We stopped here on December 27, 2018. We were checking into the Hawthorn hotel and decided to grab a bite , it was 9pm and they closed at 10. The server was very friendly , menu was smaller but not your usual foods . We enjoyed it a lot . My husband got the French onion soup which he said was delicious and I got the chili which was also very good . For our main meal my husband got the turkey / roast beef comb sandwich on marble rye and he enjoyed it . I had ordered the prime rib sandwich on the roll , very good !! The portion sizes were just enough for a late night meal . It looks like a family owned restaurant with regulars in there . They have a full service bar also with TVs that had college football on . If we ever are in that area again, definitely a stop we will make !! Thanks for the yummy dinner read more

Oshkosh takes a beating every year when half a million crazed aviation enthusiasts (my SO included) flock here in mid-summer for the world's largest aviation gathering, the week-long EAA AirVenture. I was there this past summer and came back for a visit in early fall when the town was its quaint little self again. Friar Tuck's is probably the closest restaurant/bar to the airport, and I suspect it could have gotten by with mediocre food at this prime location. Thankfully it's not the case. I had an awesome crock of French onion soup and forced my way into my SO's plate after he raved about the fantastic Reuben. Neither of us could recall a better version of either. Will definitely come back when we are in town again. read more

I feel inclined to give this place a review (I rarely review though I am a foodie) because it called Friar Tuck's!! I am a Robin Hood fan. Where else can you get 2 glasses of ménage a trois for $5.75?? I would say this is the hooters of Wisconsin. And I had a fabulous mushroom Swiss burger (the special) with mushroom gravy, dill dip with veggies, and french onion soup. Along with a whole other Togo order (chicken focaccia), my bill came out to a ridiculously cheap 23.08. My server was very friendly on top of it. It has cocktail service starting 11 am. And with a bigger domestic beer selection than Georgia's, I feel very welcomed here for my first trip to Wisconsin. I'm very impressed to have eaten at this place, which is next to a super 8 motel and near the oshkosh airport. read more

I've been here quite a few times, usually for a quick lunch or happy hour. The atmosphere is always dark and dingy and the staff wears the strangest uniforms. With that said, the food here has always been good. The french onion soup, chili (with noodles), and prime rib sandwich are the best items on the menu. And they always give you a celery, carrot stick, and dip with your meal. It's an odd place, but the food is consistently good and the service is friendly and fast. read more

The waitress was very busy but very kind. My roast beef sandwich was so dry, literally tasteless dried out beef. I could not eat it despite the au jus. My friend's fries were cold but he said his burger was edible. He also had a tap beer that was flat. Very disappointed. This restaurant is nothing like it used to be! read more

This restaurant has really gone downhill fast. Terrible service the last 3 times we've been there. Hardly anyone in the place and we waited and waited for our food.. Many customers complaining about the same waitress. We ended up walking out...and they still charged us for our sodas! We won't be back. read more

Horrible service and verrry greasy food. I was not greeted or asked how my food was during my meal. My evening started with flat beer, I let that go because I figured it's a small thing, whatever. My husband ordered a black & blue burger - asked for it medium rare - it was almost fully pink throughout. He could not eat more than half after finding a hair! We told the bartender and she said "ok sorry..." and walked away. I told the bartender she could surprise me with my meal and holy moly. I couldn't pick the sandwich/burger up without it falling apart everywhere because it was so greasy. The bread was so soggy it couldn't hold any of the contents. Chili was okay, fries were - well, fried. Overall, good if you need a hangover cure or heart attack, but would not recommend. read more

It'll kill you, but the double cheeseburger at Friar Tuck's is hands down the best burger I've ever eaten. This one pound behemoth has great flavor and all the gooey, melty cheese you could ever ask for. It truly is a taste of heaven because you'll be there, figuratively and literally, after finishing. For the really adventurous and gluttonous patrons like me, don't forget to order their excellent cheese curds as well to pair with the double cheeseburger. I only wish I still lived in the area and could enjoy it more often; my arteries thank me though. read more

The happy hour was really popular. 2 for 1. Order one and get the second at the same time. The place cleared out at 7 when this offer ended. Step back into the 1960's. Lots of dark brown paint. Basic burger and sandwich menu. The burger was ok. The server was attentive and friendly. Close to airport and hotels. read more

14 bread options for your sandwiches. 0 gluten-free options. How hard is it to keep a bag of Udi's in back? Pretty lazy. The waitress outfits are quite belittling, and I'm just not overly comfortable with the atmosphere. Everyone was nice, just not my kind of place. Hope you have a better experience. read more

Happy hour 2 for 1 drink special is awesome. The baked French onion soup is great. The sandwiches are a bit dated, but still tasty. The side of carrots and celery with dip is cute, but I find myself wanting about 3 more sticks of each. The fish fry is tasty. The patty melts are great. Very rustic decor, with dark wood and low lighting levels. It can get noisy when it's busy. Save room for dessert. read more

