Had an old bike I had to take in, and was able to get a great tune up and even some bike locks at a decent price. Jake was a great help.

I never was taught how to ride a bike, and I was downtown, so I decided I wanted to get myself a bike, which I'd been planning to do for a long time. I came in, and the people at the counter were very helpful, pointing out the area where they held the types of bikes I would need, then helped me fit the bike. After that, he helped me pick some accessories for my bike, (bell, and a kickstand) and told me to come back in 30-45 minutes to put them on, and to help me because the seat was a little too high, but I didn't fit the size down, we came back, and they were almost done. I started learning to ride my bike later that day, it's perfect, definitely an amazing bike for what it's worth. Very nice service with incredible bikes at amazingly low prices. 5/5 stars would come again. read more

Ripped off !! Had to drop off my daughter's bike to UC Davis on Sunday. The spring clip of the front brakes came off. Unfortunately I did not have tools so I took it to Davis cyclery to get it fixed. Initially they gave me $15 estimate to fix the spring. Then they came back and said that the spring was broken and said the whole brake had to be replaced which would $55. I was short of time and had to get it fixed that day. so I asked them to proceed. Meanwhile they gave the old parts back to me. I took the "supposed" broken part "spring" home and was able to put in back in place with a screw driver in 2 mins. Got completely ripped off by Davis Cyclery who charged me to replace a part that did not need to be replaced and I ended going along since I was short of time. Please be careful about getting any repairs done here. !! read more

These guys are great ! Apparently no one in Solano County repairs electric motor scooters , and replacing tires is a nightmare . Luckily I found these guys . Jake answered the phone and politely explained price and time frame . He was just as nice in the store , and called me three hours later to say it was done . i came in yesterday an hour before they closed for a tube replacement and expected to return the next day since it was close to closing, but they had my bike done in 15 minutes!! the older mechanic also took a look at my tire tread and noticed it was pretty worn out but didn't try to upsell me since i only need my bike for a few months. it was $20 for my tube replacement which is super reasonable. will definitely return if i need anything done -- i really appreciate their honesty that they didn't try to upsell me. definitely will be recommending this place and returning for any repairs i need! read more

I gave them my scooter and they said they would help me fix it but all they really did was scam me! They ran what was supposed to be a full diagnostic, told me what was wrong and what I needed to pay for, I agreed because it wasn't too expensive, but now that it's fixed they're saying something else is wrong with it and I need to pay even more. If I knew about the additional issue when they ran the diagnostic, I wouldn't have paid to get the other part fixed and just got a new scooter. ON TOP of that they made me wait a whole month until informing me after I had to call THEM! They wasted my time and my money so if you have bike or scooter issues, consult someone you know not these scammers. read more

Purchased my bike here about three years ago and have been bringing it to Davis Cyclery for tune ups-- this review is waaaaaay over due! The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They answer all my silly questions I have about my bike every time I come. Picked up a KHS mountain bike from them. Nice bike, lower end Shimano components but seemed to ride great. Had it at home for about three weeks now and the first issue was with the rear brake not being bleed out properly. Then the non-drive side crank just fell off while riding. After close inspection of the bottom bracket I noticed it was not seated properly so I tried removing the bottom bracket only to find it completely stripped out. The bigger issue is the frame being stripped. Need to take it in for a clean up and resurface. Simply put this is poor build quality. I am not sure who places the bottom brackets in the bikes either the shop or the manufacturer. Either way I am bummed. read more

Great bike store. I bought a bike for my son there and a few years later the fork broke, but it was clearly a manufacture's defect. Davis Cyclery stood behind their sale even though the manufacture was trying to get out of it claiming there was only a year warranty. They took the bike, fixed it, and dealt with the manufacture. Five Stars for Davis Cyclery! I very appreciate very much that they open at 9:30 a.m. M-Sat. Especially in the summer, this is so helpful before it gets hot. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, even offering their customers water on a hot day. I brought my bike in at 9:30 a.m. this week, without an appointment, because my back tire had a slow leak. They worked on my bike right away, and not only did they change the tube, they let me know that the front tire valve stem was wearing out, so they replaced that tube also. Very affordable prices, especially compared to the other Davis bike stores. This is my favorite bike shop in Davis and I've lived here since 1991. read more

A great small business to support during the pandemic. A very clean shop with great selection located next to Zia's. The owner, Nelson, has a low pressure sales approach. I was able to try out all the bikes I wanted with ease. He was knowledgeable about his product and gave tips throughout. I'm a casual biker, and there were about 4 bikes or so I tried out between 300-429. Prices were clearly labeled (which isn't the case at one of the other shops I visited in town). I also liked that after the purchase, he checked out the bike throughly to make sure everything was in order. read more

