Re-floored an entire house. Total cost was a little over 7 Grand. Once the floors were done, my 3 year old daughter moved a chair and it scratched the floor. I called Empire (they answer with a simple Hello, which was weird for a business) got a case number and was told they would call me back. 2 weeks went by and I finally called back. They said there was a note in my case. The "scratch Resistant" floors are NOT covered under warranty. It's literally 2 panels that need to be replaced and they won't cover it. The sale rep. also was pushy and lifted up his shirt in front of my wife to wipe some sweat. Not a sleeve wipe, a full on here's my belly/chest wipe. My wife was alone with him at the time and felt very uncomfortable. Buyer beware. read more

Sales representative Bryan came out and gave a sales pitch on the products. We went with laminated flooring for the master bedroom and bath, hallway and and bonus room which was suppose to include the hallway half closet and carpeting for our upstairs second and third bedroom and the stairs leading downstairs. Bryan told us that the installers were all Empire employees. What came were all sub-contractors. We paid first half at the time of his visit and he stated they they would run our debit card for the final payment but the funds would not be released until we signed off on all the work. As soon as the debit card was entered the funds came out of our account. The laminated flooring was supposed to be completed in one day, it was not. This was a our upstairs remodel, which Bryan was made aware that we had narrow time lines for the installs to be done. They were also suppose to remove the master bath toilet and bring it into the garage. They removed the toilet and placed it in the second upstairs bath with water in it which can all over the bathroom in which my wife had to clean up since I was away on business. The hall closet was suppose to be laminated flooring. The subcontractors took the old carpeting out but did not install the laminated flooring. When my wife asked about it, they said it was not on their install sheet, when she called the company phone number they told her it was not part of the install, she tried to call Bryan and there was no answer or return phone call. On day 3, the installers for the carpeting came out. Again it was suppose to be done the same day, it was not, they did not bring enough carpeting to finish the job, due to other installed coming in to perform other installs not with this company, our upstairs carpeting had to be put off for a week. I will not make the statement that I will never use this company again but I will state that it will be my last choice in flooring installs. read more

Their customer service people are great but anyone actually responsible in the company is insanely hard to reach by phone. They rarely reply to messages left and they purposely postpone appointments to push through warranty time limits. They are criminal in their pricing and should be removed from the Better Business Bureau! Do not get drawn in by their charming sales reps. It's all show and no substance! We had empire do our stairs and the sales guy Ryan said several times it would be fully completed. We specifically asked about the top and stair nose, and were told it would be completed. To our surprise the installer didn't have the stair nose upon install. It's been about 5-6 weeks now and we still have unfinished stairs. They were supposed to come the last 4 weeks. 3 of the weeks no one showed up and the one time someone did, they had the incorrect size stair nose. I used empire in my last home and have spent thousands of dollars with this company. You think they would want to treat repeat customers better.horrible and greedy company! The sales meeting to install was very quick and easy. First Id like to say that the carpet we got in our three bedrooms matched perfectly with the samples we saw and we are happy with them. The laminate floors did not match the color it showed online so we had to cancel that install. Corporate reached out to us and were eager to help us find a color we like but after the mixup with the floor we simply decided to keep the carpet we had and no longer do the laminate. It has been 2.5 weeks since this happened and EVERY SINGLE DAY I receive a call asking us to confirm our upcoming installation appointment. Every time i tell them that the install manager is supposed to call us to talk to us(because they did start laying the laminate before we noticed the color was not as advertised) so we are still supposed to pay for labor(which is unfortunate but I completely understand). NO MANAGER EVER CALLS. No matter how much I escalate to customer service or even back to corporate the same thing happens. I have spent hours of my time just trying to speak to an install manager SO YOU PEOPLE WILL STOP CALLING ME EVERY DAY FOR AN APPOINTMENT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. I will never recommend your company to anyone I know because you are extremely quick to take our money but no matter what I do I cant reach someone who can help me. I had Empire Today install a kitchen floor with LVT and the tiles are not glued down. Trying to get this resolved is an ongoing nightmare. Never, never use Empire Today. Overall installation was shotty at best. I am so disappointed. read more

Do not buy from Empire. Poor quality, poor installation and poor customer service. New flooring throughout my entire house 1.5 years ago and every carpet seam is fraying and coming apart. Tried to get it fixed with my own money only to be told it can not be repaired and has to be replaced due to installing the carpet too tight. Perfect, installation error no fault of my own only to be told that installation is only covered for a year!?!??? Their solution, for me to pay them $1800 dollars more for them to only replace part of the flooring with no guarantee that it would match with the rest of the flooring. Talk about a SCAM! Empire Today has the worst customer service going today. Initially was supposed to have my carpet install on the date requested. Installer showed up, took measurements and found out he didn't have enough carpet to do the install. I called Empire several times asking for explanation and when they would have the rest of my carpet and they promised someone would call me back...they never did. After 5 days, I finally got a call back. My advice? If you need flooring, work with someone else. I'm never working with Empire again. read more

