My husband and I attended their Halibut Butchery Masterclass today and it was a fantastic experience. For $75 registration, one gets to bring a +1, free aprons and take home the fish at a wholesale price. It's a good way to learn filleting skills. Will probably do the salmon butchery class when it comes up. Jenice Yu and Chef Desiree Lo were very accommodating, answering questions and explaining skills and cooking tips thoroughly. Love it

They launched the seafood congee earlier this year. Maybe the reception was not that great so now there is a promo price till end of 2021. I like the seafood congee a lot. Some see congee as food for the infirm but I see it as comfort food. It is usually easy on the stomach making it easy to digest. The congee has heaps of seafood and apparently they do change depending on availability. I have tried both and small and large but I cannot really tell the difference in size. I think the congee is already cooked and they will heat it up when you order. The crabmeat dips are also very good as are the other seafood. Pretty fresh.

F.I.S.H is a great local fish market in the Market Crossing area. Staff has always been friendly and helpful when I've been there, aiding me in figuring out what's fresh and alternatives if they didn't have exactly what I was looking for. They often have promotions for holiday meal boxes, or their delicious seafood congee. We come a few times a month to get ingredients for things like a fish fry, shellfish pasta, baked fish and ceviche and haven't been disappointed yet in the quality and service. Keep an eye out during the summer for their fresh uni!

Great place to buy seafood in Burnaby. We often come here to get frozen ikura and uni, and currently spot prawns with it being in season! For the first time, we tried some of their to go food today - poke bowl and seafood congee and they were DELICIOUS! The congee is PACKED with seafood and the fish in the poke was so fresh! Highly recommended!

After years of purchasing fresh seafood here, I finally tried the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl and immediately questioned why it took me so long! I ordered the snack size which was Delicious, fresh and extremely filling. The portions of rice, fish and toppings were satisfying and of high quality. The staff were friendly as always! I will definitely visit again next time I am craving Poke!

Ever since covid started I have been trying to find more local vendors to purchase my groceries to support local business and because there are a lot less traffic in these local stores. And Fresh Idea had been one of the local seafood stores I have been returning again and again ever since I discovered this gem! They have the best seafood that is super fresh (some are straight from the ocean on the day of if you are lucky to stop by on a day the seafood are delivered to the store). I have tried their fresh spot prawns, uni pasta sauce, uni, several of their frozen fish and even the poke they make on the spot! And I have never been dissapointed! If you want to order ahead of time they even have online order where you order online and pickup at the store. This place is definitely worth a visit!

Regular size looks small but damn I was fully satisfied

This visit was for their poke bowls (poke bowl section operating just under a year now). Otherwise this place sells fresh fish and fresh seafood sourced each day and I'm telling you, it's fresh! For their poke bowls, you can get 3 sizes: snack, regular, or large. At first looking at the size of the actual bowls, I thought their sizes were small so I was going to get a large but after eating the regular Rainbow Bowl I was well stuffed. So do try the regular size first. The Rainbow Bowl (they have 6 different Bowls to choose from or you can make your own) consists of Wild Salmon, Negitoro (tuna belly), imitation crab (they should get into serving real crab although it still tasted good), seaweed salad, Oshinko (pickled radish), and toasted sesame seeds. They were out of seaweed salad but I substituted it with their *new* Jalapeno salsa omg that shit was so good. My family really enjoyed their bowls too. 5 stars because I enjoyed it so much. I hope they can put real crab into their bowls in the future. I didn't like the lid in the end squishing the presentation of the just prepared food lol. As a side note, the poke bowls are to go. There is no where to sit and eat so plan ahead to bring it to the park or eat it in your car.

F.I.S.H., short for Fresh Ideas Start Here, is a seafood shop located in the Market Crossing area of Burnaby. We've been coming here for years to pick up sushi and fresh seafood like spot prawns or fresh ahi tuna. Recently, they've added a poke bar in the back of the shop where you can make your own poke bowl or pick from one of their suggested combinations. I grabbed their Fancy Poke bowl ($15) which was a pretty fair price given the amount of fresh seafood you get in the bowl. They were out of rice but that was fine for me as I was looking for salad to be used as the base anyways. The bowl had plentiful chunks of sockeye salmon sashimi, octopus, negitoro, and shoyu cured ikura as well as wakame salad and crispy garlic chips. While the seafood doesn't come premarinated, everything turned out pretty good. We've made our own poke with their fresh ahi tuna and it's a great that they have this option available now.

When I went for lunch today I got a large bowl with Ahi Tuna and Negitoro, and I can hardly finish it.

This is a great addition to the South Burnaby area. I like Smart N Save in Richmond as it carries…read moresnacks and stuff from Asia which are not that common. So it is fantastic to find one in this neighborhood. It's at Royal Oak and Rumble, across from the Buy Low store plaza and diagonally across from Chevron. The parking lot is pretty small and tight. There are plenty of street parking on Rumble side. For the grand opening, there is a 12% discount the entire store, excluding the hot food from the cafe. The cafe is just a small area selling hot snacks like Siu mai, fishballs, rice rolls and waffles. I saw many getting the combo (all 3 savory items) and the waffle smelled yummy. It reminded me of the street food in Asia. I found mini prawn rolls and prawn crackers from Indonesia. My favorite snack! There are many other stuff from Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and more. This is a dangerous place as I overheard a young girl telling her mom. Just too many things I want to get. In the end I just bought the mini prawn rolls, lays seaweed flavor chips that comes in a box, white pepper, and curry paste. I'll try the hot food from the cafe next time when I'm not too full.

Yay! Finally the store opened. This replaced the old 7 Eleven store that was here. They have so…read moremuch Asian snacks. They are having 12% discount on grand opening. I picked up a few snacks. This location seems to have less items compared to the Richmond location but hopefully that will change. Prices are reasonable. Note that this location also serves hot food. Unfortunately when I went, it was all sold out.
