Maple Syrup Glazed Candy Salmon Nuggets

Located near the entrance of the Granville Island Public Market--Longliner's display of seafood was interesting, with a large variety. The candied salmon nuggets, while pricey, was a perfect snack to pick up. The balance of sweetness and saltiness was addicting. No samples, no wait on a Sunday at 2PM.

Longliner Seafoods offers a variety of raw, cooked/smoked, and prepackaged seafood, and they're one of the more popular vendors at Granville Public Market. Don't let the mass of customers deter you; the staff fulfills orders quickly. If you'll be traveling with your purchase, they will even package your food with a frozen gel pack that will last 1-2 days. However, keep in mind the gel pack provided is more than 100 ml (3.4 oz) so it'll need to go into checked baggage if flying. I ordered the following: - Smoked and peppered candy salmon bites, $35 per lb or $7.70 per 100g - Double smoked sockeye salmon sticks, $40 per lb or $8.80 per 100 g - Salmon jerky, $45 per lb or $9.90 per 100 g The candy salmon bites were sweet and peppery, but not spicy, and the most moist of the three. The sockeye salmon stick was smokey and flaky, perfect to crumble on top of a simple salad. And the salmon jerky was smokey and salty; it was the driest/chewiest of the three, but still good texture compared to prepackaged/vacuum-sealed jerkies you get from a store. Overall I enjoyed all three and would recommend purchasing a variety of their smoked salmon from the display case so you can experience different flavor profiles and textures. I would pass on their prepackaged salmon because you may find them slightly cheaper elsewhere.

Longliner Seafoods was an energetic market with fresh and smoked local seafood! Workers had a great sense of humor and creativity: Among the rows of gorgeous, fresh fish filets sat a row of Swedish Fish candies. Feeling adventurous, we tried the famous Maple Syrup Glazed Candy Salmon Nuggets: Smelled slightly fishy. Tasted smoky and sweet. This was a unique one-and-done kind of experience.

Super tasty smoked salmon. They are a bit pricy but it was worth it. We tried garlic and honey salmon. I prefer the honey salmon but others in my party are split 50 50.

No clue why this place is only 3.5 stars on Yelp.  I've come here a few times and both the food and service has been nothing but spectacular!  After seeing the candied salmon here, on a YouTube vlog, I bookmarked it for my next visit to Vancouver.  That was about 5 or 6 years ago.  And, I've been there about 5 or 6 times since seeing it (would've been more, if it wasn't for "the 'vid").  There are tons of great options at Granville Market, but this is definitely at the top of my list.  Who would've thought that maple syrup and smoked salmon would go together so perfectly?  Yes, it's a little pricey (about $15 for a small container), but it's not like I'm coming here one a week.  I usually bring a combination of both the small and large containers, back for myself, friends, and family, and they wrap it up for me (an ice pack is even included at no charge), so it's ready for the trip back to the Bay Area. While the candied salmon is my favorite here, I have also tried some of the other smoked salmons and they are also excellent.  I couldn't try their fresh seafood as my trips there are usually fairly short. Make it a stop on your next trip!

Definitely one of the busier joints in the Granville Market and had a big line on Saturday at lunch time. Came back later and no wait. Lots of smoked fish selections and of course a ton of salmon varieties. Solid flavors.

One of the iconic stores on Granville Island, busy as always, I always come here for top rate fresh seafood for special occasions' recipes! Never fail to have the best ingredients and especially seafood, you have to get the best! Staffs here are always helpful and very friendly. This time around I will be making a Crab Meat Salad with Avocados, Cherry Tomatoes with a Creamy Cilantro Dressing... Thanks for being here for all these years!

We loved the smoke fish. The albacore was my favorite. A local recommended the pepper salmon and that was good too.

Would I come back? This is one of the many places that is located in Granville Market. I saw on Pinterest that candied salmon is a must try when you are in Canada. I came here, tried it and it is not for me. For about $7 USD/100 grams, you get about 8 pieces. The candied salmon is basically salmon jerky that has been marinated in maple syrup. It has the taste of the salmon, texture of jerky and a little sweetness from the maple syrup. Your fingers get sticky from eating this so be sure to get some napkins. They have two types that you can choose from. One is in cubes and the other is in strips. This place is good to try but sorry I am not a fan... I wish that they would allow you to buy 1 or 2 pieces because I ended up throwing the rest away. I'm sure they allow you to sample one piece but I think it would be weird to not buy anything after considering the price of the salmon.

This is a great seafood market located inside the amazing Granville Market on Granville Island. I had their Salmon Jerky, Salmon Candy and Maple Salmon while I wanted to eat more of their items there were just so many delicious things to eat in the market I had to unfortunately limit myself. Overall this is definitely a place you want to visit and at a minimum sample the amazing salmon options and if you have room some of the rest of their fantastic seafood.

Two Lemon Pepper Smoked Salmon Fillets (four pieces are usually around 1lb)

Been here twice now and I've gotten their Lemon Pepper Smoked Salmon both times and the salmon from both visits were very high quality and absolutely delicious! If you love salmon you must try those fillets. I've also had their smaller salmon strips which were good but a little tougher than the lemon pepper smoked salmon. And their candied maple salmon bites are a great sweet treat! Just very.. maple-y. Good for splitting as you walk around Granville but if you're looking for a more substantial meal I have to recommend those lemon pepper fillets!

It's located at the north end of First Avenue where it meets the south shore of False Creek, near Granville Island. There's also the fun factor: make it a part of a seawall walk & stop at Granville Island Market along the way for your other dinner fixings.

We've had several of the products from here as recently as two weeks ago when we walked down there for an adventure to pick up some shrimp and some jerked salmon jerky. Yes that's right, Jerked Salmon Jerky. YUM. We ate the entire package in one afternoon. The shrimp comes frozen in a bed of ice and needs some time to thaw. But once it is thawed, it's great quality and wonderful in any seafood dish or simply as part of a shrimp cocktail with seafood sauce. This is how we enjoyed our last batch of shrimp. Also available is salmon and assorted white fish. If you enjoy fish and/or seafood it is worth visiting the docks and getting something local.
