I had a quite unpleasant experience with this place. I repaired my bike here and was charged 71.19 dollars altogether for labor and a new bike derailleur. I got a call on Dec. 5th from the bike barn, saying that my bike was ready. I paid my money and took my bike away on Dec. 6th, 2019. Then I discovered that the bike made loud noise and was not working properly. I wanted to take it back for check but Bike Barn was closed during the winter break. Urgently needing to use my bike to get around in Davis, I managed to fix it at another bike shop and was told that the new derailleur they sold to me was not compatible with my bike. When I went back to the Bike Barn asking for a refund, I was told that it was not possible because I did not keep my receipt. After I insisted and I managed to find the bank record that showed that I was charged by them for the repair and the new part, and they also found my record in their card deck, I was refunded 58.32 dollars for everything, which was fair enough to me. But overall the experience is less than satisfying, and I found the staff whom I talked to was able to stick to rules very well but seemed to be not very understanding of my specific situation. While I understand the bike barn's policy and acknowledge my own negligence in the whole process, my lesson from this is for everyone to keep their receipt till they are sure that their bike is working.

Great service. Price is a bit high, so wouldn't recommend any purchases here unless it is urgent. Other repair shops at a better price.

Gets the job done. Really bad attitudes by 2/3 employees I've encountered. Work on customer service.

I came here to have the derailleur adjusted because the chain on a new bike I bought for my son keeps coming off when shifting. One quick look the guy (can't remember his name, but is a Filipino guy) at the shop noticed the chain was too long and needed to be cut. I believe that was $5 to do and then the to adjust the derailleur, it was going to cost $30 ($35 total). He said to leave the bike there and he will call later when it is completed. I decided to go grab some lunch while I waited for the bike to be completed. He called a couple hours later and said the bike was done and ready to be picked up. When I arrived he said the chain was bent in a spot, so those were the links he removed. He also said one of the adjustments on the derailleur was broken as the derailleur that came with the bike was cheap. He also made a few other adjustment to the bike for free which was greatly appreciated. If you need to purchase a used bike, need some adjustments on your bike or need to fix/replace any parts, Green Bicycle Depot is a great place for budget price.

Had a double flat from thorns and went to the shop Saturday to get the tubes replaced. On Sunday,…read morethey called saying both tires needed to be replaced too, so I said okay. Monday, they called saying it was ready. I go to pick it up, walk the bike out of the store, get on to ride home, and the back tire is completely flat. I go back inside, show them, they fix it, and I ride home. I don't touch the bike again until Thursday. I go to bike to class and now the front tire is completely flat too. Mind you, the only riding I had done since getting the bike back was about 2 miles from the shop to my house. I had to miss class and walk the bike 2 miles back to the shop, where they told me they would charge me to fix it. They took out the inner tube and found a hole near the valve, which they blamed on "sharp" tape on the inner rim. The problem with that explanation is that the exact same tape was already there with my old inner tubes, and those tubes worked perfectly fine until I literally rode through thorns. The thorns are why I needed new tubes in the first place. Then, after they installed their new tubes, one was already flat when I picked the bike up and the other went flat after only about 2 miles of riding. So I paid $96 for new tires and tubes, received the bike with a completely flat back tire, then had the front tire fail after essentially no use, and they still had the audacity to charge me again for the fix, so I left and went to a different place. Do not go here. Cheap bike parts that don't even do the bare minimum, just enough to cause more problems so you have to come back and spend more money. Go to. Any. Other. Store.
