I don't know what is going on with this place. I typically place my orders thru GrubHub then go pick it up. I have recieved several orders that were incomplete. The amount of money spent this is unacceptable. Today (06/22) I ordered a small byo poke bowl with kani salad, ahi tuna, mango, carrot, cucumber, quinoa, wonton crisps, sesame seeds and 2 sauces. I recieved a bowl with NO wonton crips, no mango, the tiniest amount of kani salad, 4 cubes of ahi tuna... I am basically left with a bowl of quinoa, cucumber, carrot & sauce!!! I don't know if this location is telling its very young staff to purposely do this to save money or they are just too busy TALKING to get an order correct. I will not be back... I can take my hard earned dollats elsewhere or make my own bowls were its done to my specifications without continues mistakes while still taking all my money with no apologies. SMH read more

not sure why my previous review seemed to be deleted, but guess i'll write it again. I got the salmon sushi poke bowl with extra avocado. The avocado was rotten and BLACK. Wish the owner would have informed me they didn't have fresh avocados instead of charging me for spoiled food. The salmon was meh, didn't taste the freshest but it was passable. The woman at the front desk also misgendered me, didn't apologize for it, and wasn't very welcoming. As a queer person, especially during pride, this was quite disheartening. Sometimes I want cold food.... Ono Grinds is just the place... I usually get the tofu or spicy tuna; sometimes both :) The poke bowls are delicious! They taste really fresh and healthy, especially if you choose the zucchini noodles as the base. I've also tried their açãi bowls. I typically go somewhere else for an açãi bowl. Not that there is anything wrong with the açai bowls here; maybe it's the mix, or the açai to granola ratio. They are good, not great. But they are great at poke :) P.S. I'm starting off with 5 stars because there is this girl working in there who is absolutely the sweetest person ever. Her service is great, she is super friendly and she didn't mind all the request I gave her ! I didn't catch her name , but she knows who she is ( she has long hair and she there today Wednesday, it's 4pm) She was an absolute pleasure. She even excused herself while she was working with me to pick up the phone, so it wouldn't seem rude. On other days , Every time I go in there , no one greets you, they never have anything, the " machines" are always broken, and it looks like they hide in the back to not even serve people. I go to the gym and I always crave bowls and stuff so I go to them, and end up with nothing. Now to the bowls : they are delicious, it's like bowls with a whole bunch of stuff on it so you can't go wrong. This used to be my favorite place to order a salad for lunch. However, I was extremely disappointed in my most recent order when I noticed that they had not washed the kale. I love the kale Caesar salad and was craving it this day. The last thing I wanted to taste was grit on the leaves of my kale. Unfortunately, I have not been back since. Of course I got a create your own - large, white rice, ahi tuna, house marinated tuna and salmon proteins - Toppings: White Onion and Masago, Sauce - Traditional Hawaiian and Sriracha Aioli, Toppings & Crunch: Scallion, Crab Salad, Fried Onion, Wonton Crisps, Tempura Flakes. The bowl was pretty good but the guy added way too much Sriracha Aioli (I asked for a little bit) and it became a bit overpowering. It was a good amount of food but I wish the Seaweed Salad and Crab Salad wasn't 1.50$ extra. That seems a bit much for not a lot. The fish was pretty fresh and the employees were nice. Went to Poke for the first time today and was apprehensive because I'm not a big fan of raw food. They were kind enough to was give me a sample of the salmon to try ( wasn't a fan of the texture ) so I opted for the teriyaki bowl to be safe. Cute spot. They are located on a busy street in downtown Newark, just a few blocls away from The Prudential Building. Once I entered, the staff greeted me with a big hello. That was nice. I have never had a poke bowl so I was glad that they werent busy when I came, so I could ask questions. The lady who served me was very patient and friendly. She was able to answer all my questions without looking annoyed. On the menu, you can build your own or choose from a selection of already made signature dishes. I decided to go with the signature dish for my first time. I went with the spicy tuna bowl with brown rice. I chose a small, which has two small scoops instead of 3. There was alot of different things in my bowl that I cant remember but what sticked out the most was the jalepano. Newark was in desperate need of a poke spot and I am so glad that Ono Grinds swooped in to save the day. After coming into Ono Grinds twice within about a week, I can definitely say that I am a fan. The decor is very modern and bright and the staff is super friendly. Something cool that Ono Grinds does is that they have a "catch of the day" option. This is basically an alternating protein choice. The one I tried the other day was delicious, it was salmon marinated with habanero (and I'm not sure what else) but it was so good! I find the most satisfying poke bowls to be with white rice and as many colors as you can find. However, if you're trying to be healthier, I would recommend going for the salad or the zucchini noodles with one of the non-marinated fish options and your choice of healthy toppings. Tried Ono at the Midnight Market in Jersey City. While most items at the event were $5, they werr offering a poke cone for $8 that I just had to try. Wow. I get the cone handed to me. Looks stupendously appetizing with "scoops" of spicy tuna and white rice along with scallions and a wasabi drizzle (there is also option for a sriracha drizzle). A few bites in and I am very happy with the investment. The spicy tuna has a legit spice kick and texturally smooth, complimenting the crispier cone very well. The cone is semi sweet, but not over the top so it maintains the feel of a savory dish. The only disappointment was running out of tuna :( The bottom of the cone was just rice, no sauces or tuna. CockRoach