My boyfriend had the buffalo chicken pizza and a "delicious" IPA made by them...he was able to but just one beer which was a great option. The service when we arrived was wonderful. All the staff were friendly and attentive. They had live music playing also which is another bonus fyi. Well done and thank you for making our brief stay in Skowhegan even more pleasant after a long day of travel.

I was encouraged by my son to try the Newport Diner. I love diners for their speed and for the people who dine there, and the staff. So we went. I almost passed it, because from the outside it looks nothing like I was expecting. It looks like a house and blends in with neighboring homes. Love that. Inside the decor is simple. Comfy. The staff was responsive, alert, efficient, and VERY friendly. The food was amazing. Portions were generous. The coffee was great. Goodfellas has what you might call an open plan: one large room rather than several rooms or sections divided by a bar or whatever. It works. They have one restroom in the corner to the left as you walk in. (When you drive 45 minutes to get to a place, you tend to learn where the restrooms are). Our server was friendly and efficient. The menu is many pages and varied, though some are only for meals after 4:00, and the menu is divided into sections so you don't get lost in your search. The drinks aren't listed, but they have the standard sodas, raspberry iced tea and of course coffee, which our friend said was quite strong. (How I like it, but not so much her. The server brought hot water at her request to water it down a bit to her own taste.) No alcohol license yet, but that was not an issue for any of us. I ordered the Reuben. I often try one when I eat at a new place, because when we lived in the Portland area there was a deli there that served the best Reuben's, hands down, and since they closed down I have never found one as good. But I gotta say, the Goodfellas Reuben came very close, and so it may become the first place in years where I order one for a second time. (In retrospect I realize it was practically the only time I have gotten a Reuben without a half-sour pickle coming with it. No problem -- just an oddity.) The French fries are also great, a bit crispy on the outside and tender inside. And hot, which isn't as much a given in restaurants as you might think. One of our companions ordered a veggie wrap and the other the shrimp cocktail and they enjoyed them. Though the latter is an appetizer, so she found she wanted a small order of soup to augment it. The soup was larger than you'd expect for a cup, and it turns out it is listed in the menu as a small bowl. Our server said the large bowl really is large, so if we ever order it, I will ask for two spoons! My wife and I brought half or more of our burger/Reuben home for a second meal, but the French fries, like I said, were great, so they most of them didn't make the trip home. Breakfast wasn't on this menu, but they offer it, so I would like to see what they offer sometime, if I can pull myself away from the Reuben!

The amount of grease (yes grease not pepper juice as owner suggested ) was disgusting! The soaked sub roll fell apart with first bite because it was so soggy & it had just come from kitchen. Under roll u could see an oil spill, yes was blamed on "vegetable juices" ironically the said vegetables, onions & peppers were barely warmed on grill not what could be considered cooked at all to be juicy . I won't go into the FF's, as they sealed the deal on worst meal out in a long time!! Complete disappointment & waste of money for certai. The owner making excuses for such crap food being served tells me they won't be opened in town for long! We have 2 other restaurants that have neverrrr disappointed & will continue to be my go to for meals. It's clean, bright because it's new, & lots of tables, that's not enough to keep customers coming back!
