Decided to give the benefit of doubt after seeing multiple negative reviews online. Had a gentleman come out and he seemed very nice at first. After two hours, I eventually had to kick him out of my house! Estimates should NEVER take this long especially when I had less than 600 square feet to estimate. When I told him he had to go, he immediately got mean and on defense. His pricing was absolutely too high. He screamed at me for not wanting to make a purchase that same day. I hate to say this, but I had a feeling he was trying to pressure me into the high cost sale because I was a female that may not know any better. The original time estimate was incorrect and required me to find care for my 91 year old mother for two additional days. My house was left extremely dirty, raw wood showing on the ends of the quarter round and the water not reconnected on my refrigerator. Then they charged me an additional $500 on top of the original estimate because they failed to add in the carpet on my stairs to the estimate. The installer told me that I had paid in full when he was at the house. After I received the bill for an additional $500 I spoke with the office staff twice and she said a manager would call me right back each time. I was never contacted by a manager and instead started getting phone calls from their collection department. I explained the situation to the collection department and was told that they would send an email to the store and have someone contact me. That was on 1/16/23 and I have not heard from anyone 5 days later. I would not recommend this company and will not use them again. read more

PROS: - The carpet rep who came to my house was very friendly. - She called her manager and got permission to cut the price down to something I could afford. He said yes and upgraded the pad for me for free! - They offer no interest financing. - The installers were very nice and professional. - I love the carpet! CONS: - The rep stayed for HOURS. She really kind of overstayed her welcome. - She (as I imagine most of their sales reps are) was a "salesman". She would not leave until she closed the sale. I was not ready to make a decision the day she came to measure and show me samples but that's when they want a commitment from you. She pushed...but not too hard. I don't do well with pushy salesmen or pressure sales. It wasn't that degree. We paid to gave our entire house done with luxury plank vinyl. The first installer did such a poor job they had to redo the whole job which is still bad. They re- Laid the floor that was taken out not with new. The first installer left spots unfinished and laid wrong with pad when nine was needed. The second installer took almost three months and there are still imperfections. read more

This was a really good experience. We purchased an oak hardwood floor for our living room that was installed on the diagonal. The work was done to perfection, and the price was less than half what our estimate from a local retailer, and 1/3 less than a big box store estimate. Don't go with this company. I had someone come out for an estimate about a month ago. She was nice, but continually tried to convince me I didn't need to do closets though I was insistent that is what I wanted. I picked out the flooring I like, but asked to wait a couple of weeks to think through my options. I mentioned that someone was coming to town the following week to help me make the decision. She gave me her number and said to call to set up a time to come back. The next week I called and never heard back. Finally I just called the company and they finally got her to return my phone calls. When she came back for the following meeting she had the incorrect number of rooms and kept taking them off after I said I wanted them. We scheduled the install date and she left. I packed up everything in boxes and put it in the bathrooms (they weren't getting new flooring). Install day arrives and the installer says they can't install because the flooring is not level. The installer gave a couple of suggestions on solutions and left. When Empire calls to discuss the appointment they aren't even apologetic and ask when I want to reschedule (knowing I can't unless the subfloor is fixed). When I bring up that I am unhappy that their estimator didn't catch the problem she just moved on. Empire, train your estimators. read more

After 2 calls to empire (the first call ended up with the sales person putting me on hold for 5 minutes and then disconnecting the call) I was told the tech was not going to make it. This was the 2nd time we've used Empire, and its because of this we went with them over another flooring company we also called in for an estimate. The Empire Salesperson seemed unsure of himself and had problems with his laptop and when he used his laser measuring device(he continuously called a co-worker for assistance). Again, if it wasn't for the fact we've used them before, we would of gone with someone else. When the Installation Crew arrived, they identified themselves, and went right to work only to find out that they were short needed flooring materials, because the sizing done by the Sale Rep had been incorrect. The project took longer than was originally agreed on (2-days), since they had to go get the additional materials; these materials were provided with NO charge to us. The Installation Crew cleaned up, replaced the furniture, and removed all excess materials and residue. read more