My daughter took up 2 bikes to UDC. The campus may seems flat, but there are some low grade hills. Davis Cyclery was fantastic in getting the bike we wanted. What I want to rave about is this....we are 6 hours away and cannot possibly help her in a timely manner. Her 2 friends that had flat tires and had to wait a week to get their tires fixed at some A local shop in Davis. When she got a flat tire a year after purchase, they fixed her tire in an hour on that same day in between her classes. If you are sending your kid to school, and aren't lucky enough to be local to help them, I highly recommend this bike shop. Any time she has needed anything from a lock to fixing a tire, their customer service is real!!!!! Her bike is like her car so it needs to be fixed ASAP!!! Just picked up a new Zycle Fixed gear bike today and couldn't be happier. Nelson was excellent at helping me pick the right one to buy. He showed me a few models and explained the differences between them all. The bike was only $250 in the store and when I checked on the ZF bike website they were being sold for $325. I saved $75 by going in store. He added a nice gel seat on it too cause I like to be comfortable while riding ($35). Nelson was very knowledgeable about cycles and he's pretty funny too. Upon arrival I asked for a tune up on a new bike I purchased online and was told that my bike parts were terrible and the bike wasn't very good. Then when scheduling a pick up I was clear about my schedule and because I could not pick it up over the weekend I was told that they were going to SELL MY BIKE WITHOUT MY CONSENT. Even after explaining I was unavailable over the weekend to pick it up and upon arrival I was told that the schedule conflict would be no issue. Not cool... Do not buy a bike here . I bought a bike here , Brought back for wheel replacement twice and still doesn't shift . They didn't ask me how the bike has been , horrible service . Had to pay $160 for the wheel , they gave us the wrong one. (They have the exact bike I bought in the store ) still gave me wrong part . They want me to buy another wheel for $160 more , So I bring it back again they make me pay again more money $40 for the new wheel . The guy installs it and now the bike won't shift half of the gears ..... did they even care to make the bike work again ? Horrible service they didn't care to make it right .... I brought my bike in for a $95 tune up. Nelson calls me and says the derailleur is bent, the rear wheel will need replacing, and the frame is bent. I have an aluminum frame so trying to bend it back will be a bad idea. After replacing the derailleur, the rear wheel and $350 later I am able to take my bike home and it will not shift into first gear and 8th gear keeps skipping. Nelson said this is a result of the frame being bent. I took my bike to Frame Up in Pleasant Hill for a second opinion. Within 5 minutes the employee said they installed a mountain bike derailleur on my road bike. The shifter is for a road bike and the derailleur is for a mountain bike, causing it to improperly shift. Frame up installs the proper derailleur and my bike is operating perfectly. The other 1 star review sounds like we had a similar experience. I will never go to this shop again. Frame Up is my new shop, it is worth the drive and price. read more

Trust me, do not come here for any bike purchase, repair, or upgrade, I bent one wheel because I crushed, I bring my bike over, they want 150 $ only for the frame replacement and their labor fee, and they said it will take about 3-5 days for the repair. HOWEVER, when I go to the Free Wheeler which is just in the counter of the same street, they only ask for 75$ and it will get fixed in the early next morning. The attitude from the owner and the stall of this bike shop is terrible. Trust me just don't come here for anything In addition, they sold me a lock for 100$ which I found it is only sold for 40$ on Amazon! read more

This place is absolutely amazing! It's the kind of place I would recommend to friends and family without having to think twice. I came here to install my bike clips and purchase some cycling shoes. The person who helped me today patiently described the various pedal options and even gave me a mini crash course on how to quickly unclip to avoid falls (although I suspect some things are just unavoidable haha). I came here to get my bike's wheel fixed. They wouldn't get me an exact estimate of how much the repair is. They kept going on about how they need to order the wheels which will be about 200-500$ but this dont include labor. They gaslighted me into getting it done when I was hesitant to getting it done and it felt very forceful. They even called me for 20mins with inly them talking trying to convince me. I went to freewheeler i stead and within 5 mins of being there they gave me an exact estimate for everything which ended up as 140$. read more

Turns out, it was only the chain popping off. The guy didn't even charge me for getting it fixed and he didn't con me into getting anything else "checked". My daughter needed brakes on her bike, was quoted $80.00 then she brought it in and was told it would be a week, it was 2 days and was told after the fact , at pick up, it was $100.00 . she gets across town and the brakes are not working and are so tight the wheels will hardly move then they stop moving all together, she calls her brother from out of town to come and get her and the bike.