I would like to thank Matthew Dupree and Jerry Bowers for totally sorting out a bad material issue.. My floor ended up being done three times. The first two times the LVP cupped and curled. This last time they refused to use the same material and upgraded me to a better quality at no extra cost. Since this problem really started during the Pandemic, I can't complain about how long it took to get it sorted, once they got back to full staffing those guys were all over my issue and had it sorted very quickly. The install crew was top notch and very courteous as well. This was my third floor I had done by Empire. at the end of the day, the entire customer service team in Indianapolis treated me with respect and provided a very high level of customer service. Had High Quality laminate flooring installed in 5 rooms in our house. The work crew was on time and very efficient in taking out the carpeting and putting the new flooring down. Lead person was quite nice and explained how they would work. They carefully moved the furniture around and was careful not to damage anything. They did all this in one day. The sales representative was pushy, sexist, and continued to use fear tactics to make me use their services. He made me feel uncomfortable within my own home. I basically put a deposit down just so I could get him out of my house. I called to cancel the service and get my deposit back, and I was put on hold for 20 minutes and transferred to two different people. After telling these people "no: I want to cancel my service." They continued to push: I finally told them atleast 11 times and they cancelled my service. Words of advice: don't walk into someone's home and be so pushy, use fear tactics to scare them to hire you, and be sexist. Not a good business move. Hopefully they refunded my deposit. If you do go with them: talk them down on their ridiculous pricing. I got $400 knocked off due to telling them that I could find cheaper. read more

The salesman took a deposit when I placed my order, in February with a 30 day cancellation policy for installation in April. An appt was made for 8am on 4/22. The installers did not arrive at noon and when they walked in they said they didn't have enough carpet, they had another installation they needed to get to, and that I'd be contacted later that week to reschedule. I have never been contacted as of 5/4/21. I have called in, left messages, sent e-mails, and once spoke to a lady on the phone who said I would be contacted in 1-3 days, a week ago. It's unclear what the issue is on their end, but the complete lack of customer service is clear. I've just called in, reached someone, then placed on hold and hung up on...18 min. read more

Third issue post sale and installation. First issue was that the toilet reset leaked the day after they left. They came back out (twice) and finally fixed it. Luckily no damage to floor. Issue two was 18 months in the flooring was showing unusual wear. We didn't think the wear was normal and definitely not after just 18 months. After several calls and being told based on pictures the issue was our fault for using abrasive cleaners, we finally got a person to the house. They still ended up telling us it was our fault. Beware of their engineered hardwood. We are not happy with the product as it's finish is wearing faster than any other flooring we've owned. Of course we were out of the warranty. But we did not use abrasive cleaners... so left with needing to restrain the wear myself. Third issue: fridge leaked and ruined about a foot in front of fridge. That's not empires fault, which I know, and they made perfectly cleR to me on my phone call. But just know that they will not replace just a section of ruined flooring. They will only replace with a full room install. So if I need a few Boards replaced, I need to do the entire kitchen. And since it's a the main floor without transition strips today they will either replace the entire main floor or just the kitchen with transition strips. Either way we are talking about empires inability to address the homeowners smallest issue without requiring a full room installation. I will never buy flooring without the ability to walk into the store and address issues with a local business. You all can make your own decision. It all seems great when they get the new floor down in 2 days and it looks great. But if you run into any issues... beware! read more

Reading the reviews on here made me a little nervous ahead of my Empire carpet installation today, but my experience could not have gone more smoothly. My sales rep, Sharon, was polite and helpful last week during our appointment -- discussed my options, didn't pressure me and worked within my budget. We scheduled my installation for today and I received a call at 8:30 a.m. letting me know my installer would arrive between 9 and 10 a.m. The installer, Keith, called a few minutes later to let me know he was 20 minutes away and showed up exactly when he said he would. I was amazed that he was able to strip out my old carpet and install my new carpet in two bedrooms all on his own in a matter of 3 hours. He did an amazing job -- we hardly even noticed he was here! Very satisfied with my overall Empire experience, and my new carpet. read more

We scheduled to have our carpet we purchased from Empire April 11th 2022. They canceled that day plus the day they rescheduled to do the installation. Empire supposedly states if you call them the day of installation they will give you the ETA for the installers to come install at your home. I contacted them three times the rescheduled day of installation and nothing! Do not do business with Empire, they're not reputable! read more

