Splash pad, kids area
Haleigh P.

What a great water park!!! The grounds are so clean, friendly staff, and so many options to check out! Slides, diving boards, splash pad areas, lazy river, and a play ground on the outside. Lots of space for lots of chairs. They offer daily passes, season passes, and splash passes-- to fit all of your family's needs. Lockers, restrooms, showers, and sunscreen pump stations are all offered on location. They also have a confession stand offering food and drinks! Great place to spend a summer day!

Come on in! The water's great!

We got together with a large group of friends to enjoy an afternoon at the water park. Since we were a group of 10, we qualified for a pass that got us in for $5.50/person. My toddler granddaughters, aged 1 and 2, were free. I was really impressed when we were handed one sample sized bottle of zinc oxide sunscreen per person at the gate. I was even more impressed when I passed thru the gates and saw the sunscreen station that was set up for all guests to reapply, as needed. Great idea and fantastic perk. I'm a serious germ phobe and locker rooms at public pools and water parks typically give me serious anxiety. But I have to say, the womens locker room was very well kept and there was absolutely no standing water, anywhere. I was even more grateful for the cleanliness since I had 2 toddler in tow. There was plenty of room for me to lay a towel down over the double row of benches to diaper and dress my little ones without being a space hog and getting in others way. Everyone in our large group really enjoyed the lazy river. It's a nice size, with a section that you can choose to either take a path under sprinklers or avoid it all together. There seemed to be a few places where you could get in and out, but most of us just used the main entrance/exit. I didn't get to try out the slides, since I had 2 toddlers with me. But my teenager obviously enjoyed them and rode the slides with his buddies for most of our visit. When he tired of slides and the lazy river, he got himself a burger from the snack stand and said it was good. If I were to complain about anything, it would be a few issues with the "kiddie" area. First, there is not one single spot in the play gym that you can stand without being sprayed with water. It kept my granddaughters and I from getting in it more than once. It's impossible to see where you're even going and not enjoyable, at all. My granddaughters both panicked when I walked them thru it. I noticed during our entire visit that not many children really played on it, mostly around it. The side of the pool with the walk-in entrance is also lined with orange cones that are mega toddler attractors...which makes the marching lifeguard constantly scold them to stop, no matter how much their parents are clearly trying to deter them. The parents of the other children that my granddaughters made friends with also stopped even trying to get their children to leave them alone because the lifeguards clearly were going to continue to bark at them to stop playing with them, no matter how much their caregivers were clearly trying to get them to leave them alone. The area to the side that's set up more for toddlers was pretty cool. It's a neat cause/effect dam type system. If we ever go back, I would bring some toys for the kids to play with in it.

Freedom Park

Freedom Park is good for a fun time during a cool or cloudy day, but holy moly if it's a hot and sunny day, because there is zero shade here. (And by "zero" I mean none, nada, nothing. Not even a tree under which to seek relief.) So you're left standing there, sweating in the sun, cajoling your kid to hurry up and go down the hot-as-lava slide so that you can get the heck out of there and go somewhere cooler. Kids will love it during any type of weather, though, as there are bridges to traverse, swings to swing on, ladders to climb, rock walls to conquer ... all kinds of fun kid things. There is also a free-standing restroom and walking/running path that maneuvers around the park. Freedom Park is right outside of the Freedom Springs Greenwood Aquatics Park, so there are lots of entertaining things to do around here.

Too expensive! Didn't go in. Reverse discrimination. If you don't live in Greenwood, it costs more!

Great place for the kids that enjoy diving boards and 13 feet deep water. Able to dive and do many things that some parks don't allow.

GREAT playset for older kids. With the play area, I wouldn't recommend for kids under 3 yrs old.

The kids area looked to be updated with a toddler slide, and the big slide was fast and fun!!! I will definitely be back. They are open even in the winter and it was a good day to go today because it was slightly raining out. 4 stars because they have a good court with nothing in it.

Eh -- Indy Island is OK. I'll start with the positives:…read more 1. There were always at least half a dozen lifeguards circling the perimeter of the pool and water area. They were constantly walking back and forth, checking things out, so I always felt like my kids were safe. 2. This indoor aquatic center is open year-round, so kids have a place to splash, wade and swim even when it's freezing outside. The day I visited, the water temperature was nice and warm, and the ambient air temp was just as inviting. 3. It's really inexpensive. Prices range from $4 to $6 dollars depending on age and the day you visit. Kids 2 and younger are free. 4. This is a small indoor water park, but it's big enough to have fun for hours. Now for the negatives: 1. This indoor water park is really old and in need of an update, and it shows. The playground structures in the water area are visibly rusted and look dirty. 2. The lock to the bathroom / changing room I was in DID NOT LOCK. It goes without saying that their changing rooms should have working locks. I had to stand by the door to block it, hoping that no one would try to come in! It also didn't have a trash can, for some reason. 3. The hallway to the changing room was super dark and didn't have any lights. Pretty much the last place you want to be changing in is a dark and creepy room. Fix the lightbulbs! This is another simple thing that could be fixed if they kept up the place. 4. They don't allow outside food or drinks inside the aquatic center. You can buy food and drinks at their snack bar, but when I was there (on a weekend), it was closed. Not sure what they expect visitors to do with a closed snack bar during operating hours. I like that Indy offers places like Indy Island so kids can enjoy swimming and playing in the water indoors. But this place is in need of some TLC in order to compete with some of the other indoor aquatic centers.