While we're not what I'd call regulars, we do like to stop when we're in the area. The food and service is typically good, not great, but good. Today was our last time going to this establishment. We got there when they opened (11am). We were shown tonour table and before our butts hit the seats, our waitress, Lisa, asked if we were ready to order. I went to the restroom and as soon as I sat down, she asked again if we were ready. When we were ready, we had to wait an unusually long time. We ordered 2 burgers, medium well and a French onion soup. The soup was good, albeit almost devoid of onions. The burgers were served. One was medium rare with no grill marks. Served with dill pickle slices, celery stick and 2 carrot sticks. The other was medium well with pickles and a celery stick. Hmmm. No carrots. Neither burger had any real flavor. The buns there are heavy, but good. Bad food with worse service. We don't plan on ever returning. read more

The French onion soup and the Long Island iced teas are very good. The service can be a little slow but overall very nice. The slot machine are not bad read more

Yelp really needs to offer .5 levels, because I would give Friar Tuck's a 4.5/5 stars. We stayed at the hotel next door, so stopped into Friar Tuck's for dinner on our last night in town. It was quite the experience. The restaurant was dark with deep wood decor and furniture, to stick with the theme. The waitresses were also dressed in skimpy monk dresses (not very monk-like, if you ask me), but it was cute. They have a huge bar and offer TWO FOR ONE happy hour. I repeat: BUY ONE, GET ONE...FREE. My boyfriend ordered a single whiskey and received two full rocks glasses. We could not believe this was a happy hour deal! Everyday! I regret not ordering a drink. The food was solid, but nothing out of this world. My boyfriend had the pot roast sandwich, which was simple and really delicious. The meat was very tender and juicy and the bread was great. The fries were also very good and perfectly crispy. I should have ordered a full plate of fries to indulge. I didn't order as well as my S/O did. I saw many soup bowls on tables, so I ordered the chili, but did not prefer it. It was oddly sweet, and had very over-cooked elbow noodles in it. Not my cup of tea. I should have gone with the french onion, which seems to be popular amongst fellow Yelpers. I did enjoy the side salad, which was fresh and crisp. The biggest success of this entire experience was the dang dill sauce they serve with veggie sticks on some plates. This stuff was addicting. I would eat raw vegetables happily if I had access to this sauce at all times. If the owner/manager/chef of Friar Tuck's wants to give me the recipe......... Our waitress Paige was great. Everything was very speedy and the entire meal was only $20. You cannot beat that. If you enjoy flowin' drinks, good simple food, and wouldn't be alarmed if Monty Python characters popped out of the woodwork, then Friar Tuck's is the place for you. We would definitely return! read more

A great place to get a sandwich. I had a Black Forest, which was really delicious and just filling enough. I was able to skip the fries, which I didn't want, which was perfect. My mother-in-law has a crab salad sandwich on a croissant and she loved it. We both had a Bloody Mary which was perfectly seasoned. It's a quiet, almost hidden gem of a place. read more

I personally love this place. The food here is good and fair priced for the times. Every time I visit from out of country/state I make it my mission to visit this place and have a sandwich and drink. :) read more

Honestly, I don't even know where to start with Friar Tuck's. The restaurant is very dark, in both lighting and decor, and looks like they haven't changed a thing since 1975. The outfits the waitresses wear are hands down the worst I have ever seen. Imagine a short, brown, probably polyester, pullover dress with a rope belt -- the kind of "sexy monk" Halloween costume you might buy in a bag for $39.95 in sizes small, medium, and large. From the looks of it, pantyhose are mandatory with this outfit. I...don't even know what to say. So let's move on. Once seated, the server took our drink orders, which seemed to be slightly more complicated than it really needed to be. Drinks took a while to arrive, and I'm pretty sure my mom used to own these exact glass tumblers. Ordering lunch was, uh, difficult. Despite writing everything down, our server seemed to have a really hard time comprehending things. A kids burger and fries for the two kids to split isn't rocket science, at least last time I looked. When she brought soup for the boyfriend and me, I took the lemon off the top before I figured out it was not the French onion I had ordered, but the seafood chowder soup of the day. She seemed confused when I reminded her of my order, but took it back. French onion eventually showed up with the rest of the food, along with a cheeseburger that I also had not ordered. The server eventually produced my Caesar salad with an apology and said she'd take it off the bill, but I have no idea how I ended up with something completely different than what I'd ordered. The food itself was...bad. There's no other word for it. My soup was pretty eh, my salad was pretty lame for the $6.75ish they're charging for it, and the boyfriend reported that the chicken in his salad had an extremely weird texture. I don't care how cheap it is (prices probably also haven't changed in at least a decade or two), I don't want to eat this food ever again. This experience was an absolute train wreck from beginning to end. Friar Tuck's needs to be taken out back behind ye olde barn and shot, in my opinion. read more

