General Tso chicken is like sweet n sour chicken with orange sauce and some red pepper flakes. The chicken got no crispiness to it. That's my husband's order. I ordered hibachi combo of chicken and steak. Both orders came with fried rice which is basically plain steam rice in brown color (that is no fragance, no taste totally bland). The hibachi steak was cooked to medium rare-while it is tender, it is totally bland. Maybe the cook of this Fri New Year's Eve was concerned about consumers' health and decided to reduce seasoning, sauce, salt, and pepper to a bare minimum? Conclusion: waste of my $23 for my hibachi, waste of $16 for that sweet n sour looking General Tso chicken, waste of my time, and waste of my caloric budget. Go to Mulan, or for the love of God, some Chinese buffet. I don't know about my husband but I won't come back. Oh the menu is full of American version of sushi aka fried/stuffed with fake crab meat and small section of uncooked sushi-the one final page has other options which are: hibachi, fried rice, one stir fry noodle, one noodle soup (udon), and 3-4 chinese rice dishes (i.e. orange chicken, general Tso chicken, tempura etc. So, not a lot of options if you don't want cooked sushi. read more

This was good. It was only my 3rd time getting venturing to this Restaurant and my second time getting a "to go" order. To save time I used the website to order. I wish it was a bit more descriptive. New hibachi/ sushi/ oyster bar.... They have only been open about one week and typically I wouldn't try for at least the first month ... But I am glad I did. Friday Tuna has a cool contemporary vibe and decor which was nice to see. There is a combination of booths, table top, hibachi table, sushi bar, and regular spirits bar seating. They also have TV screens at the full bar which will make this a great happy hour haunt. (they will not have liquor licnse until mid-june 2013 but at this time will aloow you to byob with NO cork fee!) The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Most importantly the food ( I only had sushi) was really good, nice, and fresh. They have some creative rolls and an extensive list that is sure to appeal to anyone in the group. I will be back... Visited this week for lunch. My first thought as I walked through the door was that it looked like a lot of money went into the decor - pretty fancy for a strip mall bay. While waiting for my food I couldn't help but hope as much money was going into the quality of the food. Service was slower than what I am used to, but the staff (and owner) were attentive during the wait and the food turned out to be very good. I had the Sushi Combination Lunch for $10. The meal consisted of a California roll and several pieces of Nigiri, along with a salad and basic fried rice. The sushi is pretty good here, my last visit was fairly decent. The food was prepared fresh, but when I asked for dipping sauce for my hibachi meal, the waitress never came back. I assumed she forgot, butit even took her a little while just to see how everything was, when she saw the sauce on the table she said "oh someone brought it" drinks were never refilled and we had a variety of waitresses and waiters helping us because our waitress was not interested in our table. Let's not discuss tip, the others deserved everybody of her tip that day because she literally did nothing but take the order. We went here last night for my daughter's 7th birthday for hibachi. The best way I can describe our overall experience is: underwhelmed. I'll start with the good: the chef was great! He did such a good job keeping the kids entertained at the table. ((He's the only reason they deserve the one star)). Food: Overall it was way too salty. The rice wasn't cooked thoroughly (I had many crunchy/hard pieces). The portion sizes were annoying--60% of my plate was chicken. Maybe 10% was vegetables--which were mostly onion. The rest was rice. Shrimp "appetizer" tasted fishy--I couldn't even swallow it! Miso soup--mostly broth, zero tofu (server said they don't use tofu in anything at all ?). The salad came dressed with some very egg-y white sauce (kind of reminded me of miracle whip). The yum-yum sauce was yuck-yuck--tasted like miracle whip was used to make it also. Service: Horrible. When I asked the server about returning the salad for one with the traditional ginger dressing she looked at me like I had 4 heads and was super rude about there not being a ginger "dressing" just a "sauce." Which she of course informed me the ginger sauce was not for salad !! She also made sure to correct me that the "sauce" was not orange, it was brown. However, she eventually brought me a new salad with the ginger sauce on the side...which WAS orange ! It was just a hugely annoying, unnecessary, and disrespectful conversation. I heard another guest mention to her something about being the owners daughter ((not sure if that's accurate but if it is she shouldn't be working for him!)). Also, they don't do anything special for birthdays other than give them a dessert--fried ice cream with tempura banana. Which was good just disappointing that there was no song or celebration in any way for my daughter!! Our reservation was for 7:45pm on a Saturday night and the place was barely half full. This seemed odd to me but since I had heard good things about the place I didn't think about it too much. Now it makes sense. We won't be going back. read more