We are pressed for time to move into our new house with leases ending at our current residences. We called last week to schedule an appointment for Empire to come out. The appointment was for Today. They confirmed the appointment yesterday with us. They just called saying they don't have anyone available. They can reschedule us for next week. Empire contacted me to address the problem. They are short on help, so be warned they feel it's acceptable to continue scheduling appointments when they know they don't have the manpower to arrive at them. If I could give a negative star, this review would deserve it.We had laminate flooring installed in our kitchen and dining room by Empire Today. I see their commercials every day, so I figure they must be squared away. NOT! The salesman came out and showed us some samples. We decided on one and the deal was made. When it's time for the installation, they bring out the wrong color laminate. Even the installation guys said it wasn't even close. A few days later the same salesman comes out. Not even an apology for the confusion. He opens his sample book and again er select the same type of flooring we agreed on at first. He wrote the information down, gave me the receipt and left. Another few days later, I have jury duty the same day they are to come to install the floor. My 32 year old son comes over to be here for the installation. When I get home, they're finished and gone but I cannot believe how they left my floor! The entrance into the kitchen had a 3 inch gap between where the carpet was and the flooring. The tack bar was actually exposed! (Thank God for camera phones). I couldn't believe it! I have grandchildren here and if they would've stepped on that exposed tack bar, it would've gotten real ugly with me and Empire Today. Pieces was not measured right and the ends was not even mitered! Not only that, but the living room carpet was laying over the transition piece coming from the dining room. It should've been tucked UNDER the strip. This was a horrible, sloppy and totally unprofessional mess!. And this was supposed to be a finished job???. I called the 1-800 number and spoke with a few people there (yes, I went off!!!). I told one person that I know a lot of people on WTHR TV News that would just love a story like this. My kitchen flooded. Even through the hallway and under the wall to my closet. I filed a claim with my insurance company and they paid out ASAP. I've never had to ever file a claim for my house. I had laminate flooring in my bedroom and closet and floating ceramic tiles in the kitchen. After Servpro came in took all the flooring out and dried out everything I called Empire. I wanted the best carpet and padding. They came in and I couldn't be more satisfied with that. However, since the lower cabinets had to be removed I had to wait 2 months before the kitchen could be done. I have never been jacked around as much as with them. After getting the run around with the staff (they canceled my order, refunded my money w/o letting me know) They said it was because I didn't respond to their phone call. No caller ID and didn't leave a message. Talked to a Krystal. She emailed me a new price since it was not my fault. After more run around I finally told them to cancel my order and return my $1500. We had two installations with this company, and the second has had absolutely horrible customer service. They promised us they would install the stair carpet in with a tuck under the ledge - which they didn't do. We've called - twice. Each time, they promise to call us back, and don't. They refuse to give us the contact information for the man we initially talked to. Plus, one of the crew members they sent out (the only one who spoke English and could translate) was a rude teenager who kept leaving our door hanging wide open so our cats could escape, even after we asked him not to. Empire gave me a quote for about 1000 square feet of flooring as well as tile demolition. My original quote for this project was $8,700 after a 50% discount Empire was running at the time. Removing tile is pretty expensive, and we agreed to the price of the project. However, Empire sent contractors out the day of installation who recommended laying our new LVP over the existing tile, as ripping tile from a slab can damage the concrete underneath. They assured this would make the project cheaper and decrease our labor by at least a day. I called Empire before the project started to make sure this cost would be removed from our bill. However, upon speaking to Mike Giannetto DAYS afterward, we were refused any refund for our project. Mike claims the sales rep sold our project at the absolute lowest cost possible and he cannot decrease the cost anymore. Mike has made countless excuses to me, including saying "sounds like I need to talk to the people below me and teach them how to sell properly". As a "manager", Mike is supposedly unable to give me any sort of refund, while refusing to escalate my concern to someone who can. The customer service we have received has been terrible. The best consolation from Empire has been a discount on additional flooring, but no thanks! I will not be using them again. read more

