The bread was somewhat dry (especially the crust), the chicken salad itself was also dry as well. It was not flavorful, either. My husband's club sandwich had too much mayonnaise on it, so he ended up donating some of his mayo to my dry sandwich cause. (I didn't try his sandwich, but since his was toasted, he didn't experience the same dry bread issues). The deli seating area and bathroom was clean, and the staff were friendly and the service was fast. I probably would give this another try someday if we needed to have lunch on the way up again, and I'd get something entirely different to compare.

After that wave another Sunami came through, two athletic teams from UMFC arrived. First their baseball team then 10 minutes later their soccer team arrived. Talk about popular. The fries came first, which we appreciated, and were perfect, hot, crisp outside and tender inside. We went up front to pay, but the woman had a phone call with someone who wanted the menu explained to them in some detail. My wife went to the car to sit down and wait. The woman was patient with the guy, so I guess special orders don't upset them. She figured a way to give the guy what he wanted and save him $20. We also recently decided on a rare sit down meal here. We fancied some seafood for a change of pace and rather than driving a dozen or more miles away to frequent our favorite seafood restaurant, we opted to eat locally. And besides, we had tried Lakeshore's clams and scallops when we first moved here and liked them. So one of us ordered the scallop platter and the other clams (full-bellied of course). The servings were slightly smaller than at our favorite place, but also a bit less expensive, so it is a choice whether you would rather take some home for a second meal or save a few dollars in the short term. As we remembered, the food was good, so no complaints. If I push the issue, I have to say the meal didn't quite live up to the other restaurant, but that is why we have fave places, isn't it? It is only logical to occasionally test to see if others are ready to take over top spot! But there have a varied menu. Often, there is one person who is doing a large percentage of the work and really trying with their customer service. This person is usually wearing a Burger King cap and dunkin tshirt. I think all the businesses are owned by the same entity. If they do actually have what you are looking for, it will take a long time receive it. I have a rule that we can only stop if there are no appointments after (hence always doing it on the way home). But the food is amazing and it has to be for me to continue to stop there even when it's poorly managed and a long wait. I love the south Portland location!