We had wood-laminate floors installed this past July and are pleased with the quality of flooring, cost, and installation. The installation was quick and clean. We were however a little surprised that the installers, who are professionals, do not keep tools to cut flooring to fit in odd places- for instance our utility/laundry room. They couldn't cut to fit around the water-heater and furnace so they matched it up as close as they could, and our old flooring remains around those areas (see photo). We also had several areas of our baseboards with paint torn off that will need to be repainted due to damage when they were taking out the existing flooring. Maybe these issues are normal protocol, but none of that was talked about during our sales appointment or even after installation got there. They were offering 50% off sale and still were much higher than quote with no discounts. I got no response after I provided other quotes. After getting it cleaned and sent them the receipt they added that it had to be PROFESSIONALLY cleaned every 16 months, although we cleaned it ourselves every month! Ordered carpet and vinyl flooring to be installed in my home. Got a message that the vinyl I had ordered and paid for had not arrived in the warehouse so my installation was being rescheduled to the following week. My carpet was installed on time, but installers broke my large bookshelf and never said a word about it. When my vinyl install was suppose to happen no one called or showed up. I repeated called and left messages for the Installation Coordinator, K Lewis, and she not only NEVER answered her phone, she also NEVER called me back to explain why my vinyl was not being installed as it was already paid for. I ended up canceling and now have to wait 7-10 business days for a check to be mailed. DO NOT waste your money with these people; they will just waste your time!!! read more

They canceled my initial installation by voicemail. Had a hard time reaching somebody to get it rescheduled. When I did get it rescheduled they were 2 hours late showing up. I was at work at the time of installation When I came home, none of the rooms looked like what I picked out. I picked out cheaper carpet for my spare bedrooms and more expensive carpet for my master bedroom. They put the more expensive stuff I'm my spare bedrooms and cheaper stuff in my master which was the most important room! I have never had such a horrible experience. Moved all of my house into the garage last thursday , Friday morning the installers show up with no hour heads up call from empire. They put down tack strip thru the house , padding in the living room. The head installer then somehow realized they didn't have enough carpet from the empire factory. I called the saleman, he said we will just reschedule for Tuesday. I called customer service to complain they said they could refund $100 and promised to be here first thing Monday morning. 2 pm Monday still have not showed up. I called to cancel the order and was told that my refund of $2060 will take up to 14 days to receive. I would never ever for any reason reccomned empire, they are a joke!!!! read more

They might cost a couple hundred dollars extra than lowes and Home Depot but it is well worth it. They offer same day quotes and next day installs with little to no wait time even in these tough times with product shortages and delays. All the installers and licensed and insured so you don't have to worry about a "jack of all trades" mediocre install experience. All the prices are lumped together so there are no hidden add on costs that you have to pay for later on. Managers are very respectful and willing to help out when you have questions. read more

I had hard wood flooring installed in two rooms. My experience with Empire Today was great. I got a good deal on the floor and labor. I did shop around and aside from doing it myself ( which I am not a floor layer ) Empire was the most reasonable. As far as the wood flooring itself, it's American made and high quality. Again, as far as pricing goes (I did my research), flooring like anything else, you get what you pay for. You can't buy laminate and expect wood floor quality. (Nothing against laminate because there are some quality laminate floors but your comparing apples to oranges.) As far as the installers, they were very professional and did great work. All in all I like my wood floors and had an great experience with Empire Today. I could of gone with another company, but the half off flooring and half off installation made it a tough deal to beat. Also, as inexpensive as some of Lumber Liquidators hard wood flooring can be, it comes down to the quality of wood again. Even at Lumber Liquidators, the better the quality, the higher the price which in the end comes down to who will install the cheapest to give you the better overall price. Also, there was a concern with where Lumber Liquidators gets its flooring. Where the material is made and how it's made matters when your looking at the expense, value, and life of the flooring. If I sound like a paid advertisement or an paid worker for Empire Today, I am not. If you can find a better deal or price on any flooring, pick what's best for you. I am giving my advice based on my own experience and research. Hardwood flooring is expensive and you have to pick what works best for you needs. I read some of the bad reviews any those bad reviews could be totally legit and I respect that. I am not advocating to buy from Empire Today, I'm saying do your research on the product you want to buy, the pricing for that product, how much will it cost to install, the warranty on the product, and the installation warranty from the place of purchase ( if it's not a do it yourself job). I will disclose that I did not buy the highest quality of wood flooring for two reasons. First, I couldn't afford it, and second, it wasn't conducive to the environment of my home. Although I didn't go with the high end wood, I didn't go with low end quality either. I chose flooring that would be conducive to the the value of my home and add more value. The choice of Empire Today worked for me and I would return to them again. read more

