This is a mixed review. The two movers actually did a good job once they got going. It was a hot…read moreday with lots of stairs so I appreciated their efforts. My stuff was in good hands and no damages. Although I was a bit put off that I was asked to sign a statement there were no damages when I had not actually had a chance to see all of my stuff. That is shady at best. Where I have issues is with the company's practices. . They don't return calls. The estimate and the reality were pretty far apart. They should estimate based on number of rooms not number of boxes. I had stuff well organized and don't own a lot of furniture, was moving from a 1-bedroom and they did not wrap anything, although I believe I pId for wrapping for my couch but did not receive it. They came at 9:30 and did not finish until 2:00 pm. When the movers came I specifically asked if it was okay for me to run an errand and they agreed. I later found out there was paperwork to sign and instead of calling or texting me to tell me this, they waited for me to come back upstairs to my apt - so I paid for almost an hour where no moving got done. This actually has two parts -- I was handed a ream of papers to sign and I signed and initialed them, then went downstairs. A few minutes later one mover comes downstairs to tell me his boss had said they should return if I refused to sign the documents. I signed ALL of the paperwork provided - he pulled out a contract type form I had never seen before. So, their boss was threatening me from Indianapolis without all the facts and having never spoken to me. It was odd and off putting and very unprofessional of the owner, Benjamin. I am paying hard-earned money for a move I had scheduled in June. I signed a contract and to have a ream of papers thrown at me by movers I am paying to move by the hour was not cool. Then to get blamed for the company's disorganized paperwork and threatened with them abandoning my move was terrible. Send that stuff ahead of time so customers can review. Last, I had an a/c window unit to move and ended up not being able to because the drivers told me they did not have a screw driver because the company does not provide tools. What the hell? All of my tools were packed. And what happened to the 89.00 deposit I paid when I booked the move back in June? The work itself was fine but the company has some odd practices that were red flags for me. Both workers were heavy smokers too. They smoked outside but carried the odor into my home,'so that was unpleasant, especially since I have asthma.

This is our story: Contacted Master Movers and Jeff was our estimator. I had previously gotten a quote from a local moving company who came to our house to quote our international move. It was high so I started shopping around and thinking I dotted all my i's and crossed all my t's was all set. NOPE! I gave Jeff info from the local quote and he quoted me on cubic feet instead of weight like local company did. BIG MISTAKE on my part because his quote for cubic feet was HALF of our moving load, but he led us to believe that was the whole quote in cubic feet. Needless to say when the loaders came, we found out why they had two 16' trucks AFTER they loaded the first truck. Then he showed us the paper work saying we only paid for one truck. Jeff had already said we were getting a semi truck to cover all of our move. Needless to say, Jeff or anyone else from Master Movers was not answering our repeated efforts to contact them. The head person (loader) contacted his boss at Bison Relocation (first time that name came up) and told him our situation. We ended up paying what our local moving company had quoted! I was also concerned that our loads were going to get reloaded into a bigger truck. I might also add the head loader guy said they use two smaller trucks because of the size of a semi truck that might not have room, etc. I believe this is their way of cheating you because they know you will have to load the other truck! Anyway giving credit to the loaders as they were professional and did a great job. I cannot give credit to the loaders who loaded the semi. Most of our boxes were delapidated and my rocking chair was busted beyond repair. Also tall lampstands were a casualty. A steel footboard frame also came apart. Beward of how they list your boxes as the head loader basically just count the boxes and doesn't list the room or items marked on the box. Kudos to the driver of the semi truck that delivered the furniture as he stayed to set up bed frames and recliners. Not sure why he didn't make sure our load was more secure. We are just thankful it got here. This was the first cross country move we've had to do and we are senior citizens, so needless to say, we were so tired and just wanted/needed to get this move done. We were definitely taken advantage of. I will have to give this a one star rating in order to post but they do not deserve any stars!

While the project began within the allowable start window, the work is now months beyond the promised completion timeframe. We also had warranty work from exterior painting that we previously contracted with H&H Painting that needs to be completed. After more than 13 weeks of periodical work, one bathroom remained unfinished, the second bathroom had not been started, and the exterior painting was still incomplete. Communication throughout the project was extremely poor. Multiple emails, text messages, phone calls, and voicemails often went unanswered, and commitments for updates, schedules, and completion dates were repeatedly missed. I found myself spending significant time coordinating with subcontractors and managing aspects of the project that should have been handled by the contractor. Despite numerous assurances that schedules and plans would be provided, the promised follow-up communication frequently failed to occur. Even after sending a formal demand letter and requesting a resolution, progress remained minimal and I continued to struggle to obtain clear answers regarding completion of the work. Delays can happen on any construction project, but a lack of communication, missed commitments, and failure to provide reliable scheduling made this experience extremely frustrating. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.

Annoying but fine. I check-in at 3 and make sure it's still on track - it is. 4:30 comes and goes and I don't hear anything...a few more calls from me later and they arrive at 6. Sean, the store manager, personally came to my place to make sure the move was on track and helped move items. He was professional and apologetic, noting that it was a day that when it rains, it pours. We all have those. He gave me a discount and kept his cool in a situation where quite frankly, I couldn't. Moving is stressful and he made an even more stressful situation less so. The movers themselves took a little while but as the last move of the day (ended at 10pm) I understand. All in all, AMS did a great job in a pretty crappy spot and I understand their hiccups throughout the day. I personally am giving 3 stars because of the way the situation was resolved in the end. For the (albeit discounted) price and situation I feel like they gave me good work.

Bryan told us that the installers were all Empire employees. What came were all sub-contractors. We paid first half at the time of his visit and he stated they they would run our debit card for the final payment but the funds would not be released until we signed off on all the work. As soon as the debit card was entered the funds came out of our account. The laminated flooring was supposed to be completed in one day, it was not. This was a our upstairs remodel, which Bryan was made aware that we had narrow time lines for the installs to be done. They were also suppose to remove the master bath toilet and bring it into the garage. They removed the toilet and placed it in the second upstairs bath with water in it which can all over the bathroom in which my wife had to clean up since I was away on business. The hall closet was suppose to be laminated flooring. The subcontractors took the old carpeting out but did not install the laminated flooring. When my wife asked about it, they said it was not on their install sheet, when she called the company phone number they told her it was not part of the install, she tried to call Bryan and there was no answer or return phone call. On day 3, the installers for the carpeting came out. Again it was suppose to be done the same day, it was not, they did not bring enough carpeting to finish the job, due to other installed coming in to perform other installs not with this company, our upstairs carpeting had to be put off for a week. I will not make the statement that I will never use this company again but I will state that it will be my last choice in flooring installs.