We are visiting our grandkids from out of town and decided to splurge and take them to the…read morewaterpark for the day. The weather was going to be absolutely beautiful so we thought they would enjoy this. It is a weekday booking so I reserved a cabana online. The cost was $90 for 11 AM to 7 PM which is pretty pricey. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and full hotel resorts charge a simlar price. The price of the cabana does not include an entrance fee either, so you'd need to be a member for this pricing to make a whole lot of sense on a regular basis. I did look up the pricing online for the day pass entry and what was posted at the entrance gate was almost twice what was posted on line. We paid $57 entrance fee for our two grandchildren aged six and nine, grandpa is over 65 so he got a discount and I had to pay full adult price. That makes the cost of entry for a water park at almost $150. Anyway, with all of that aside, we did end up having a wonderful day and we were there about six hours. The kitty pool does not seem to be heated. It was very cold, but it is very shallow so I'm sure there is a reason behind that. We spent most of our time in the large activity pool that has a spot where my granddaughter could practice swimming, as well as a deep end where my older granddaughter could play. there is a water structure in here with a slide and buckets that dump on the kids. My older granddaughter enjoyed the variety of water slides. Neither of them were old enough to be able to handle the flow Rider. The lazy river ride was also nice. The lifeguards were extremely attentive and ensuring everyone was safe. And we were there from 10 AM to 4 PM and we only counted one 15 minute break where they emptied the activity pool. We did not partake in the concessions. We do appreciate the fact that Carmel allows you to bring in your own food. With the plethora of dietary issues, this was really appreciated. We did purchase snowcones, eventually as they were out out of ice by 2 PM, but they did end up getting refills. Our cabana had a wicker couch and four chairs, no cushions on anything. We had a working refrigerator and a power outlet as well as a Safe and two shelves we could store items. We did put two loungers in front of our cabana that we shared and used to dry our towels Staff was super friendly and helpful There are some shaded areas that are in the grass. If you do not rent a cabana, you may be able to nab a spot here. It appears you are able to also eat your own food in the grassy area or at the concession stand if you don't have a cabana. I did not see many shaded seats on the concrete around the pools. There were a couple of large structure umbrellas, but for the most part, you are in the sun. For a Monday, it wasn't busy in the morning but by afternoon time it was pretty packed. I did see a lot of vacant cabanas though so that would be an option. If you wanted to ensure you had a place to sit it's just pricey.

There are lots of lifeguards you can definitely visually see, which makes the place feel safer than most. The pools minimally smells of chlorine, but isn't over the top. I really like how there are multiple areas to play for all age groups such as the toddler area, the big kid area, the water slides, the lazy river, and even the flow rider with staff always on hand and ready to assist. They are extremely friendly and helpful. There are plenty of chairs and even cabanas to rent. My only con is the bathroom smell. There were several times I took my toddler to the bathroom and they were wet (which is expected) but you could definitely smell the urine *yuck! Otherwise, everything was great! This was my first time here and won't be my last.

First, there is an awesome water park located right outside of it. It is classified as a nature park and has many shady trees. The park has two playgrounds, one near the entrance and one near the exit. The one near the entrance is newer and consists primarily of a large green and brown jungle gym with slides, monkey bars, hanging spinners and bridges. There is a bank of expression swings and a bank of traditional/toddler swings over there. This playground area is on a bed of wood chips and has benches on the perimeter for parents to sit while their littles play. You will see a few picnic tables spread out in this area and a set of nice outdoor corn hole boards. The shelter nearest that area doubles as a rest room facility. The park has a few nice shelters with picnic tables under them and grills just outside of them. I counted at least four of them. The other playground area is fenced in and a little older. It has a jungle gym with slides, monkey bars, and bridges. There is a bench under a canopy for parents to sit and the area is on a bed of wood chips. Like the other playground area, there is a bank of expression swings and a bank of traditional/toddler swings. Other park amenities include a gazebo, a small creek for fishing, and an old graveyard, yes a graveyard. The park is home to a nice paved trail, the Franklin Greenway, that runs right through it. The park is pretty spread out and I like it. There is lots of space to roam. There is not much open green space for field activities such as soccer and football though. This is a very nice option for a nature park in the Franklin area. It is a diamond and the rough and can keep you busy. It does have a somewhat peaceful vibe with it. This could possibly be a destination park and I recomend checking it out.