I am never one to completely blow off a company but after today's event I honestly cannot ignore this situation. Today we scheduled an appointment to have an estimate performed at our house and my wife was going to be the decision maker with replacing our carpets. The appointment was set and the salesman came over and from the get go everything was a struggle. He requested to speak with me and go over everything only if I was there. Even tho the appt was setup for my wife to be there. He called me the decision maker and wouldn't even bother measuring or bringing out samples since I wasn't there. Wanted nothing to do with my wife. I'm sorry but my wife makes these decisions in our family. I want her to choose the interior design, she is good at that. The fact that she asked several times for this individual to do an estimate, measurements, carpet examples and so on and he continuously argued that he couldn't because the decision maker was not at home is un fair to my wife. Felt quite sexist and biased to me. Please choose elsewhere if you ever plan on having an estimate performed and only your wife will be home. These people lost my trust and my business. Only reason they are even getting 2 and not 0 is because when they finally sent someone to fix their screw up, I was happy with the 2nd installers workmanship. The person they originally contract out did an awful job on my floors. They looked good for a few weeks but then they buckled, the floor boards and quarter round came off. Trying to get Empire to send someone out to fix their mistake was a nightmare. Their corporate office couldn't reach the Indianapolis office. No one would return my calls. Every time I called their computer systems never matched up so when you would call someone all the issues and arrangements discussed previously were not annotated. While I was over seas my father drove two hours to my house on two separate occasions to wait for them to repair my floors. One time they never showed up. The other, he showed up with not enough material. It's a very poorly ran company.... after 2 months of dealing with them. They FINALLY sent someone out to fix their screw up. This time around the people from Indianapolis called me and apologized and did make it right. But a bit to late in my opinion. This time around this different contractor did a great job!! I will have to wait once the winter hits and see how the floors hold up. I've spent over 10,000 dollars on flooring so far and have a few rooms left to do. Only way I'd ever hire them back is if they offered me one hell of a discount after all the trouble I went through. Others quoted me $5000-$6000 and Empire quote almost $1500.00!! for the same hardwood floor job, that's with their "half off special". I had a water heater slowly leak, causing water to get into my laminate flooring in my foyer and kitchen. I decided to use empire to replace the flooring as well as the baseboards. The installers on the first day were great. They were on time, did the job relatively quickly, and the flooring itself looked great. Then, I noticed some issues that needed to be addressed. The baseboards were not consistent with my original baseboards (theirs were too tall), and the transition piece between my foyer (where laminate is) and my living room (which has carpet) didn't cover the carpet enough to where the carpet didn't fray up from the transition piece. So, I called and asked to have the installers come look at it and fix it. They said they would come on a Saturday, since I work during the week. They told me I'd receive a phone call before they come, and so I made sure to keep the day open. No one called as of 5:00pm, and so I called empire to tell them that I'm worried I haven't heard anything yet. They said they called the installers but couldn't get in touch with them so they left a voice mail with my phone number attached to the message. I haven't even gotten a "this is what's up" call yet, and I feel I've wasted my whole Saturday waiting for something that clearly isn't going to get fixed today. In a word.... HORRIBLE! In 2013 I decided to have new floors put in at my house. So I went to Empire Today to get an idea. Well their sales person impressed me and I decided to get the floors through them. Before signing anything I asked some due diligence type questions like if the warranty on the floor would transfer when I sold the place. I was told "YES", so I went forward. When it finally came time to install some 3rd party contractor showed up. That was the initial shock since there was never any mention of that. The floor gets installed and I start checking places and find that there are a few issues. I point them out to the installers and they start saying that there is nothing they can do and it will always be a "soft spot" or that it will go away once more floor is down. They finish the upstairs and I check again.... nope still there! I question it again and they begrudgingly pull up the floor and stick some kind of styrofoam underneath then claim it is good. Ok let's fast forward to this year. It is decided that the house is being sold and I am getting documents in line for the realtor. I call empire and to confirm details about the warranty and to get a claim in since the floor has PEELED UP (BTW this is their Dynasty Engineered Hardwood Flooring). I am told that their warranty is not "to the house" and could not be transferred. This was the huge selling point for me when I got the floor. Upset already I move forward with warranty claim since that needs to get resolved. I start the claim process over 2 months ago. Wait 2-3 weeks for an Empire Inspector to come out. Then 2-3 weeks for the results of that which they state "Looks like a Product Issue". 