Install was fast and efficient. Customer service is horrible. Good luck if you ever have a problem. Try waiting 24 "business hours" for a call back. Yes, "business hours" or in real life, 3 days. Then you don't get a call. You call back wait another 24 "business hours". Call again... Same old routine. Someone will call you, 2 weeks later. When they call, they're extremely unhelpful and you'll wish you would have waited to install from a local company. The customer has little to no recourse now, other than to write a bad review. Do not give Empire Today your business!!!! First of all, the salesman are very shady. They do not tell you exactly how they are calculating the cost for your carpet and then tell you that you have to sign the contract and pay a deposit BEFORE you can read it. I asked several times for a copy to review ahead of time, but he told me that it was not possible. He said it is their business model to have people pay and sign first and that I should just "trust" him. Once I signed and paid, I realized that there were several issues/mistakes in the contract. He was trying to give me a cheaper carpet pad than what I specifically ordered, he did not give me the discount I was supposed to get, even when I provided him the discount code and a snapshot of the confirmation from the person who made the appointment, and the measurements were all wrong. When he first came out to my house, the salesman messed up my order several times. He measured the wrong rooms and I had to keep redirecting him. It took him almost 2.5 hours to measure 2 rooms. They he forgot to measure one bedroom and a closet. He did not realize his error, but I noticed the error after I had paid the deposit and THEN WAS FINALLY ABLE TO REVIEW THE CONTRACT. Empire did not refund my deposit and the salesman had to go back out to the house a different day to measure everything again. He also tried to slip in a cheaper carpet pad, versus the one I had specifically requested. I did not see that either until I was able to review the contract (after I paid). I told him I wanted to the same carpet (style-color) and padding that was installed by Empire Today last year in my house (I purchased the home recently and they had Empire carpet so I had to go through Empire to match it). I even provided the salesman with the style and color information from the previous order to make sure it would match. However, when the carpet came (the installers arrived after 5pm about 5 hours late and did not get around to installing it until 7 pm), it was the wrong color and did not match. The installers only spoke Spanish, and kept saying "sorry it is the wrong color!" So I called Empire Today that night as soon as we could see that the color was wrong and did not match. However, the person I spoke to said that they had to finish installing it that night since they already tore out the old carpet and padding, but that he would have someone call me in the morning to work on getting the situation fixed. No one called the next morning. Or then next day. I tried calling Empire Today numerous times and they kept forwarding me to a person who was "assigned my case" but she never answered the phone. I left over 45 messages but never heard back. I paid over $1700 for carpet for two bedrooms and the carpet color is wrong and they won't fix it. They won't even respond to my concerns or call me back or look at the photos I took of the two different carpets or send someone out to try to look into the issue. I have just about given up and am so frustrated. Horrible customer service! And once they have your money, they don't care if the order is correct and the installation is satisfactory. SHAKEDOWN ARTISTS. We will NEVER use Empire. EVER. My husband is home right now due to some medical issues so he is following up on some things that need to be done around our home. We rent, but have been in the house a long time and eventually intend to buy. The carpet is now threadbare, and we discussed this with our landlord and we agreed to possibly sharing the cost in new flooring and that we'd have some companies come out and give some pricing. SHAKEDOWN 1. Guy comes out and gives estimate of around 2500. Wants husband to sign an agreement. Even after husband tells him we don't own the home and that we're looking on behalf of our landlord and we are just in the early stages of decision making, this guy keeps harping and wanting this paper signed saying it was "just to lock in the price" when later it's actually treated as a purchase order. SHAKEDOWN 2. They keep calling constantly and leaving messages to schedule installation. In the meantime we had storm damage with in the house that has come up and we have to table the flooring to deal with this issue first. Husband gets fed up and calls them and tells them we are not interested at this time and to please cancel whatever they've got in the system as we won't be moving forward right now. They REFUSE saying he has to talk to someone else, and this keeps going from one person to another in the organization. Each person resorts to INCREASINGLY AGGRESSIVE tactics to get him to agree to take the flooring, including continuing to reduce the price. They threaten to SHOW UP AT OUR HOUSE WITH THE FLOORING if he doesn't talk to the next person in line. When he says that's fine no one is letting you in and you're not getting paid they threaten to bill a "RESTOCKING FEE" . DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Talk about unprofessional! I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate on replacing the carpet of my business's new location. I moved around my whole schedule to make the appointment work. I told the person on the phone how time-sensitive my situation was, not just for that day, but because I was needing installation within a week or I wouldn't be able to open my new location on schedule. The next day, not only did no one show up in the 2 hour window, but I received no notification from the company about canceling. I called the regional headquarters, and their records showed my appointment was scheduled, but no salesman from the Indianapolis location was given my appointment. Not only that, but the offices in Indianapolis were completely unreachable all day, even when contacted by their regional headquarters. My partner and I called their offices all day, without getting anything but an answering machine. When I contacted the the regional customer service line again later, they said they could schedule me another appointment for the next day, but couldn't guarantee some one would show up. What kind of system is this? What's the point of even scheduling an appointment for someone, if you don't even know if it can be filled? This shows a complete lack of respect for their customers' time. I told the man on the phone that I'm not changing my schedule again to waste another two hours of my life, waiting for someone who may not come, and won't notify me either way.