I am always looking for a good sushi spot. Friday Tuna was totally built out and yet completely closed for so long that I was starting to view it as the restaurant equivalent of "vaporware". However, a couple weeks ago my friend told me that it was finally open so I had to check it out. Walking in to Friday Tuna I was immediately impressed by the decor. It may not be up some people's alley but I thought the decor was brilliant. Contemporary, super crisp and clean, it immediately sets you up for a positive experience. The service was absolutely exceptional and the hibachi area was spacious. We opted to sit at a regular table (saving hibachi for next time) and I started out with an appetizer. It was this amazingly delicious stuffed jalapeno with seafood and... man. A great way to start the meal! As I mentioned before, the service was great without being annoying. I opted to go full sushi for dinner and not only were the rolls exceptional they were delivered much more quickly than I anticipated. I had three rolls and they were all masterfully done. The rolls are more pricey than Sakura but I would say they are of a similar quality (seeing as that's my favorite sushi joint, that is high praise from me). I have to mention the sweet tea, it was great! All in all, my only complaint is that the sushi rolls are a bit high priced. That being said, they were of a quality that made the price understandable. I have really, really mixed feelings about this place. The sushi was DELICIOUS, like truly amazing. The service was really good, they really cared and wanted you to enjoy your meal. On the other hand, it took us 45 minutes to an hour to ever even get our sushi. They kept telling us, "We are so sorry, our sushi bar is backed up..." Yet there was maybe 3 other tables of people? We ordered 5 rolls and got one at a time.. They lady kept saying "Y'all eat really fast..." Another bad thing is we ordered 5 rolls, averaging $10, and we were still starving after we finished. Let's start here: i love sushi. I do. I really do. I will happily spend $40 on sushi in one sitting. Here's the problem, the sushi was awful. The germantown roll had this awful texture to it. It was mushy. I thought I was going to be sick. The rock n roll just wasn't great. The only ones I kind of liked were the Lobster King and Chili roll. The chili roll just has a little wow factor. So here we were waiting on some friends. I kept trying to get the attention of our waitress (blue hair) and she was staring into space. I just wanted a drink after we had ordered water. Let's add here that my fiance's second drink apparently took 15 minutes to make. When she gave us our check, I was a little surprised the 18% gratuity had been added, since there was no reason for it to be. And she blamed her bad service on "that other table was full of b****es." Then she laughed. I don't know how she could think that was appropriate. This restaurant seemed nice and who looked like a manager looked so stressed out and he had reason to. Because this server was making a fool of the restaurant. And no I'm not saying she should change her hair or piercings. It was her ATTITUDE. The hibachi is good though. This is an amazing place to eat. They have sushi, HABBACHI, regular steakhouse foods...everything pretty much. Let me start off on the clear soup. It's my favorite soup ever and Friday Tuna does it right. The look is plain but the flavor is intense. There clear soup reminds me of the clear soup at Kabukis, my favorite restaurant of all time. Friday Tuna can nearly top the clear soup at that establishment and I've only had it twice. It's so amazing. Their other foods are great too. I love their HABBACHI meals. The steak and lobster one is my personal preference. They also make amazing fried rice. The sushi isn't my cup of tea, but it's okay. I'm not a huge fan on that. The service is always phenomenal. The people are nice and helpful. They are a clean establishment. They do a good job tidying up so the floor isn't sticky like Ryan's. (Don't get me wrong, Ryan's was great, but they could of done a better job cleaning, if they did at all.) This place has a friendly atmosphere and I really like it. My overall experience of this place was fantastic. I strongly recommend you go there any chance you get. You won't regret it. It's such an amazing place to have a great meal, be extremely entertained by their crazy HABBACHI show, and just chill and have an awesome time out, regardless if you're alone or with a group of friends or relatives. We ordered 2 sushi rolls, 2 orders of Teriyaki chicken dinner plates (each came with soup, salad and brown rice) and 2 glasses of tea for only $40. All of this was shared by 3 people and then we took home leftovers for 3 more meals. It's like this place was on the fence about being a hibachi or sushi joint so they decided "Hey, let's be below average at BOTH!" Arrived as the first couple of a 12 person party at 7:30 on a Friday evening. 60pct full. Promptly brought to our table. Quickly offered drinks. Cold sake (Nigori) here is significantly overpriced at 15 for a 300ml bottle but I didn't notice the price until after ordering. This would become a trend. Surprisingly solid beer offerings (Sam adams octoberfest) are more than fairly priced at 3ea. Went with that next and specifically requested a glass. Beer arrives slowly but no glass. 2nd request got it. Drink service overall was a fiasco with spotty touches and frequently forgotten orders. On to the food. We opened with a tuna tataki... A staple for us. SPR is the gold standard for this locally and FT's take was not good. I can appreciate creativity but the dry rub they tried on the seared tuna seemed to be held on with liquid smoke which completely overpowered the tuna and didnt meld well with the sweet tataki sauce. 2/10. My girlfriend mistakenly ordered a volcano roll in place of a rainbow roll. Thankfully as the latter was absurdly priced at 15... Generally an 8-10 dollar item. The volcano roll was decent but not spectacular. Fish was overwhelmed and the entire concoction had an unfortunate consistency. Overall the sushi menu was sorely lacking... sashimi options were almost non-existent, for example. 3.5/10 The Hibachi course was your run of the mill hibachi with the same food (soup/salad//rice/veggies/meats) you get at any other hibachi joint. Chefs perform the same routine/jokes (oh look, Japanese egg roll!). In this case our chef was Latino. Not a big deal but matters to some folks. Overall the food was cooked properly and tasted good. Not great not bad. The only thing truly of note was the opening salad typically features a ginger dressing. Here it tasted like ginger cut 50/50 with a watery mayonaise. Not good. Overall I'd give it 2.5 stars but ill bump to 3 for the decor (slightly above average for hibachi place). Food service was good. Drink service was very spotty. This is NOT a place I'd go for just sushi. Overpriced and not very good quality. I probably won't be back. Too many other. Superior options in the city. read more

I also like the lunch bento box with salmon, their shrimp fried rice, salad dressing and my entree of the night, teriyaki salmon. I also had the shrimp tempura roll its nothing like crunchy shrimp, which they don't carry, but it's a decent substitute. This is a nice find in the heart of Cordova.especially if you live near Trinity and don't want to fight the traffic going towards Wolfchase. The ambiance is nice. Everything is rolls....basically covering up mediocre fish with lots of mayonnaise and that fried crunchy crap you know its like the the tempura flakes that come off the the items that are getting fried. Secondarily give me a menu on a piece of paper and pencil I don't want to have to remember 7 things. It would be easier for me just to sign into the Micros terminal and just order it myself.