1-2 weeks later I get a call out of the blue from a 3rd party inspection. He was told that an inspection was needed by Empire Today before anything else could be completed. So 2 more weeks go by before he can come out. (On a side note he was the nicest man and probably the only person I spoke to about this that I actually respected.) I am told it will be another 2-3 weeks before I hear back about the inspection results. Get the call about the inspection results and I am told that nothing will be done in regards to the warranty since there is water damage to the floors and it is a site issue. I understand this by the doors and such. HOWEVER, in the middle of our living room!?! Especially since we take our shoes off at the doors! After talking with the representative more I am told that they can replace the floor "Special and Reduced Price". WHY!?! So that I can have another sub-par contractor come out and replace the floors. Then pay them more money! NOT HAPPENING! Frankly put, this company is a joke. They don't take responsibility for the promises their sales representatives make, contract out work with no oversight or quality control, and then give the run around when trying to have a peeling floor replaced. They strive on pressuring customers to put a down payment to lock them in the installation, they make up the breakdown of the cost, and lie about their products. The sales guy was quick and efficient. We scheduled installation for Thursday September 2. Prepared our home for a week as they requested. They were a no call, no show. I talked to a customer service supervisor after jumping through hoops on sitting on hold for a long time. I explained to him what was going on and he told me no one calling me was unacceptable. He placed me on hold to contact the installer, then he told me the installer told him he was told by his manager not to do the job because something was wrong with the color of the carpet. But he didn't get the managers name nor did he still have the installer on the phone, which is convenient. I told him there was no problem with the carpet and no one ever told us anything. Other than a confirmation call a week prior to the installation, we hadn't heard from anyone. He gave me a local customer service number, but of course, it was later in the evening and he said no one would be there, convenient again. My husband had called earlier in the day and all they could tell him was we were on the books for 8:00-6:00, if there was something wrong with the carpet, why would we still be on the books? I text my salesman who was the only one who seemed to care and told me to contact his boss and he would also reach out to him. No one responded or helped us that night. The next day, my husband reached out to customer service who explained there were notes in the system and they had 24 hrs to call us back from when we first made contact, which was 5:45pm. Someone finally called my husband and told him the carpet wasn't on the truck. What???? If that is the case, fine, but why would no one call us and why would the installer say something was wrong with the color and why would we still be on the books for installation? So many excuses!! She said they get a truck at 5:30am today (Saturday September 4) and she would call him at 7:00am. If our carpet was on the truck, we would be their first install of the day. If not, due to the holiday, the next truck wouldn't be here til Wednesday September 8. It is 8:43am and no one has called and no one has shown up. How do you run a business this way???? I gave them a down payment of over a $1000.00 and they better return it to me. I will be going somewhere else that actually wants my business and can communicate. We only chose them because they move the furniture but we prepared so much for them to get here that there isn't much more furniture to move and we can do it and have someone else install. read more

Did not show with in the two-hour. I called the company they got back with me in about 20 minutes telling me the tech was 20 minutes away. He went through his big spill. Show me about 7th floor samples none of which I was crazy about and quoted me $10,000. I have to be crazy insane in love with something before I am go spending $10,000. I told him I wanted to look around. He said he had to call his boss. He did that in front of me in my home. Between him and his boss they tried to get me to sign some kind of a contract and I could cancel within like 3 days. They hope that you're going to forget and not cancel and then you will be tied into the contract. I told them that I did not feel like this was necessary that I needed to keep looking and find more floor samples to see if there was something else out there that I was a lot more crazy about than what they had brought to my home. They kept trying to get me to do this contract thing 3-day thing and I kept refusing. All the way they keep telling me that they they don't want to pressure me into anything. Finally I had to tell them that I am a visiting nurse which is true. I had to get going as I had some diabetics waiting on insulin. Which was true. Finally I got the guy out of my house. I felt like I had let some of those weird church people in that you can't get to leave your home. Never never again. My experience with Empire Today Flooring has been terrible. Been dealing with them over a month