let me start by saying I love Friendlies, have since I was a kid, just not this friendlies.. food was typical friendlies... in other words, OK... service was abysmal.. its been a long time since I left a $2 tip... we waited 15 minutes before anyone came over.. then another 10 to get our drinks, two sodas...my son's Fribble came after the meals... waitress never came back except at the end...only comfort was that every one else near us seemed to have the same issue.. 14 tables, 5 servers and it seemed as two were doing their job.. unfortunately not our server... the poor manager tried his best... oh by the way, we could hear the cook in the back screaming at staff. I am so sad to do a poor review on a restaurant that I've been going to since I was 10 years old. My son and I went on Saturday night and the dining room had about at least no more than 10 tables and the service was very slow and everyone that came into the restaurant waited to long to be seated. I would never write a review about a franchise restaurant but I was quite impressed with a server that I had this morning. I live in W. Mass and was just visiting for a couple hours and needed to kill sometime. Allen was our waiter, He was really polite and took the time to tell me some spots in Greenfield that I could check out. He even drew a map for me which was extremely thoughtful. He is a very sweet guy and Friendly's should be thrilled to have him as apart of his team. While we waited for our food, shivering with the AC blasting in the middle of the summer we asked our waitress if we could at least get the AC turned down (4 out of 6 tables I could see had someone rubbing their arms to fend off the cold). Her answer shocked me. The corporate office (far far away) put a lock on the thermostat and have assured everyone that the temperature is just right! Have you ever heard of anything more insane? Someone needs a good firing high up on the Friendly's chain about the AC, and someone needs a swift kick in the butt in Greenfield if they can't handle a diner rush without a 40 minute delay. read more

So disappointing. My husband and I were really hungry and wanted a sit down lunch. This place was convenient and I knew that I used to like their burgers. We were not looking for ice cream. I was ignored until I asked if I should seat myself. A woman said NO, we'll seat you in a minute and continued to talk with a fellow employee about frustration with COVID and masks. She warmed up a little taking us to a table. The sweet waitress asked for our order and proceeded to tell us that they were out of tuna and turkey and gravy and tartar sauce. That eliminated anything we wanted on the senior menu. After going to the kitchen she came back and told us that she didn't have the cheese we ordered on our burger. It was ridiculous. Broken AC, got our appetizers with our meals, party of six and only 5 meals made and 6th finally arrived when everyone was done eating, waiter was slow and mia for most of the meal, other waiters and waitress had to jump in. Stopped by this Friendly's on the way home from Mt. Snow and we got exactly what we wanted, an inexpensive breakfast served in under 45 mins. I ordered a combo dish with pancakes (pretty sure they were nuked), scrambled eggs and sausage. Typical for a Sunday, the Friendly's crowd consisted of young families and senior citizens. If I was reviewing this location for lunch or dinner, I'm sure it would've gotten 3+ stars. read more

I have been visiting this Friendly's since I was a baby. Every year on my family trips to and from Vermont, we would stop here. Year after year, I watched as things decline. First the menu, then the service, I've always wondered what caused the problems. I still can't figure it out. Last week we were helped by a really nice waitress who's name is that of a car manufacturer, she was friendly and helpful. No complaints about service this time. However, the food on this recent visit was awful. Portions were off, the food was unbelievably greasy and cold. I was really let down. Service was absolutely horrible. Not one host or server approached us during us waiting for 30 minutes. After waiting a full half hour with no staff attending us the manager sent his server who rudely told us they're backed up with takeout orders and aren't willing to seat us. Meanwhile more than Half the restaurant was open, and that's not counting the covid tables that are closed off. At least have good communication and tell your customers what's going on, we're reasonable and understand how the restaurant business works. read more

Most of the Friendly's are gone and certainly not missed. They have gone down hill. We were coming back from a long motorcycle ride and the choice was either McDonald's or Friendly's. The Greenfield Friendly's was very good. Both the food, ice cream, and service. The bathroom needed a good cleaning but that was about it. read more

