What an awesome find in Central Park. Nestled near the E66th St entrance, this playground's greatest features are the stone slide & the water play area. The stone slide is tall, long, & perfectly shaded so the little ones don't scorch themselves on their way down. You'll find some kids using pieces of cardboard to get extra speed going but it really is not necessary if the slide is dry. Have you ever read about some of the coolest parks for kids to visit in NYC? Well I'm pretty sure this slide alone puts the Billy Johnson park on the list of cool parks. The water area is not always on but when it is, there is a wading river & a sprinkler. The water area has spots of shade as well but plenty of areas to bask in the sun while you are cooling off. Also found in this enclosed & well maintained park, are a baby swing set and an immense sand play area. Yay!

Great playground because the kids love the stone slide. Most use a piece of cardboard to speed their descent. I think it was designed as a water slide, but I don't know if they turn it on anymore. NB: location on map is wrong. Head towards 5th Ave, just North of the zoo and you'll find it.

Fun little playground with about 5 different sections, highlighted by the big and little slides.

Excellent playground I must say. Very clean, many things to do and it's great for my teenager, school aged, and baby...a win win over here!

A favorite spot for our kids whenever we're in town! The slide can be a little crowded at times, love that the park is fenced in!!

Soooo many bodies!…read more I'm guilty of visiting this playground only on weekends, but "crowded", here, takes a new meaning. Make sure to repeatedly warn your child of paying attention to kids running wild in all directions. Parents seem to be MIA... The playground is quite modern... there's even a half sphere kids can climb on (bare feet, or it won't work). Plenty of swings and climbable options. The place is divided into two areas for children of different ages... both very crowded (did I mention that?). There's a slide kids can use after climbing over big rocks... not the safest option when there are too many kids lining up (and pushing each other) to do it. With little else around to have your child move, this is the forced option. The silver lining is that you're in freaking Union Square, with all sorts of food (or booze... you may need some after a visit to this place) available to you.

The shiny dome climbing structure is amazing, as are the slides. It's always busy here, no matter the season or weather, but to me that just means the kids love it and are having fun. Definitely recommend for locals and visitors alike.

We were on our 4th game of 5 on 5 on this slanted, slippery court with double rims as the Midtown skyline looked over us. We had gone 3-0 and already on wobbly legs but wanted one more to really push ourselves to exhaustion and be WHOOPED. A group of 5 17 year olds showed up and I was lowkey like damn I don't wanna play these little kids for our last game but whatever, they got next. We were going back and forth, and to be fair they were actually pretty good but just too frail to give us any problems. At 5'10 174 lbs, I'm a BIG guard. I'm left handed, but shot a right handed floater fading to my right as I'm trying to get better. If you can hit a weak hand floater on the run you will be tough to stop. I bricked it and this little 17 year old kid goes "that's a TERRIBLE shot" looking at me dead in the eyes. Like bro y'all are losing and you suck why you talking? He woke me up and I started actually trying really hard and lowkey busting their ass... but tbh normally I'm not even that good. It was just one of those days where everything was falling. I hit a 3 and yelled out "THAT'S A LAYUP." I drove hard left, euro stepped and hit a tough finish through 2 and yelled "I"M TOO BIG," while flexing. I switched onto little homie and he took a terrible stepback shot after I turned him 3 times and bricked it. I just whispered to him "I don't even gotta say nothing after that one it speaks for itself" which really pissed him off. Then I hit the game winning 3 and did the Dame wave to him as he walked off the court PISSED as hell. I sat down and then he got the courage to say "STOP TALKING SO MUCH" while he put his hand together to mimic me YAPPING. I almost stood up and said "HOW BOUT U GET WIN?" But then I realized I'm a grown ass man and there is absolutely no reason to be jawing at this little kid on a beautiful Friday in New York City. I just kind of laughed at myself and asked what is wrong with me lol. All in all, these runs were kind of weak and this court is in horrendous condition. The court on the westside highway is still my favorite in the city. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews
