I had an amazing experience at Laid Back Cycles! I'd been interested in trying an electric recumbent trike as I had to stop riding my two-wheel due to injury and balance issues. I was able to test-ride an e-recumbents and found that with the wide and stable wheelbase, pedal-assist, and accessibility addition options, they felt perfect for my situation. They're difficult to find, let alone find somewhere where I could do demos of different options to compare. Luckily, I heard about Laid Back at my physical therapy clinic and had the chance to do all of those, plus get advice from experts about my many novice questions. Everyone I talked with was extremely helpful and enthused. I'm so excited about riding again (and let me just say that these things are *fun*) My thanks to everyone at Laid Back Cycles! I wholeheartedly recommend them. read more

Excellent customer service and Laid Back Cycle now carries AZUB trikes. I viewed Laid Back Cycle's AZUB video on Youtube and was sold. Laid Back Cycle has a good selection of AZUB models and you get great value as Laid Bike Mickey has strong working knowledge and expertise to guide you through the process. Although they are located in Sacramento they are one of the best in the country regarding recumbent trikes. I ordered my AZUB Ti Fly 26 and live in San Diego. You will enjoy working with Laid Back Mickey. read more

These guys never called back. I live in San Jose, and I needed someone to help me figure out my first bike after being a victim of a hit-and-run and being quad paralyzed 10 months ago. Called These guys nine times, never answer, left three messages, and no callback. Terrible. read more

On a cloudy Friday afternoon, I came back from a short ride on my 2010 Catrike 700 and discovered I had lost the end bolt and the bearing on a front wheel. I called them for the first time ever. Mickey (owner) and Abraham (the specialist who assisted me through my test rides) are knowledgeable, experienced, helpful, and truly listen to their customer's hopes, needs, and questions about just what will be best for them. The shop is totally fitted out with a great selection of trikes, as well as equipment/accessories, and all aspects of my experience were positive, providing an experience exceeding my expectations and helping me feel totally comfortable about my purchase. I'm grateful for their expert guidance and am really excited, looking forward to delivery of my Catrike! read more

I'm still awaiting delivery of my Catrike Villager, so this favorable review assumes a happy ending. I drove from the Bay Area to Sacramento to test-drive trikes. I was greeted by a relatively new LBC employee who proved to be courteous, well-informed, and patient as he answered countless questions and supervised my test drives of two excellent trikes. After I decided to buy a trike, both the new guy and Mickey cooperated to seal the deal without pressuring me to buy excessive accessories. I would buy from Laid Back Cycles again, even though a drive to Sacramento is a high add-on price to pay for an otherwise excellent experience. read more

I am impressed by the well stocked and layed out display of many cycle choices. The staff member was very knowledgeable and professional. He asked relevant questions that accomodated my budget and mobility issues. He then showed me the options that fit those issues. Being able to ride the battery assist trike let me know this was the trike for me. This is definitely the place to learn about and purchase a trike! read more

I experienced a catastrophic failure of my Magnum XL within the 1st few hours after picking it up. I was pissed. Took it back the following morning fully prepared for a fight... There was no fight. Had a great test drive experience with Josh, so knowledgeable and helpful. Today I wound up purchasing a used trike which needed a little work. They got me right in and set the bike up for me like new. No guilt about not buying from them, just a genuine support of the bike and me as a rider. Truly blown away and so appreciative of their help! read more

Laid Back Cycles went above and beyond in their service. As a disabled cyclist, I also found them to be more understanding than any cycle store I've been to. They let the disabled person have the final word on what their own access needs are and what works for them. Highly recommended store! read more

I recently bought a Terra Trike "Rogue" model recumbent cycle from this shop's Fair Oaks location. I did a lot of research on 'bent bikes and zeroed in on LBS. It took less than two weeks for the order to be shipped and built, but it felt like an eternity because I was so excited to get this trike. I used this time to educate myself on 'bents through the extensive print and video library produced by LBS. James helped with the fitting and I felt perfectly confident in his skills. I couldn't be happier. read more

OMG! This is my dream. I need one of these beautiful trikes! #lifegoals! First, this is the cleanest most organized shop. Big points in my book. I find that clean and organized often holds hands with impeccable service and integrity. wether it's a restaurant or in this case a trike shop. I am not wrong. It's the New Year and I'm feeling the need for speed! Plus I may or may not have been on the sugar cookie diet and it's working! He he I'm looking for a new way to work off this cookie weight ,but it has to be fun. This brings me to the doors of Laid Back Cycles. Hello. The owner is full of important information and a hearty degree of patience and genuine smiles (good job pal!). I have a lot of questions. He's a pro. Loves everything about his trikes and I'm excited. Also Laid Back has a whole parking lot that allows me to try out any bike I want! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee! In our conversation he mentions that he has been able to specialize lots of trikes for people with disabilities. I'm all like, that's so cool! He's shows a lot of care about wanting the trike to fit perfectly. Which is important, as this is an investment. Nice! Most important to me is the community he has created with his clients!!! Group trike rides with food he provides and socials. I cannot wait to ride!!!! #excited #rideandwine #bikeclub read more

