Dak's the way I like it

Not to be confused with Central Pork Wets, which is where pigs pee themselves. Basically the main street of the Upper West Side even though some of the other streets, such as Amsterdam, have a lot more stuff on them. This is where all the most expensive apartment buildings on this side of Manhattan overlook the beautiful expansive Central Park. John Lennon lived and died here of course, as do many many other rich and famous people. There could be better food options, especially street, budget and ethnic food, but then the people in these parts would probably rather pay through the nose for fine dining.

A good street for sightseeing. It runs much of the Upper West Side. There's always so many tourists. It's hard to find anyone who actually lives on this street. When you consider who much it costs to live here, most people probably aren't living there. It has some large apartments. One of these is the Dakota, where John Lennon and other celebrities have lived. It's just one of many big apartment buildings. Other buildings include the museums. The American Museum of Natural History is located at about 79th. It's good for a stroll through a very nice area. It attracts lots of tourists. Stay away from the rip off street vendors.

I love Central Park West. I'll be there next week on my way to an appointment on the West Side. I used to live on the West Side many moons ago. I'm still fond of my old hang outs. The West side of the park is beautiful. To me it feels a little more historic than the East Side. There's a higher end dignity to the space. I could be imagining it. Walk around the park East and West and form your own opinion. No matter how you divide it up Central Park is a miracle to me! Glad someone had the forethought to create this beautiful place for me to play!

    Saturday chill day!

Always LOVED coming to Central Park! First off- this park is HUGE as you may have already read. Also- it is the perfect place for people watching (don't judge me lol). It's always a wide variety people that come here from all cultural backgrounds and it's always something going on here in the spring/summer wether it's a "Summer SoundStage" concert or just people dancing on the lawn or reading a book (like me!). It's always great energy here, nice breeze and on a sunny day you can't beat it. They have city bikes that you can rent somewhere around here and for a nominal fee, they have the carts that sell water , hotdogs and ice cream. The museum is near here, there is a zoo here in the park and you have the "Great Lawn" where everyone comes to hang out! Overall, it's just a great place to be if you don't feel like doing anything but you wanna feel like you did something.

This review is for Central Park WEST (not for Central Park in general which deserves its own 10 star review...) Convo in Central Park West: Other dog owner opening zip lock bag: May I give your dog a treat? Me: what's in it? Dog owner: chicken, store bought, healthy. Me: but not "Beggin'" right? Dog owner: Are you kidding? I'm from the Upper West Side! But seriously, this area is great, with something to see and do for everyone.

I love coming to Central Park whenever I visit NY. There's so much to look at and paths to walk that I still haven't walked the whole park. The scenery is amazing with all of the trees, art and culture. There's a zoo, carousel and play area for the kids or adults. The lawn area is great for sitting out relaxing. I've always wanted to do a horse & carriage ride as a date. If you live in NY that would be a great date idea if you haven't done it yet.

It's free! Let's enjoy the trees and breathe that fresh air? This is one activity in NY that you can do without paying a single cent. You walk, jog, run, skate and rollerblade, here. The park used to be my favorite place to go to, when I lived in Manhattan. There's a tree right in the middle of the field and I named that tree with a cute name. It's a big park. We try to walk around the park every year between spring and fall. This time I entered the park from Central Park West. Hubby had a business around the area so I got to enjoy the park early morning. It was quiet and peaceful. Due to the spring time, I captured some photos of some trees while the flowers were still blooming. It's beautiful. The entire park is beautiful. Better get there fast! Spring's almost over! You won't be disappointed no matter what season you decide to visit. Highly recommended!

Beautiful park, a little crowded in parts and not quite as picturesque as the movies make it seem, but it was a pleasure to see it in person.

Always pretty, always there for you to walk, run, or bike through. Stay away from the vast majority of street vendors near the Museum of Natural History. Those guys are price gougers. Water is plentiful here through the various fountains. It's easy to fill up your own bottle. Don't spend $3-5 at the vendors when you can get it for free. Come prepared to walk up and down rolling hills and various spots that get direct sun. You can either pop in for lunch and sit on a random bench or venture deeper into the park to take in the sights and sounds. From this side you have direct access to the river and lake boats just past the bridge as you venture inward. Or find yourself immediately at the runners and bikers lanes if you are planning on getting some exercise.

Central Park West is the Avenue that abuts Central Park just to its West. Marathons, walks and Thanksgiving parade utilize this avenue. Many famous landmark and buildings can be found on CPW. From the South up you have Columbus Circle, the Dakota, the San Remo, the New York Historical Society, the Museum of Natural History and on up to Frederic Douglas Circle. Trains stops are 59th (A, C, B, D), 72nd (C,B), 81st (C,B), 86th (C,B), 96th (C,B), 103rd (C,B), 110th (C,B). Many famous people live on CPW. Unless you are a multi-millionaire you will never be able to afford to live there (except above 96th street where it is still a little rough).

In Central Park...waiting in line for Shakespeare In The Park tickets! Hopefully, there will be some remaining tickets!

