enjoyable part of the visit to Friendly's was leaving. If I could give this place lower than one star, I would. I would not recommended going to this Friendly's. It's worth the extra driving time to go to the Friendly's in Sussex. read more

Went for breakfast this morning while out running errands. 11:00am, my husband and me. Seats in the booths were ripped from end to end. Waitress was friendly but we were only given 1 menu. Asked for 2 coffee w.milk. Container of milk was only enough for a half cup of coffee. Had to ask again for more. Asked for more time to choose what we wanted. She came back every 30 seconds asking " did you make up your mind yet? At that point I was furiois and lost my appatite.Hubby got the Big 2 do. It was a big to NOTHING. 2 little pieces of bacon, dryed scrambled eggs that you couldn't even pick up with the fork and french toast loaded with so much butter on top,you could have had a heart attack.