After a long weekend in Vermont at a soccer tournament we were tired and my son was exhausted. Aaron made him feel so special with trying to make him a Dr Pepper from scratch and adding a bit extra to his kids sundae. The food is good and the inside was clean and well maintained. About what you would expect from friendlys... Ok, sinful food, good value, great ice cream. I will say that the bathrooms, though they look new, smell and look like they have never had a proper cleaning. Scum and stains building up on the sinks and toilets. This is my only complaint. read more

The pepper jack burger here was fantastic, no over the top juices overflowing from the burger. The seating was fine, the mood was great and the food was lovey. Not a five star since it is part of a chain but it's something to bring the family into for Dinner or Lunch. read more

It actually absolutely breaks my heart to bash Friendly's - this is where I go when I want to remember my dad - so of course I was devastated when they closed all but one in the great state of Massachusetts. So today, we drove those 2 hours, just to get to this, the last remaining Friendly's. Unfortunately, I really can't say that I blame the company for shutting its doors - this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. First, we stood waiting to be seated, while all the waitresses and busboys passed us by, looking at us, yet not acknowledging us, for a full 5 minutes in a not-busy restaurant. We were finally seated, then sat at our table without being acknowledged or getting waters or drink orders put in, while I watched the waitresses on their cell phones in the back. Our orders were taken rather rudely, and came to the table mixed up and missing items. The waitress acknowledged the missing rice, and certainly heard us ask for more cocktail sauce - the sauce never came, and the rice came out a full 15 minutes later after we had just been sitting there done with our food. The waitress looked taken aback when we said no to the rice. There was never a check in to make sure our food was okay or to refill drinks. She looked annoyed when we said we wanted to order ice cream in to go cups. I ordered the same sundae I always got with my dad - a Reece's Peanut Butter Cup Sundae with cookies and cream ice cream and a lot of extra peanut butter. Yet another 10 minutes later when the ice cream came out - that too, was wrong. I got a sundae that had vanilla ice cream, no peanut butter - but it did have a peanut butter cup on it. I literally had to walk up to the back area twice to get the waitress's attention, and she looked annoyed when I told her the order was wrong. While she did tell me she'd remake it for me, she didn't even apologize. As for the bill, we finally had to walk up to the back to get her to take the damn credit card after walking by us a number of times. I will miss you Friendly's, but, after this experience, I will never have you again. Just shut this place down and go in grace. read more

