Herald Square is a major shopping area in Midtown, with Macy's. It's located at the intersection of Broadway, Sixth Avenue, and 34th Street. It's named for a famous newspaper. It's a major subway center, and there is also the PATH. You're close to Koreatown.

PARK: An area in NYC named after a now defunct major Newspaper the NEW YORK HERALD (1835-1924) which existed in this area. A MEMORIAL honoring the Newspapers founder JAMES GORDON BENNETT (1795-1872) can be found in the Park. WORTH VISITING.

There is a subway station at this park and when you exit, you are right in the NYC center where you will find Macy's flagship store and if you stand at the corner of the park, you will see the Empire State Building. There are lots of benches in the area. Herald Square is super busy. The park is smaller but it is beautiful because it is lined with Cherry Blossoms. Food options are plentiful here. Shopping scenes everywhere. Korea town is just around the corner.

Herald Square is one of my favorite intersections in Manhattan especially at Christmas time. I love that the city has added tables and chairs now which has kind of happened all over the place. I don't know how long it will be there but there is a huge section on 7th Ave right off the square with see saws. The installation is called Impulse and has something to do with motion and sound.

Give my regards to Broadway remember me to Herald Square. What do I think of: Macy's! If you're a visitor to Manhattan you must see this neighborhood! You're Welcome I'm welcome here! Unlike the Empire State Building. I got kicked out!

I love it! I love when cities shut down entire streets just for pedestrian use. That's exactly what you're getting at Harold square. It's just so invigorating to be on the street as opposed to squashed together on the sidewalk. It makes for some great photos of the Empire State Building as well. Overall, it's a nice stop if you're in the area to just feel immersed by the city. But other than that there's really nothing here.

Enjoying one of the last beautiful days of fall .

One of my all time favorite small parks in NYC. Great place to meet up with friends . Always a few food carts or food trucks nearby , and I've never been bothered about my smoking !! Plenty of tables and chairs , great for people watching .

Herald Square was named for the New York Herald newspaper, GONE! whose building was located on 35th Street from 1893 to the 1920s. Herald Square is mostly associated with Macy's and many are surprised to know it an urban park that is very small. It's a triangle with 6th Ave on one side and cut by Broadway and couldn't be more than 50 to 60 feet wide. But a whose most prominent feature is the elaborate Bennett Clock, named for Herald publisher James Gordon Bennett Jr. That actually still works. This sits up top a monument featuring the Bellringers, dubbed "Guff" and "Stuff," who are owls and a guy with a hammer hitting a large bell that rings every hour. Herald Square is an OK place to take a break from shopping and sightseeing from the mobs that are at 34th and 32nd Street K-Town. You can pull up a chair, enjoy some refreshments from the food kiosk operated by Wafels & Dinges. Aso during the warmer months there used to be the Urbanspace street food market until covid19 hit.

I used to live a few blocks south of Herald Square and I learned to become quite agile on my feet in order to navigate one of the most pedestrian-congested intersections in the United States with each corner averaging over 10,000 people per hour. Yeah, that's right. The daily crowds of Herald Square can break the nerves of the weak-willed but I grew to enjoy it. Until the city cleaned up the area in the late 1990s, Herald Square could never be called an oasis. Once chairs were set up in the newly-constructed park, you could actually sit down in peace without being pushed and shoved by the rats and pigeons who previously had a stranglehold on this intersection. If you have the time, take a look at the clock and moving-bell ringing sculpture originally installed at the New York Herald Building downtown that was demolished in 1921. The clock was installed here at this stone and bronze Memorial to James Gordon Bennett and Son, designed by Antonin Jean Carles, in 1940 and it's a treat to watch the bell ringers, known as 'Stuff' and 'Guff' or 'Gog' and 'Magog', bang the bell with their large hammers. Sure, the frenzy of Herald Square can defeat you but it's also one of the great places to watch the huddled masses of the world go by.