Central Park West along with the rest of the park and neighboring surroundings are absolutely beautiful!!!! I am currently waiting on the line for tickets to see Shakespeare In The Park's summer season show of "Taming of the Shrew". Everyone else that is waiting has been lovely and it is quite a great day for enjoying the park since today boasts wonderful weather. I have been sitting for about 15 minutes in line and have had the pleasure of seeing passersby walking together, children playing, beautiful horses (policemen are riding on them) and the cutest dogs! All in all it is a fantastic day to be in the park!

So beautiful in the fall when the flowers are in bloom but the tree leaves are starting to fall. I have gone twice in a week. There is a small waterfall that a lot of people take a photo of. The garden is full of colorful flowers. The areas I am talking about are all about 100th street on the east and west side.

He's David Gottfried of Gottfried & Gottfried, by the way. I would recommend him to anyone as the perfect immigration lawyer for my situation and I wish nothing but the best for him. As for the building it's a typical old rustic early 20th century New York stunner, and it seems haunted. "Don't know much about history Don't know much biology…read moreDon't know much about a science book Don't know much about the French I took" (Sam Cooke) I guess you can call me a history nerd. After all, I did major in history and rarely walk past a plaque or memorial or marker that I don't stop to read and more than likely Yelp. So when we were walking out to the street from Grand Central Station's Park Avenue/East 42nd Street entry and saw a wall plaque with the portrait of a familiar woman, I just had to stop and check it out. The portrait was of Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Those of my generation will always remember the traumatic and terribly sad photographs of her from Dallas on November 22, 1963 with her pink pill box hat and her blood splattered pink dress. Twelve years after JFK's assassination the former First lady was engaged in a high stakes 1975 battle to save one of her hometown's iconic landmarks. At issue was a plan to take the wrecking ball to New York City's Grand Station Terminal and demolish it, just as Penn Station has been demolished and rebuilt in 1964. She became outraged when she learned of the plan and led a coalition of New Yorkers and the the Municipal Art Society to stop it. She was the star of a famous press conference from Grand Central and declared "If we don't care about our past we can't have very much hope for our future, we've all heard that it's too late, or that it has to happen, that it's inevitable. But I don't think that's true. Because I think if there is a great effort, even if it's the eleventh hour, then you can succeed and I know that's what we'll do." She also wrote an eloquent letter to NYC 's Mayor Beame and asked him "...is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud moments, until there is nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters..." The plaque was dedicated on June 24, 2014 to mark renovations to the station's main entrance. The renovations honor her legacy with photographs, a video display, and the plaque. The entry itself was renamed "The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Foyer".

I can't say enough about the trip overall but one moment stuck out that pulled at my heart strings. That moment was listening to Renita E. an ambassador of the Empire State Building reflecting upon her working on this very floor on 9/11. It's such a different experience now. 20 years ago, I remember just walking into the lobby, buying a ticket, and heading up to the observation deck. But today? You enter in a different spot, and it's a whole experience. There's a "museum" now and you can spend more time here than just taking in the views from the 86th floor. So why go? It was the world's tallest building when it was completed in 1931 and until the North Tower of the World Trade Center was completed in 1970. (Sad aside: It became NYC's tallest building again after 9/11 until was surpassed by One World Trade Center in 2012.) It features gorgeous art deco architecture and design. It's a cultural icon (one of my favorite parts of the museum experience was a room where you can see dozens of film clips which feature the Empire State Building). The new experience includes exhibits that explain the history, design, and construction of the building. What I learned about its construction was particularly interesting! The construction of the building involved more than 3,500 workers, many of who were Irish and Italian immigrants, and led to an unknown number of deaths of workers (official reports say 5, newspapers at the time reported higher numbers). While I felt this museum addition really added to the experience of visiting the Empire State Building, it has also certainly made visiting the building more expensive. So let's get down to the brass tacks. The base ticket (which gets you entry into everything up to the 86th floor) is $44 for adults, $42 for seniors, and $38 for children (plus a $5 booking charge for each transaction). If you want to visit the 102nd floor for that additional observation deck, it's $79 for adults, $77 for seniors, and $73 for children (plus the booking charge). Then there are ways to spend even more money: a Starbucks Reserve Sunrise ticket ($135 per person); an Express Pass (starting at $85/120 per person); a Premium Experience ($175 per person); and All-Access Tour ($500 per person)... I'm generally not into these expensive view experiences that have popped up all over NYC. But the Empire State Building is special. It's an icon and a view. But I still wasn't willing to pay $80 to visit, so we stuck with the base ticket that gets you access only to the 86th floor observatory. The 86th Floor Observatory contains an enclosed viewing gallery and open-air outdoor viewing area. It's the classic observatory you've seen in movies. And it was certainly enough for me - the museum and the 86th floor observatory! Don't miss/rush through the original main lobby as you leave the experience. Or - if you're not willing to pay for the experience to see the view - stop in at the lobby on its own - it's open to the public (follow the signs for the Starbucks Reserve which is entered through this lobby). The lobby is gorgeous - marble, terrazzo, a scale model of the building... But the highlight is that aluminum relief of the skyscraper as it was originally built (without the antenna). It's incredible. It's an icon for a reason, and it was fun to visit and to see it again after so many years. They've certainly made it more of an experience than it used to be (although now, you can't just pop by for the view on a pretty day, since it's prohibitively expensive for a quick visit), but I had a really good time.