Horrible costomer service!! when we pulled in there was alot of trash in the parking there was a older couple maybe in there 60's-70's picking up the trash. Theres not to many people like that these days. I held the door for them as they both had hands full of wet trash. No one was there to greet us and they were looking for a trash. No one was to be seen he went around back and threw it away. Then we seen the employees and all of them were giving us a dirty look. And gave the older gentleman a dirty look for throwing the trash back there i had to speak up and say they just picked up all the trash. And the lady rudely said you could of left it there, We dont want you back here you could fall. I felt bad for the guy and wife after they did all that to help and to not even get a thank you was horribble. My husband was treating me to a sundae and we decided to take a ride to this Friendly's. We walked in behind another couple and there was already a group of three ahead of them. Several employees walked past us like we were invisible, including a man who looked to be the manager. The couple ahead of us decided to leave as no hostess was working apparently. Finally, the man came over at seat us. There were numerous empty seats but obviously, no one to wait on them! We ordered our ice cream and by the time we walked in and the time we got our sundaes, it was 40 minutes! My husband made a comment to our waitress about how hard it is when they are short-handed. She replied, yes, and that her friend has just gotten suspended! Another odd thing is that she asked us to leave the money on the table when we left. Not sure what that was all about. This is one of the Friendly's owned by the corporation, so we can understand why they are closing so many of their stores. If I could give this location less than 1 star I would..I placed a takeout order this past Sunday December 8th and when I got there to pick it up the were so disorganized and all the customers waiting were not happy with the treatment and the wait times. However when it was my turn to tell the girl what I was there for another waitress was in the background bitching and complaining out loud about the customers in the dining area. Than she proceeded with an attitude to use her bare hands with no gloves to make the customers salad and was just tossing everything in a bowl. I than asked the girl working the take out counter for a manger and she stated that there was no one on that day. She was missing half her teeth and the ones she had were all Rottten (sure sign of a crack head) than when I told her I was calling corporate the other girl who I had the complaints about proceeded to approach me and tell me that it's none of my business what she was doing. I told her it was as a paying customer. Than she went outside for a cigarette break and Han when she returned she than apologized for her behavior. To end it here I ended up calling corporate but nothing was done at least I didn't get any calls back..this is why all the friendlys have been closing and will continue to close. Awful. Worst service and food I have had in a long time No creamer for my coffee and coffee tasted old. The prices are cheaper but that's because so are their portions. Friendly's used to be our go-to restaurant when our children were young -- fast, fun and filling meal. Those days are over. I stopped in last night to get a shake and fries. After waiting 10 minutes in the drive thru line to place an order, I went inside and waited an additional 30 minutes for the shake (more on the fries in a moment). I watched as staff struggled to assemble other orders. Sundaes were prepared bare-handed to break up peanut butter cups and apply sprinkles on both the ice cream and the prep counter. When I got to the register to place my order, I was sidelined by a Dashdoor courier who rushed in and was served ahead of me and another customer. On our way headed north to Maine, we got off at the rotary and stopped at this Friendly's restaurant. I should have known from the lack of upkeep on the exterior that the interior was going to be even worse. We were seated promptly, unlike what I've read from others posting. However, after she took our order, we waited for over 40 minutes for the food to be delivered. BEAR IN MIND that we were at the second table directly in front of the area where the dishes of food are placed on top of a metal shelf. We saw our food being placed there and that is where it sat, and sat, and sat. It sat for over 20 minutes. Our waitress had only two other tables, so she was not "busy." When the plates finally arrived, my husband's order was incorrect and the food on BOTH plates was cold. Surprise! He looked at me, I looked at him, and we walked out. I'm literally this biggest Friendly's fan but this one was terrible. We had two orders of Mac and cheese and when they were served to us they were both still completely frozen. So gross. I had to get up and find someone to tell our waitress myself since I couldn't find her. That should of been taken off the bill for the inconvenience and because that's just disgusting. But they were still on the bill. I had to ask the waitress to take it off and she said "I'll have to see what I can to." She was obviously annoyed that I asked. Then when we paid I gave her a gift card and a $20 bill to cover what the gift card didn't. She asked me do you want me to use the card and then the cash I said yes. She comes back with no cash and my gift card not used. She did the complete opposite of what I asked and what she even said she would do. Like come on, this is ridiculous. I also don't think the manager should be piggin out on a bowl of ice cream in view of the customers, especially if she's not gonna come over and apologize for anything that happened. Made the mistake once again by going to the local friendlys. I don't know why I ever think anything would change. Not only was the person taking the orders for ice cream extremely rude but also did not know what she was doing. 25 + mins to make 5 sundaes and $30.00 later I finally get to go home with my ice crem only to find that a Jim Dandy sundae that costs what 6 -7 bucks consists if strawberry , vanilla and chocolate ice crem with whip cream and sprinkles? No hot fudge, bananas , Cherries or nuts? Nope ! Can't wait for this one to go out if business as well. Me and my friends were driving along and stumbled across a Friendly's drive threw and out of utter amazement we turned around and quickly pulled into the parking lot all just to be let down by the worst "employees" and customer service we have ever witnessed. As far as the food goes, this is a pretty standard Friendly's (diner known for burgers and ice cream, you know the deal) but what sets this one apart is the people, especially the manager Ryan. Our waitress (super sweet girl, I can't remember her name) was having a bad night, and instead of chastising her Ryan really lifted her up and supported her. Great staff, great teamwork. I went here with my mom and grandma that was visiting from Virginia because we had always gone here when I was younger. We ordered our drinks and food all at the same time.