I've been here a few times, usually on the weekends. This place is a hot spot to get lunch for the older locals and families as it's busy every time I'm there. There's a dining area and a bar where you can watch a game if desired. It is dark in there which makes it feel kind of depressing. The service here is usually pretty quick and friendly. The last time I got seated right away, ordered drinks and food. Once we got our food we never saw our server again. She was serving other tables and never checked on us. It then took a while to get the bill. Some different server gave me my bill, and then took a while to come back to take it and charge my credit card. The food here has always been decent, whether it's a burger, sandwich, or soup. They're really known for their french onion soup. Myself am a fan of their chili. I love that they put noodles in it. The last time I had a simple ham and swiss cheese sandwich on rye bread. Two thumbs up! And a bonus, you always get a celery and carrot stick, and dip with your meal. read more

Friar Tucks is located west of the end of Runway 27 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh and is a popular destination of mine when either flying to Oshkosh or visiting for the annual airshow. I enjoy their hot ham & cheese served with Swiss Cheese on a Dark Rye Bread. I have also enjoyed their Cheeseburger. The prices seemed fair and the service was great. read more

Ahh, Friar Tuck's. Anyone who has ever camped under their plane in the North 40 at the Oshkosh air show knows them well. These folks have managing a crowd down to an art. The waitresses keep their cool while juggling the barrage of sunburnt polo shirt-clad pilots that swoops in every July, and service has never wavered. The food is great all-purpose mostly fried pub food. Some excellent burgers, the crab salad croissant, and cheese curds. Average drinks. Great prices. And a great view of the departing traffic every afternoon after the air show from the patio. I haven't been here during any of the other 51 weeks of the year, but seeing how well they manage the one that we all descend upon them, I can't see that there would ever be any complaints. read more

It doesn't matter which location you visit, their food, prices and ambiance are sure to please. Their menu consists primarily of sandwiches, hot and cold. They are delicious! I personally prefer the Reuben but their are many to ponder over. I highly recommend a bowl of the onion soup, yummy. My wife loves their chicken wings, always very crunchy and delicious. They have 3 locations, we've eaten at the food du lac and Manitowac locations. Definitely our go to place when we are in these cities. So good we sometimes travel from Milwaukee just to eat there and return. read more

Can't beat the food for the price. Ordered the roast beef sandwich - au jus was incredibly flavorful. Meat wasn't piled on, but it was $6 so I didn't expect it to be. Immediately made Lexi regret serving us by seeing Fat Squirrel on tap, and saying "Hey dad, they have your chubby squirrel..." Stop here every year while at EAA....never disappointed. Be prepared to wait a bit in the evening....gets really busy!

We were driving through town on the way home from Door Co., and were looking for something different from all the standard chain restaurants. Friar Tuck's was a pleasant surprise. Being a fan of retro decor, I found Friar Tuck's to be awesome. I felt like I stepped back into the 70s when I walked in the door. It's a dark restaurant/bar with wood paneling, and old leather chairs on gold rolling weels. The lovable friar character was on the signs, the napkins, and the glass that divided the bar and the restaurant area. Overall, it's a monk decor. The glasses and plates were 70s looking as well. A total time warp experience. Quite entertaining how the waitresses wear the silly friar costumes. The service was good, and everything was very reasonably priced. The menu is mainly sandwiches. Our sandwiches were good. A bit on the greasy side. We ordered one side of fries for the two of us and it was plenty. Even though it was very vintage looking inside it was clean and well maintained. If you like a little retro, or just a good deal on food give Friar Tuck's a try. You can't beat dinner for two for $19.00 read more

The second night of the Airventure airshow brought me to Friar Tucks. I had been here before in 2007. Although the place was fun in 07 as i watched the Air force bomber pilots play quarter bounce, this time was not as fun. The staff was put off that we wanted to order food and this place is in need of a serious makeover. My business partner who is quite a bit younger than me even commented that he now knows what it is like to live in the 60's. The rolling vinyl chairs and dark dingy lighting sure substantiated his statement. The food is blah and the atmosphere is meh... Yes it is close to the airfield.. But that is about all i can say is good. Should you try it ?? Yes.. So you can relive the 60/70's... Just don't expect much. read more

Dear Friar Tuck's Regulars: Thank you for giving up your watering hole for one week in July every year, yet keeping the lights on (however dim they may be) and paying the bills for the other 51 weeks a year. FT is an annual tradition for pilots and a welcome oasis from the justle and bustle of EAA AirVenture. Food is decent, drinks are cheap, and a great place to chill and chat with the bartenders.