My husband and I walked through the park a couple of times when we stayed in the neighborhood this past weekend. We spent our time walking through the park on one occasion to see the works included in the Larry Bell exhibit. Overall, a fine park for a walk through as a tourist, but probably more of a park for locals to enjoy the outdoors, dog run, and playground. In warmer weather, it's a nice park to sit and enjoy the sunshine or even grab lunch (from the Shake Shack in the park).

We were on our 4th game of 5 on 5 on this slanted, slippery court with double rims as the Midtown skyline looked over us. We had gone 3-0 and already on wobbly legs but wanted one more to really push ourselves to exhaustion and be WHOOPED. A group of 5 17 year olds showed up and I was lowkey like damn I don't wanna play these little kids for our last game but whatever, they got next. We were going back and forth, and to be fair they were actually pretty good but just too frail to give us any problems. At 5'10 174 lbs, I'm a BIG guard. I'm left handed, but shot a right handed floater fading to my right as I'm trying to get better. If you can hit a weak hand floater on the run you will be tough to stop. I bricked it and this little 17 year old kid goes "that's a TERRIBLE shot" looking at me dead in the eyes. Like bro y'all are losing and you suck why you talking? He woke me up and I started actually trying really hard and lowkey busting their ass... but tbh normally I'm not even that good. It was just one of those days where everything was falling. I hit a 3 and yelled out "THAT'S A LAYUP." I drove hard left, euro stepped and hit a tough finish through 2 and yelled "I"M TOO BIG," while flexing. I switched onto little homie and he took a terrible stepback shot after I turned him 3 times and bricked it. I just whispered to him "I don't even gotta say nothing after that one it speaks for itself" which really pissed him off. Then I hit the game winning 3 and did the Dame wave to him as he walked off the court PISSED as hell. I sat down and then he got the courage to say "STOP TALKING SO MUCH" while he put his hand together to mimic me YAPPING. I almost stood up and said "HOW BOUT U GET WIN?" But then I realized I'm a grown ass man and there is absolutely no reason to be jawing at this little kid on a beautiful Friday in New York City. I just kind of laughed at myself and asked what is wrong with me lol. All in all, these runs were kind of weak and this court is in horrendous condition. The court on the westside highway is still my favorite in the city. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

I've taken multiple classes with them over the years and always had issues getting refunds. As an alternative, I was typically able to make up the service with make-up classes at other times. However, in Spring 2024, it changed. I was registered for a Spring 24 class at Riverside/119th. First the class had a delayed start date and then cancelled (with no notice. I emailed to follow up) because they no longer had the permit to operate. Since there was no longer a location that I could go to, I asked for a refund. After promised a refund, it was never issued. Matteo is the only who replies to emails, but he's not a decision maker. If you call the number, no one picks up. After multiple inquiries over many months about my refund status, they simply stopped responding. Matteo strings you along, and makes it seem like something is going to get resolved. However, you try to talk to someone else - the mystery Juan who is supposedly going to issue refund - then it's no response. Ultimately, I'm out over $400 for a class that never happened and it's their fault.

I would say I am a 3.5 level player and this is a better setup for pickleball. These are not full size courts (length or width) and you play with the green children's ball due to the plastic material that the surface is made out of. I came here for one of their HIIT tennis classes on a Thursday night and was surprised at the condition of the place: it was still partially under construction, the courts are not all the same length, the floor is uneven in spots, and it feels like it was haphazardly put together. As for the class, there were 6 of us split between 2 courts, which were each different sizes. The instructors weren't that great and I feel I did not really practice anything beyond trying to hit a ball made for kids. My friend and I could barely hear each other with the music so loud and the acoustics so poorly set up. One instructor didn't know how to volley and kept hitting the balls so high but then commented we weren't hitting the shot properly. The other was nice but when you use the children's tennis balls, there is a different weight and bounce to them that is not the same as a real ball (which we were told bounces too much on this surface). All in all, don't waste your time or money on this location. You also won't get your heart rate up all that much too if you know how to play tennis...unless you're running to get out of the way of balls that bounce from the other court or off the walls/columns/windows.
