I'd say I had the best fried catfish for DFW standard! The catfish batter wasn't thick and it STUCK ON. I had many problems with fried catfish because the batter just slips out! The catfish wasn't dried out and also had the catfish flavor still. I am comparing my standard with coast catfish restaurants (ex: Seattle, WA). This is a nice family owned restaurant that puts quality in their food. I also have experience with catfish batter being soggy (not contained) and this batter kept up its strong integrity. My brother also ordered the shrimp poboy. The bread of choice was great, shrimp was fat compared to other places, and batter stuck on! They did not cheap out. I just had another delicious meal at Frieddaze. I had the catfish "po-boy" sandwich. The catfish was perfectly fried, light and moist inside, with a crispy wonderful exterior. The bun was a traditional hogey but was fresh and was up to the job. At no point did it split down the middle like some do. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. The sandwiches come with fries. They were regular fries but they were hot and fresh. I prefer this over fries that have been battered and become heavier than the meal they go with so two thumbs up on the fries. Other stuff - the folks running the counter are nice, friendly, and helpful. The entire place, including the restroom, was spotlessly clean. This was one of those experiences where you have this amazing looking menu and the sweetest of people to take your order and things just start to go awry. I have to wonder who puts a fried food and sandwich menu together and doesn't have pickles. My husband wanted the Catfish Po'Boy ($8) and we had Cajun Fries, Onion Rings ($4) and Fried Okra ($5) all around. The battered fried catfish was really very good. So were all of the fried sides. Later, my husband indicated the Shrimp Orleans was good, too. As you can see, it's a very modestly priced menu. I believe the catfish and sides come frozen; but they're good. The shrimp is probably frozen and thawed. I would say that's compatible with the prices. It also explains why I was told the blackening seasoning was already on the fish. That's okay. But somebody needs to pick up the ball on sandwich toppings and condiments. At least for eating in the restaurant. This is all at the counter ordering as well and frankly, we were time consuming. They weren't busy at the time; but honestly, it was ridiculous. The other thing is the way they sling around sacked food. I was shocked. Our to go entree was all over inside the box. Super disappointing experience. Ordered the catfish and shrimp basket, fried okra and boba tea. The "catfish" was horrible, and wrapped in about .5 inches of batter. Very low quality. We started the adventure searching on Yelp for "International Food Arlington ". We located a group of restaurants off of Cooper St. We selected Frieddaze for the fish and Cajun offerings. We entered the restaurant and were a little anxious that the size was very small with limited seating. But there was line of about 10 people waiting to place their orders and another 6 seated waiting for their order or finishing their meal. The person taking our order was the most organized and well paced individual I have seen in a long time. The name on the receipt was Cham Bui. Even with the persons waiting, she kept things moving with what appeared as no effort on her behalf. We stared by reviewing the menu on the chalk board behind the cashier. I ordered the catfish Po Boy basket and a bowl of seafood gumbo and a Chocolate Cream Slushes. My sponsor ordered Fried Crawfish basket a bowl of Red Beans and Rice and a Strawberry Milk Tea with Boba Pearls. While we waited at our table, there was a steady stream of people ordering Boba and Slushes to go. Our food came out steaming hot and cooked perfectly. They provided 3 sauces, catchup, ranch, and a Cajun sauce. The servings were sizable and we took enough home for another meal. We did not see any other people working except the girl that helped serve and cleanup the table. It seems to be classified as a fast food, but it was comfortable enough as a sit down environment. This is a cafe style place meaning you order at the counter, their prices for everything was super cheap. We got two full meals for barely $20 including boba as drinks. We ordered the pork and shrimp Po' boy which come with fries. We also got a strawberry kiwi slush and a taro almond tea. The food came out super quick less than 10 minutes along with our drinks. As mentioned earlier this place is cafe style meaning there isn't a dedicated wait staff. But this did not stop the staff from coming out several times to visit our table to see how everything was.
