The food is quite good. There was just a hint of perhaps stale grease in the French fries, but overall, they along with my burger were fine. The menu is large for this type of establishment. It was a weekday evening and the place was about half full, which is probably a good sign, considering the fact it was a weekday and there are several other restaurant choices within a mile. Bowling leagues for the evening were yet to start and I would guess the place gets busier at that time. Service was quite fast and the staff was friendly. The place was clean. I used the restroom, which is part of the locker room area and it was clean too. It has been a long time since I was in the bowling/game area and I could not help how this place seemed quite modern, and yet somehow interestingly retro too. I like the look. I would return to the restaurant again and might just have to try to bowl a game or two.

We chose the package that had the pizzas. Their pizzas are made at their on site restaurant and are very good. The packages are available on their website. Outs also included a pitcher of soda per lane, plates, cups and napkins, and individual ice cream cups. The length of the party rental is 90 minutes. All of the staff was very helpful. Our pizzas were ready at the requested time and the kids had a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend especially if you have a large sized group.

Food, Fun and a great place to meet up with friends. The Nordic is a nice option for anyone…read morepassing through or looking for a place to unwind after work. They have some food options (fried burgers, fries and other sandwiches, pizza, shakes, chips and popcorn). They also have a game room and bowling that are away from the bar area. Many high school kids hang out after games or on the weekend until about 11pm. Bowling leagues start about September and go through April so call ahead if you would like to bowl to make sure that you can get in. After 9m is cosmic bowling which is something fun for the kids. If you bring your kids, the owners (Dave and Linda) are pretty strict about not allowing them to run through the bar area. So just make sure that they are on the other side or sitting with you in a booth if you eat on the bar side. I think they have a pool league that comes in on Wednesday nights too. The only drawback that I didn't like was the smoke. But with the new laws, that's gotton better. The bathrooms are also a little cold and dirty. Not a huge deal, but nothing fancy.

We didn't bowl but we spent time in the arcade. On a Tuesday night it wasn't busy and there were plenty of games to play. You have to purchase a game card from a machine to play. They do not have money at the game itself. Multiple card denominations are sold and you can pay with cash or card. Some games are for entertainment only (shooting games, driving games and air hockey. Lots of games dispense "tickets" which are recorded on your card. Tickets can be redeemed for prizes. Price for the arcade was a bit steep. Some games are over $1 a play. And once the kids start choosing games where they are trying to win tickets the money goes fast! Overall playing at the arcade was fun. Something to do every once in awhile.

Dennis Purdy of Tama bowled 176 games in less than 24 hours to raise thousands of dollars for the Variety Club of Iowa. In so doing he broke the then world record of 171 games. It was a very fun night for everyone who was there.

About every other time I go bowling at this bowling alley, my bowling lane tv screen (which counts points) messes up, but the people working always get it fixed fairly quickly. Good variety of ball sizes to choose from to bowl with. Food selection is good as well. There is a large selection of traditional bowling alley fried foods (fried cheese curds, fried pickles, fried mozzarella cheese sticks, etc...). This bowling alley is adjacent to the sand volleyball courts, which are fun to watch or participate in as well. The Cedar Rapids Sports/Social Club hosts a lot of summer and winter events (including bowling). At this bowling alley, I usually get a pitcher of Big Grove's Arms Race craft beer to drink with friends as we bowl. The atmosphere is classically sophisticated with an air of the 80s. Great Bowling Alley!
