For many of us climbers, we used to have similar shops from yesteryear, Holubar, Frostline, Boulder Mountaineer, the 'old school' REI and the vintage Neptune Mountaineering, these shops had high quality gear that lasted the test of time and wear. Nowadays, fashion rather than function seems to be the selection at 'outdoor' shops. Ok... there's Bent Gate that still carries higher quality gear for folks who like to 'get at it'. Sure, you get what you pay for but the stuff does what it's supposed to do albeit at a price point a little higher than average. However, if you ever needed gear that will not fail, buy the better stuff for in the long run, you'll not only come out ahead but it might save your life. Bent Gate is such a company that strives for selling better gear... period!

Throughout the process Jared was accommodating and generous with his insights. The price point was incredibly competitive - jacket, pants, goggles and gloves for $40. I believe a helmet could have been included, but the ski park included a helmet in their equipment package. I would recommend Mountain Threads without hesitation.

My dry fly cast improved so much and both guys helped me mend the line much better. My dad hasn't fly fished in over 20years and commented on how comfortable the guys made him feel at his experience level. They also showed us a bunch of different bugs in the water, helping me identify which flies to use in the future and how to check the water to see what the fish are eating.