Absolutely great experience. LaidBack built an adaptive trike for my husband, who is a paraplegic, and a trike for me. When we returned to pick up the trikes, we spent about 3 hours for adjustments and training. The entire LaidBack team was just so supportive. We love our new trikes! read more

My father-in-law had major knee surgery when he was in his 40s and subsequently resorts to riding a recumbent bike with hand pedals. He has one back at home in Minnesota but wanted one for when he visits us in California. He was looking high and low for a hand powered bike and every place we called recommended that we contact Laid Back Cycles. So we went for a visit and he tested out a few bikes at Laid Back Cycles. The manager or owner, I believe his name is Mickey was extremely helpful and let my father-in-law test out the bikes in the gigantic parking lot. After some debate and discussion, my father-in-law purchased the bike the next day! Mickey also threw in free delivery to our home in Folsom and discounted bike racks! Wow, thank you! Great customer service, great product, would recommend to a friend! Thank you Laid Back Cycles! read more

What a great buying experience ! I cant recommend Clay and Laid Back Cycles highly enough. Well worth the long drive i took to get there. They offer appointments and you get 100% of their attention and amazing expertise. Clay spent a lot of time with me, explaining the differences between trikes and makers. Also answering my many questions. He set me up for a test drive, which their location is perfect for. I ended up with a catrike trail and am loving it. Great ride, great ergonomics and the versatility of a folding trike. Clay set me up with all the accessories i needed for safety, comfort and utility. My husband got so jealous of my new passion that now he bought one too. (Re covid : They wear masks and offer sanitizer. Someone came in the shop and forgot their mask and they even had spares to give them.) read more

Mickey has been taking care of my biking needs since the mid-90's' and has never disappointed. He is kind, considerate, helpful, consistent, and fair. This is a business with integrity. They have great follow-through and have always treated me with respect and care. I can only write a review for myself, but I have also watched them help many of my friends over the years with special needs, back problems, and other biking restrictions. They know their stuff! read more

We made an appointment to test drive a specific bike. When we arrived, after driving for over an hour and a half, we were told the bike was no longer available for testing. Needless to say we did not get a courtesy call to inform us of the change. Laidback's failure to keep the appointment, despite their assurances in advance, is a terrible business practice, good luck. I will never set foot in this place again. read more

Yea, just bought a Catrike, enjoying it very much. These guys are the bomb, customer service/knowledge is in their DNA. I've called a number of times, went into store a number of times prior to purchase and they were always great. I have purchased two Terra Trikes from Laid Back Cycles in the past month. The first experience was so good that I went back for a second, even though I live in Oakland and the trikes are going to Southern California (driven down there by me one by one -- my decision, they can also ship). Clay, Joel, and James get top marks for amazing customer service: responsive, friendly, clearly knowledgeable about their products, happy to offer test rides, and patient. I originally researched trike shops in the OC/LA area, but felt most confident going with Laid Back Cycles. Very happy with this decision. As for recumbent trikes generally, these are great for all ages. I have watched as two 75+ year-old women who did not ride bikes as adults have become *obsessed* with riding. It's a win-win for them. Getting excited about learning a new skill while feeling safe, finding a new form of exercise during these restricted times, getting fresh air, interacting more with other residents in the neighborhood (lots of waving and thumbs up, apparently), and even enjoying the thrill of going down a good hill! For those who are curious, I purchased the Gran Tourismo and it can be fitted to someone who is 5' 1". read more

Mickey, Jack, and the Mechanic team at Laid Back Cycles are absolutely amazing. They genuinely want to help you with anything related to recumbents, velomobiles, and trikes. Laid Back Cycles gives better customer service than any bike shop I've ever been to. There isn't a pretentious bone in their body. I recently decided to buy a used Velomobile and the staff at Laid Back Cycles went above and beyond to help me kit it out to my desires. They researched components thoroughly, always keeping in mind the price and my schedule. They try to save you money when possible but also give you the honest scoop on what works best. I love visiting the shop and I never get out of there without a nice chat with the staff or other customers. It's a clean shop with a really friendly atmosphere. Five stars all the way. read more

