Bought.a pair of Bontrager road bikers shoes and the shoes had a problem with the screw holes for the clip on. I was driving past Davis and wanted to get a pair to start my bike ride. When the clips didn't screw in properly the response was pretty poor. "Just bring it on in" Jeff said. I was 40 miles away. "Find another Trek shop and you can exchange it." They are excellent place to get a bike! I bought cheap bike at amazon but it was junk, so heavy my daughter couldn't ride it. So I took her to this store and they knew exactly what she needs. They let her test ride in the back alley, and we asked to our stand ams basket, they did it within 20min and ready! She is 5'2", not easy to find small frame but they had in stock. I personally think they should charge a hell of a lot more for their service work, but maybe they balance this with the sales of their bikes and accessories (like a gas station w/ a convenience store analogy?). About 3 years ago I decided to get a very nice road bike. Waaaay different from the mountain bike. At first I hated it as it felt extremely heavy in the front. I emailed them saying I hated my bike-not vulgar but with obvious dissatisfied overtones; nasty in a sense. After a month of riding I fell in love with it. Again, road bikes are way different from mountain bikes and I didn't know this. Felt very bad and thought I would never be serviced again, but no. They were patient with me and didn't hold what I said against me. I will be picking up my employees bike from service today (7/30/2022) and if I am lucky I might pursuade my employee to have me buy her a new bike (good employees are as rare as unicorns). Finished riding 2 miles into downtown and boom I got a front flat tire. Jeff let me borrow his tire levers and I bought an inner tube from their store. I got aired up and was on my way. Boom 3 blocks away from the the store and I got a rear flat now. Ugh!!!!!!!!!! Repeated the process again and got the rear tire done now and on the way home. I started with a bike my friend bought for me at a yard sale for $15. Had it for ten years and never really rode it. Commuting from the Davis Amtrak to my office is 8 minutes. Times 2, I ride 20 minutes max roundtrip. Davis is the bike town. While I'm not in a triathlon, but I'm loving the opportunity to "Save the Air," I am riding. So... I don't have any "check-ins" since I'm bringing my bike in the store all the time and hands are holding my bike. Needed a new saddle for my fat a*s and a bolt to replace the quick release so to keep the bike thieves away. Then, I bought a pannier online, only to find it doesn't fit rack. New rack. Got it installed there. Now I'm into this bike so much $$$ I could have bought a new one. Yet the staff and perhaps owners, have been so nice and helpful. My whip has now become a religion. I just purchased a Trek FX1. A great buying experience. Sales folks worked to help multiple people, everyone was taken care of. I really appreciated the chance to test ride two bikes around Davis. Really was able to get a feel for the bikes. Best bike shop in Davis. Staff is friendly and highly knowledgeable, and they will never try to upsell you a service. On three different occasions, I asked about patching flats, replacing tubes, and aligning wheels. They gave me good advice on what to do and sold me some inexpensive tools and materials. I was able to fix the problems myself. My friend's lock was stuck due to rust, and he was prepared to buy a new one. Instead, the staff removed the rust and added a durable lubricant to his lock, and even refused to charge us. Their service is top quality and they deserve your business. read more

Her back wheel was out of alignment and making it difficult to ride. Loved his knowledge and straight forward passion to help UC Davis students who depend of their bikes as their only mode of transportation. I was burned really bad by a dishonest bike repair shop by in the San Fernando Valley who kept the bike for a week and then demanded more money for the tune up then agreed upon, but never did the work. I'm for anything in Davis so here is a another 5 stars for a great establishment in the middle of Aggie country. After my disappointing trip out to Vacaville and still not being able to locate the FR 7 tool (so that I could remove the cassette and clean out all the gunk/grass/grease/dirt from the sprockets) I decided to run over to this long standing establishment while my friend caught up with someone else on the cell. A small shop that carries predominantly Trek bicycles but nice ones ranging from the standard Amsterdam-like cuties to the cruisers and then mountain bikes. A small selection of bike seats as well as accessories for the racing students on campus. The associate from behind the counter went back to the repair service of the shop and when he came back out, I could foresee the DOOM spelled across his forehead. They did not carry the FR7. But I did find a multi-use Spoke wrench, priced to fit several sizes. I decided to purchase this one at $7.99. Good customer service and if you need repairs, almost every single one of my Aggie friends have taken their bikes here at least once during their collegiate years. read more

I probably should've reviewed this place sooner, seeing as how I got my bike fixed there...last year. But better late than never! My bike, in all of its hot pink glory (my mom wanted me to be girlier), is about 13 years old now. To be honest, I'm surprised it still works, but I've grown to adore it as it's stuck with me through thick and thin. It was on this bike that I tried to learn to jump onto street curbs (with some goading from my dad). I smashed into my neighbor's front yard, but I'm alive. It was also on this bike that I tried jousting with my brother with a staff (he had a fire poker; again, we're still alive). Anyway, the tires were also 12 years old. Last year, my back tire finally decided that its life was over. So I took it over here to get it fixed and they replaced the tubing and the tire. They also dusted off all the cobwebs and stuff for me, which was a really nice touch. (I actually keep them there to deter bike thieves, but there are about 239487 better bikes out there, so they usually don't want mine.) I think it was around $30. Slightlyy pricey (this must be because I miss the Bike Church), but great service and great people. :] read more