in my juice! I loved this place and ate here often until there was a roach in my juice. I had already taken 3 sips of the juice before noticing it was there. I took the cup to the manager and requested a refund. She was afraid and tried to rid the evidence. Please be reconsider eating here I ordered my juice at the same time as the (1) avocado toast before ordering the two smoothies and other juice - because we had not yet decided what else we would order. I say this to say- my juice had sat on the counter for about 5 minutes before the other juice and two smoothies were made and tops placed on them. So, while it is common sense that a juicer would turn a roach into pulp if had been in juicer , one would know that this is not the case; instead it had probably flown or crawled into my cup while it sat. My smoothie and half of toast was my breakfast. The juice top had never been punctured by a straw when I returned back to work making it impossible for a big cockroach as such to get in once leaving your restaurant. read more

I got a large which is a pretty healthy 24oz portion of fresh fruit, blended açaí and in mine, I did a 50/50 mix of açaí and kale. The day before I had a delicious home made chia pudding that was 5$ when purchased with the poke bowl. It was tasty thanks to the pile of fresh blueberries on top. Lastly, I had the house made kombucha. It was peach flavored and a bit milder than the kombucha I get in the bottle. Really cute place with fun, tropical vibes. This place deserves 5 stars for the Acai Bowls themselves. They are AMAZING. The bowls look small, but they're packed with so much fruit and perfectly crunch&sweet granola. I love having honey on my granola. And the manager (it seemed like he was the owner of the shop) suggested I try it with Cookie Butter so he drizzled some on top of my bowl in addition with my honey. Let me tell you, this cookie butter is life changing. It is absolutely delicious and I will never have my bowl without cookie butter ever again. The poke is good too but nothing too amazing compared to other "chipotle" style poke places. What is a bit different though is that they offer some premartinated fish options. They also let you try samples of the fish and sauces before you commit to it in your bowl. But i really wish they had more spicy sauce options - like a spicy shoyu sauce or something. I'm not a big fan of creamy/mayo sauces and spicy mayo is usually the only spicy sauce poke places offer. Their spicy tuna is REALLY good. I usually am not a big fan of spicy tuna because it is usually drenched in spicy mayo with some tempura sprinkled in. Their spicy tuna here doesn't have any of that. It's mashed up tuna with seasoning that makes it spicy and I'd definitely recommend it if you like spicy (it does have a bit of heat to it!) Being from Newark, my first experience trying a poke bowl was in LA and I fell in love and I'm so glad I found this spot in Newark! This is one of the only (if not only) poke places in the area and they don't fail to disappoint. They are super generous with the ingredients and always take the time to make sure that you are satisfied with your order. My go-to order is the California bowl with my base being brown rice. Crazy good!! Poké is my favorite food and it needs to be done just right....this place hits the head on the nail! Not only is their fish amazing (big chunks) but your exposed to so many new and innovative sides-Nitrogen Cold Brew?! House Kombucha?! I decided to stop by this place by a friend whom strongly recommended it. I can assure you I was NOT disappointed. The minute you walk in the Hawaiian theme puts you in some sort of calm spirit and just makes you want to stay there. I was brought back by the level of respect and welcoming vibes spewing out of the happy employees. I was greeted with a smile and asked how I was doing. This is my first poke spot so I didn't know what to expect. I'm allergic to seafood so I was pretty much beating up my allergic anti bodies because the seafood looked so fresh and tasteful. The employee was extremely helpful and presented me with many options and a sense of security that everything was going to be alright. I immediately felt like Bob Marley on a good day. The employee provided me with so many options available to me. So I got a chicken teriyaki poke bowl. I sat down with my fresh strawberry lemonade and began to attack this guilty free meal. Everything was good until after my second piece of chicken. I turned over my third piece of chicken only to notice there was more chicken underneath. My soul went from good to great like Tony the Tiger after a bowl of Frosted Flakes in the morning. The portion sizes are very generous. So the once fearful me to try something so different like a poke bowl was getting excited over the many flavors and fresh taste that was smacking in my face like the smell of fresh laundry out of the dryer. I decided to get a little more daring and tried a pitaya bowl. I thought that I had to pick one or two toppings only, but the nice friendly employee that was just throwing topping after topping said "nope you get all the toppings unless you want me to leave some off just let me know". I felt like I was getting away with murder and was innocent until proven guilty. The bowl was amazing granola crunch after granola crunch and fruit spewing out like if they were running away from me. I came close to closing on a Saturday and the way the team communicated with each other was next to none. They always made sure that everything was clean and sanitized. With every new customer they use new clean gloves. I'm a bit of a germaphobe so it was good to see the cleanliness of this place. Perfect place to get a fix of a perfect poke bowl. They totally lived up to their promise of 'fresh never frozen'. Not only did the poke bowls live up to the standards, the acai bowls are just as amazing as they don't use powder acai mixes and he fruits are fresh and tasty. Their food is aesthetically pleasing as well and my instagram feed looks so colorful and fun. The customer service was just as great and Luis and Daniela (the owners) went above and beyond to answer any questions and check up on our good to see if it was perfect or not.
