    Fried Plantain

This Chinese spot it's all that you want in Long Island city. This restaurant is very well situated it was 5 minutes away from my hotel. During that winter storm (KENAN), only few restaurant were open in my area. I had ordered chicken wings they were tasty and very crispy with green fried plantain, a small won ton soup but look like a medium. They gave a pretty good portion shareable for 2. This restaurant know how to keep their customers by providing a good customer service.

Ordered through Seamless, came quickly. Vegetable lo mein, white rice, shrimp and broccolini, vegetable egg rolls, and egg drop soup. Shrimp was a bit tiny and too much sauce. All very delicious, though. Came with a lot of sauces, duck, hot, and ketchup. We shared everything for lunch. I'm satisfied.

A roach in my Plain Fried Rice

As I was eating my my food I was just looking at my phone but then I realized there was something in the food and all i thought was that it better not be a roach.but you know what it was indeed a roach, and so just wanted to share this for more people to more people with access to the Chinese restaurant to either be careful or just not order from here at all. This is the only roach I noticed in my food and I just keep thinking how there could have been more I didn't notice(maybe broken into pieces) but yea

I had to try Chinese food in New York City and it didn't disappoint! Very friendly service too! They had the traditional favorites sling with exotic choices like duck but unfortunately they were all out of duck when I visited. This is a takeout only store so plan ahead. I stayed at a hotel nearby which was only steps away and just took the food back to my room to devour!

A-OK. No need for an in-depth essay here. These guys are doing it right here. This is what I'd call a better than average Chinese spots. Its cleaner than most in the area and is known around these parts. The owner even speaks engrish! I only order the General TSO's and its been great so far!

Dragon & Phoenix: Clever name but it was really just a lot of sweet and sour chicken with 3 florets of broccoli and 4 pieces of shrimp

tl;dr: It wasn't the worst Chinese takeout that I've ever had and it also wasn't the best; it was aggressively mediocre. Friendly Restaurant is a small family-owned shop with only two tables inside. Considering it's small size, what surprised me the most was that they had brown rice as an option. As someone who no longer eats white rice, this was very exciting to see. What was less exciting was the dish I had ordered: the Dragon & Phoenix. From the picture provided on the menu, it looked to be an even split of sweet and sour chicken with shrimp. What I actually got was a mountain of sweet and sour chicken and four shrimp nestled within a mountain of onions. It was disappointing to say the least.

Everytime I order something different they mess up and say "oh I didn't hear you" and make me travel all the way back to the store to change my order. Boneless wings are pretty good everything else I haven't liked

Cheap and Delicious! And the portion was super big I would say. Especially the amount of rice they gave me I actually think that two people can just share one

A mountain of sweet and sour pork, hot and sour soup, fried rice, egg rolls and a bucket of tea!

It was a dark and stormy night...and I was tired of hotel and chain food, an occupational downside of being a consultant from the opposite coast! I resolved that what I needed to break the 'cycle' was a mega dose of Chinese food. I checked Yelp and found that Friendly Restaurant was the only Chinese that I could easily walk to in the rain (2 blocks). Undaunted, I donned my rain gear and headed out. I was a little apprehensive as I walked in, but I was greeted warmly and after perusing the menu decided on a sweet and sour pork 'fix' with hot and sour soup to take off some of the chill of winter night. I took a seat to wait and watch the increasing rainstorm. When my order came up (quickly) I was overwhelmed to see the quantity of food on my tray...a mountain of sweet and sour, a bucket of hot and sour and a quart of tea to wash it all down. Even more than my surprise at the size of my meal was my delight in how tasty and satisfying it was!! Everything was well prepared and delicious! Even being as hungry as I was it was a challenge to eat most of my meal. When asked if I would like to take the leftovers I responded that I would be back...and over the course of my last week in LIC I stuffed my self three more times!!

The bitch who answered the phone told me a 10min drive from her establishment was to far to deliver nice & nasty & hung up on me before I could tell her I'd drive myself to pick it up , so the customer service really sucks, but the food was very good, I had to go pick it up myself....the wings are dope many different flavor varieties were off the chain! Honey BBQ bone in with Veggie fried rice, Honey BBQ boneless with pork fried rice. Bone in was much better than the bone out.

The tofu isn't fresh, the heavy seasoning can't even cover the stale sour taste tofu. Very disappointed.

The restaurant is a few blocks from the main street of Steinway so it'll take a bit of searching. Going inside, the area is rather abstract. Pink flower wallpaper on one end and dry wall on the other, it's kinda off-putting but I didn't come here for the atmosphere anyway. Service was lukewarm, I got my order in but the two workers inside weren't too receptive and the menu itself is kinda barebones with most of their food being a bit more than I would like to pay for so I just settled on one order of Singapore Mei Fun. After waiting 10 minutes for my food to arrive, the Singapore noodles which are usually spicy were kinda salty but it was nothing a bit of duck sauce wouldn't fix. This one order cost $17 while not the worst Singapore Mei Fun...well technically it is, even though it's not horrible but I've had much better from other places for a stable price of $12. Yeah, a rather disappointing visit. Not the worst I've ever had but could be so much better.

I got the wonton soup and pork juicy buns. The soup was different from other wonton soups with the addition of cilantro and some nice balancing flavors for the salt, and the juicy buns were your classic soup dumplings with a very nice rich sauce to dip in. The dandan noodles my friend ordered were maybe my favorite, they were the perfect level of spicy and so flavorful without being overwhelming. I'd go back just for my own plate of those. The service was quite fast, and it's a cute little shop that feels like a small town Chinese restaurant. Very reasonably priced as well. Some of my favorite Chinese food I've found outside of Lower Manhattan !

Once she got to her destination, she opened the food container so that she can begin eating. As soon as she looked down, she noticed that there appeared to be something on her shrimp and was compelled to walk back to the restaurant and ask for either a refund or newly prepared food. The host/clerk (person behind the counter) told her it was grease and refused to either refund her or prepare a new meal. So my daughter sent me a picture of the food and I told her it looks like the shrimp has herpes! Never the less, she didn't eat it nor did she cause a fuss and Just walked out. The consequence of poor customer service usually results in a closed business. It's a shame how these restaurants come to our neighborhood/country and refuse to provide valuable customer service. As a local NYer who grew up with this type of comfort food, it's important to understand the distinctions. If you're expecting restaurant style food, do your research next time. When you're looking for a quick fix of stir fried foods, rice dishes drenched in glazed sauces, and crispy appetizers, this place did the trick. On my rainy day visiting my companions and bringing back takeout, this place provided us the food we needed. Most Chinese food takeout places would slather on so much salt, high sodium seasonings, watered down sauces, and very stale old cold rice. This place did none of this and they did a great job with their mixtures and flavors on my dishes. My only troubling thing was deciding what to get as everything looked good to order. Food bought on my side was the beef and broccoli - easy to tear through the beef bits, glazed and marinated nicely, and the broccoli was cooked well. My crab rangoons (what this place is known for) was extremely crispy and still hot when I arrived to my friend's place with melty cheese goodness in the center. Last is the shrimp eggroll - crispy and a bit bigger in portion than I usually get at other locations. No complaints on any items ordered and they all tasted fantastic. Staff is very nice and professional too. They also make sure to not miss out on giving any utensils or sauces to go with your orders. A better option for takeout Chinese food compared to the other neighboring places in this area as noted by my friend and Astoria local.
