I called and told the guy my situation - had a flat, tried to fix on my own by replacing tube and after one ride it was flat again. He told me to bring it in and he'd have it fixed in 10 min if I came right then. I arrived in about 25 min (it took a while for me to find it). It is in between an Indian market and a very busy auto repair shop. Parking can be tricky...I first parked on the corner behind the auto repair shop and walked up to make sure I was going to the right spot. It's a little unmarked building...The guy came out and he told me to pull up to a parking spot right near the front door (which I missed when I circled the block). He told me it would be $16 cash to fix right off the bat. He found that a thorn had punctured the tube so just had to replace it again. He told me to just check after each ride. It was quick and done within 10 minutes as he said. He was very helpful. Unfortunately didn't get his name, but I would definitely return again. Thank you so much!

Thumbs up for my new bike and trailer!

These guys are very knowledgeable and helpful. I went in with an issue, and they did their best to help me and offer me different solutions to my issue. I ended up buying a second bike from them, and they gave me a good deal. They were funny to talk to, and made it a pleasant experience. Highly recommend!

Ask the Community - West Capitol Cyclery

Hello! I would like to buy a bike and helmet for my 6 year old for Christmas. Is there a website I can shop on and then pick up the items in person? Thanks.

The kids' bikes are in the back right corner. Everything looks really nice and seems to be good quality. The service was excellent. All my questions were answered and they had my cruiser ready within 30 minutes. The parking lot is free to park in. The shop is wheelchair accessible. They have stairs and a ramp at the entrance, along with automatic doors. You can walk around the city while you're waiting for your bike. There's several cafes and restaurants within 5-10 minute walking distance. You could visit the State Capitol. Forewarning: You're going to pay, at minimum, $600 for an adult bike. Even a kid's bike starts at $350... If you need extra parts and accessories, I would recommend you buy them off of Amazon or somewhere cheaper. To give you an example: a tire pump here is over $100.

My hubby and I are not experienced or race at all but we still got a great deal on a base line bicycle which is perfect for our daily exercise ride. The employees were knowledgable and very helpful. I will preface this by stating that my review is not based on the service this shop offers, as I…read morewas not a customer of this shop & thus, cannot speak to that aspect. Just to be clear - so no one is misinformed on my rating. With that being said, myself, along with 2 friends & our 6 young children attended the grand opening of the shave ice place a few doors down. We waited in 90°+ weather for nearly 3 hours from the point we got in line to checkout. When we were around the corner, there was more of a breeze and lots of trees, so we were able to keep cool easier. But once we rounded the corner, an hour & a half in, the sun was beating down on us all & the breeze disappeared. Everyone in line had moved closest to the building to get as much shade as possible (which also cleared the general walkway). People continued going in & out of businesses that we were lined up against. No one else complained... But the owner (or a worker, I don't know - seemed like an owner) came out multiple times telling everyone to move away from his store, which meant people, including the children in line (it's shave ice - there were lots of kids) were left standing in the blazing sun. After witnessing this guy come out 3 times previously (about every 15 minutes, as the line moved & a new group of people would push back over into the shade again), he came out again. The lady in front of us finally spoke up, saying something along the lines of: "It's hot out here & we're in the sun. Have some compassion. Your door isn't blocked & if people come to it, we'll move for them." His response was something like: "That's not my problem. You need to consider the business too." Again, neither are the exact words as I don't recall exactly what was said other than she expressed the sun & us moving if someone walks in/out & his response coming across as dismissive of our situation (especially for the kids). As a bike shop, I'm sure the majority of customers already know where he's located. It's not like a cafe (which we were also standing in front of, got quite a lot of business, & had zero complaints) where someone may be strolling & decide to go in only if it's seen. In that case, I could be more understanding of the owner feeling like we're blocking the visibility of the cafe from passersby & therefore affecting the amount of customers they receive. What bothered me was the apparent lack of concern for people standing in extreme heat, including children. There was no other option for the line. It was either standing in full sun & in the general walkway or scooting to the side & getting some shade, but closer to the building & the business's doors. No one entered or exited this particular business while we were around that area waiting in line, so I can't speak to how that interaction went down, but I'd imagine that most people would be understanding of why people were standing there & everyone in line would be more than willing to part ways for a customer (& their bike) & I'm sure even hold the door to help them get in. It's just simple human kindness & consideration. I gave 3 stars (middle), as I don't want to severely affect the shop's overall reviews, but I definitely wouldn't bring my bikes here, based on the attitude of that guy alone. Edited: The owner, Kevin, did send me a private message about this review. He disputed my account & asked that I remove the review. As this was what I witnessed from an employee/owner of the business, & I believe that the way businesses treat non-customers is still important, I will not be removing this review at this time.

I went in to get my bike tuned up and tires changed because it was due time. I rode my bike once a week, love my bike, generally no issues at all. The initial quote was $225 for tune up and new tires change (me bringing the tires.) When Damien assessed the bike (the owner), he said there were some things wrong with my brakes and he wanted to bleed them and fix the brake wiring. I had no issues with my brakes whatsoever but he seemed honest at the time, so I agreed. The new quote was for $420 for fixing brakes, tune up, and new tires. Meanwhile my bike is in the shop 1 week now. $420 was very expensive to me, but I just went with his opinion. Fast forward, this guy Damien calls me again and says he found issues with my wheel and needs to redo some of the hardware on the rims, he literally over the phone told me it might be $30 more. I say fine whatever. Damien calls me to tell me the bike is done, this is two weeks now. And I go to pick it up. When I pick it up the bike was $610!!!!! This was absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. I argue with him because he never ever told me the price would be in the $600 range! I would have never agreed to that. I have to argue with him a little and he only takes the total down to $570! This bike shop is completely unprofessional. At what point would I approve $200 worth of fixing on rims? For my total to go from $420 to $610. Damien is completely dishonest, and never told me the costs and added so many unapproved costs. Why would I pay you $40 to clean my bike, I never asked you to do that yet you charged me for that! I will never bring my bike again to this place. The owner is a crook, the receipt does not lie!