and still have no flooring. The initial estimate went well. Sales rep came over and we choose a laminate plank flooring. We put down a down payment of 780$. We ripped up all the old carpet and moved all the furniture ourselves. The installers came by, and said they could not install because our concrete subfloor was to moist. And because we had pets, they basically told us if we had laminate it would be ruined in a week so they told us to get vinyl. So we called empire back and told then we wanted to switch product. The sales rep came back out and we picked or new vinyl for and the install date of the next Friday. He confirmed the new install date with his manager over the phone and left. Well the day of the install, no one came. We called and they said the paper work was never filed. They said to allow 24 business hours to file and we would receive a call back to set up another install date. No one called. We received a text and email after a week saying to "Reply back C to confirm your LAMINATE installation on date provided" we never agreed on a date and we had already told them we weren't going with laminate anymore we were going with vinyl. Called them back again, and they said we needed to contact the manager of the sales rep. We couldn't get ahold him at that time so they said he'd call back at his convenience. He didn't, we called again with the same response. They said give it another 24 business hours for another work request order and we'd get a call back. We told them if we didn't get a call within that period we were canceling. We still have not received a call. Calling Monday to demand a refund and going with a different company. When the salesman came to our house he pulled into my driveway smoking a joint. He came in stinking of weed and insulted my wife not once, but twice. The manager was immediately notified and we were told we were "going to get a great deal on flooring." He came the next day and wouldn't help us. When I explained the situation, the manager in not so many words, said he didn't believe me. I told him it was possible there was asbestos but didn't know for sure; I'm no expert. If I could give them less than a star I would. The sales process actually went quite smoothly. We scheduled install. We moved ALL of our furniture, as instructed which rendered all of our bedrooms and garage useless. My husband waited at home from 8-3 with not so much as a word, at which time he tried to call. They said that the installer was backed up and wouldn't be making and since they told us, we would have to reschedule which was not acceptable as they wanted us to wait, with our house out of sorts for another week. He did the master bedroom in 1 hour! Finished with all 3 bedrooms & helped me put some furniture back, cleaned up & left all within 3 hours! Very friendly, communicative & professional. Buyer beware! This company is a scam and absolutely horrible to deal with. Our carpet install was completed by two men, one who brought his child along to help. I let Empire know about that but they didn't feel it needed to be addressed. Now we have had our carpet for a year and a half and it has matted in strange areas...not high traffic areas such as the living room or hallway. We have had our carpets professionally cleaned as they say you must to maintain your warranty. Our sales rep had told us if our carpet did mat, they will fix it but that since we bought a higher grade carpet, it wouldn't happen. Having carpet installed currently. Install was supposed to be between 8 am and 6. Phone rang at 7:30 am, but no one there, no recording. I called the number back and got a main dispatch so said it should have been a recording telling me what time they were coming. He confirmed they would be there in 15 min. I told him I would be there at 8am, since that was the earliest they said they would start and he said he'd let them know. At 7:50am the installers were calling my phone asking where I was. I arrived at 7:55. Then the installers rang the doorbell, came in and never even said hello or introduced themselves. We ate over a windchill advisory and I've found my front door wide open no less than 7 times. I explained I have pets that can't go outside, yet they keep leaving the door open. I'm missing a cat now. Extremely frustrated by this crews lack of respect for my home. The carpet isn't installed yet, but I'm not feeling good about it. read more

We had carpet installed in an in-law quarter with the hopes of remodeling and putting a wall up at a future date. With that knowledge, the installers cut out a path for a hallway from the old carpet and laid the new carpet. When we decided to put the wall up for the reno, we realized they had cut the carpet at an angle and it is 3 inches out of level. When we brought it to Empire's attention, they said they would offer me a deal but could not fix their mistake due to the time lapse. First of all, I would have never thought a company as well known as Empire would be unable to cut a straight level line. Second, to offer me a "deal" on a service I already paid for is absurd. Lastly, for a company as big as Empire to take no pride in their work or customer service is appauling. **We called 8 times, spoke with installers, supervisors and more supervisors to get some one to our house to at least look at the carpet. When they finally came...they offered me a "deal". I could NOT make them acknowledge their mistake. read more
