There is a paved path so you can run, walk or bike ride without the fear of dealing with traffic. When traveling West to East, there's a decline and we always feel the incline when traveling back from a 3-4 mile run. This is a nice start to a long run because it leads eastward to the northbound trail that runs along the I-95, the trails that lead to City Island, Pelham Bay Park and Orchard Beach and the Northbound trail that heads along Shore Road to New Rochelle. There are a number of paths to take that will give you elevation, varying terrain and interesting views. Making the transition from the parkway to the biking/running trails can be a bit dangerous when traversing the roads. Drivers tend to speed down and don't really yield to pedestrians; they are pretty aggressive in this area. You only have about three before you have a continuous path but you must stay vigilant and be aware of your surroundings.

The other main structure is the AIDS Memorial. It's dedicated to the victims of the disease. The park was the site of the hospital that played an important part in fighting and learning about it. A few parts of the hospital are still here. The oldest part was turned into apartments, while a newer part is a non emergency care location. If you're around Washington Square Park you should also make your way here. It's a nice park but it's also very meaningful. There's a few cafes and restaurants close to here too.

Dedicated to a heroic police officer, Lt Joseph Petrosino, you can read his story and exploits in the name of justice many years ago on the plaque and newspaper article reprint on the main entrance columns. But it turns out there's a duplicate listing under the name River-to-Ridge. Even my fans might not want another PATH train rant, so I'm glad I found one more thing to review. Central Park and Prospect Park are meticulously crafted, but Inwood Hill Park includes a legit old-growth forest. Visually, these massive trees provide an almost startling wilderness appearance, even if the highway noises break the spell. The non-forest area still offers a decent amount of colorful-in-October trees and great Harlem River/Spuyten Duyvil reviews. And if you're one of those Yelp fanatics who reviews Metro-North, you can get some scenic train videos from the park.

We went to Citarella, got a bunch of ingredients to make our own charcuterie board, and just had a DAY. I'm at the age now where my parents are more friends than parents, which is a beautiful phase of life. We dug into our build-your-own charcuterie and people watched, took naps, and just enjoyed each other's company. Central park never ceases to amaze me, as it provides such a breath of fresh air right smack in the middle of the busiest city in the world. So grateful for Nanc and Steve.