Several months ago, I did my research and decided I wanted to see what these recumbent trikes were all about. So, I stopped in the store and was immediately greeted by Mickey. I was given the chance to ride several models and was pretty much hooked. It was this visit that inspired my wife and I to become "Laid Backified" and now have two Terratrikes. We love them! Today, 12/2/2014, I was reminded of what a great place Laid Back Cycles is! I brought my Tour II in (Just turned 1000 miles yesterday) to get fenders put on. Vinny, as always, was there to go the extra mile by not only installing the fenders, but adjusting and fixing little things that it needed. All my experiences at Laid Back have been like this. They truly make you feel like you're part of the family! read more

Looking forward to my next trike purchase (hopefully this year), it will be from the awesome team at Laid Back! read more

My husband and I drove 2.5 hours to try out one of the e recumbants. Spencer was our assistant. First of all, his patience and humilty was impressive for helping a 66 year old woman learn the various gadgets. The shop itself has a positive ambience, indicating a team spirit among the employees. I watched how they interacted with each other as they took turns helping with adjustments and such. It appeared that they were enjoying the experience as much as I was.... Now...we decided to buy, so left to get some $$ and take lunch. They worked through their own lunch hour so that the bike would ready for us by 2:00-ish. Spencer had me sit down for final adjustment...and here is the reason you go to shops like this to get fitted. Spencer noticed as I was pedaling that a small adjustment was needed for my left leg. Now I did not tell him that one leg is slightly shorter than the other..his expert eye caught this, and he took the chain apart to make the left side 1 half inch shorter than the right side. After he did this, it felt WAY better, though I would not have known this adjustment was needed without his experienced eye. Because Spencer made this so fun for me, I went on to buy a bunch of other stuff...the shoes, the bag, 2 mirrors, support handles, the rack on the back, the head rest....I was having a blast! I will go back to this place for any future needs. A trust was created through the extra time the store took to make sure all the adjustments were JUST RIGHT...they did not rush me out even after the sale was "in the bag"....Kathleen Saffas read more

Super awesome service. Years of experience in owning bike shops and as a riders. Mickey stands behind his products and offers on yelp. Found them on Fairfield yelp and didn't know they had a fair Oaks yelp page too. He honored the yelp offer with no regrets. Super pleasant and has a class to teach you how to fine tune and adjust your bike. Can't wait to share their business card on my first ride. By far, what every business should be like. The customer service is excellent at Laid Back Cycles. Not only am I very happy with my purchase of my Catrike Trail, but because of their service I will be going back when I upgrade to the Expedition. When I first came in (just a walk-in from the street) they greeted me and treated me as though I had been coming in for years. I asked a ton of questions and spent the better half of the afternoon there. Although they were busy, they still found time to answer all my questions and asked me a few questions of their own which help me into moving in the right direction. I must have tried 5 or 6 different trikes that day. They didn't ask for anything from me. Just let me take the trikes outside and rode around (which I rode about 2hours).It was wonderful! No "demo"trikes to ride to try to hook ya into any specific model. It was "just pick anyone you want to try here on our showroom floor". And there were a bunch to choose from. There was no pressure to buy anything. In fact, I left and came back almost a month later. They remembered who I was and picked up where I left off. After I made my purchase at Laid Back, I went on a cross country trike tour with a stroke awareness org. I was gone for 3 months. Normally, you should have your trike dialed in after approx. 100 miles or at least within the first 2 months. I called and told them what I was doing and that I wouldn't be back for a few months. They told me, "No problem. Just let us know when you get back and we will take care of you". This is how customers should be treated and is one of the biggest factors in why I will return to Laid Back Cycles. They don't treat you like a customer. They treat you like family. They are honest, fair, helpful, knowledgeable, and most important, want you to be happy. I made 2 great investments the day I bought my trike. The first was in myself (my health has drastically improved and I have lost over 30lbs) & the second was purchasing my trike from Laid Back Cycles. read more

My girlfriend and I made the decision to go the recumbent tricycle route after some joint issues made conventional bike riding more difficult. We couldn't be happier! Drove up all the way from Orange County, CA because our research pointed to this being the top place in the state to make our purchase. It definitely turned out to be true, and she and I are now proud owners of twin Catrike 559s. We called ahead several times to make sure that there would be a choice of trike models for us to test ride, and if possible, take home with us in the minivan. Scott and Clay gave us lots of phone time up front to discuss our criteria and their suggestions. On the day of our appointment, Clay "walked" us through the various models and their features, and we took test rides on multiple models, including on-the-spot sizing modifications (my girlfriend and I are quite different in stature . . .) for a full 3 hours. Throughout, James was the mechanical "tech master," much like Simon Pegg in a Mission: Impossible movie. A complete build of one of the bikes (name of builders unknown) and a folding/unfolding lesson were completed by closing time, allowing us to take both trikes with us back to the Southland. 100% satisfied! read more
