My husband and I recently had solar panels installed on our roof by Freedom Solar because since we moved here from the SF Bay Area our power bills increased 60% -- and Pacific Power keeps asking for more increases to be approved. (Interestingly, both Pacific Power and PG&E are owned by Berkshire Hathaway.) Without exception, every person that we worked with that is part of Freedom Solar is superb at their job. We experienced top-notch efficiency, warmth, excellent communication (they do what they promise by the time they promise to do it, if not earlier), and straight talk -- and we had very difficult and challenging questions for them before we decided to move forward. Our system passed multiple inspections with flying colors. As soon as Pacific Power gives us permission to go live, we will be generating solar power. We couldn't recommend any company more highly. We'd like to give a particular shout out to Aaron Weagel, who was our first point of contact, as well as Adam Larue, who is our project manager. Both of these people are simply exemplary. read more

Had everything installed system was working and then we had a complete switch over to a whole new company now we have to pay for the monitoring and we have to pay for the app usage. I contacted freedom solar they provided no assistance. Sun strong connect bought their app. Now I have to pay a fee every month. Avoid freedom solar. This was a huge mistake. Avoid them. read more

I would not use this company! One of their big selling points is their warranty. If you have a need to replace your roof for any reason - you have to have your solar panels detached, replace your roof and then have your solar panels reattached. You need to use Freedom Solar in order to maintain your warranty. It's a good theory/rule and I'm a rule follower... After all, I want to keep this warranty active. However - in Colorado, Freedom Solar does not offer this service and the email I received recommends a couple other installers who may be able to help. The email also clearly states that using another installer will void the warranty. This is really bad because I just had a hail loss and have to have my roof replaced. I've had my solar installed for a little over a year and now I'm going to have to negate my warranty in order to repair the hail damage. We signed a contract for solar with Freedom Solar on April 26, 2024. Now Freedom Solar estimates that our system will launch in July 2025 - months away and who knows what will happen in the meantime. We will have waited more than a year while having already paid the financial majority. At the time it was suggested that we could turn the system on in 7-9 months. But the project has moved very slowly. At times, it seems like the only reason there was progress was after I bugged Freedom Solar. In November and December: a city inspector showed up but there was no one from Freedom Solar. There was an inspection where the city inspector asked for changes. When the inspector returned, the changes were not improved. The only reason why I'm giving Freedom Solar 2 stars is that their people seem to care about customers. UPDATE: 5/1/2023 We've had a full year of solar service and still have had issues. Most recently our system stopped communicating with the panels for over a month and I have yet to be able to reach anyone other than a service center in Texas which directs me to resolve my issue via email. Customer service is definitely a disservice here. And to top it off, my first year production did not meet the promised amount and now I am trying to reach someone - anyone really - who can help me with making good on this part of the contract. Do not recommend! We needed them for a "detach and reset", due to having hail damage on our roof. They quoted us almost $9k. seemed alot but ok. Then when it came time to do the job, they told us they don't offer the detach and reset service in Colorado. They said we can use a third party but we will lose our warranty with them. It's been a tough ride. Simply can't get through to anyone or get them to return emails. People seem to leave that company every week. Please do yourself a favor and don't make the same mistake I did. And I paid alot more than what other companies were asking, because they sold me on being a 'one stop shop' for all my solar needs in the future. read more

Freedom Solar is one of the worst in the industry. I went with Freedom soon after I moved into my house back in May, 2021. The representative quoted me $99/mo to lease the equipment for 25 years telling me I would not have to pay another electricity bill ever again. Since the system was turned on, I've had to pay anywhere from $25 to $255 in electricity every month even though the app shows the production is way over my consumption! I've complained to them every month since it's been turned in and it takes over a month to respond to my emails/calls. They finally sent a tech out to check on the production of the panels and was told they were not wired correctly at install so the production was not accurate from what the app was telling me. If I could get rid of it altogether, I would in a second. They are the worst company I have ever done business with. They lie to get the sale and leave you hanging. Do not buy from them. I have had 4 appointments to get them inspected and have not been able to get them inspected yet. They are putting the whole situation back on me. Several times the inspector was hear but no one from Freedom Solar was here and they were not able to inspect my solar panels. I finally called cussing out their customer service and the man they gave me to contact. His name is John. He put the whole situation back on me. It's simple, this company lies. They pitch you, your buy it, they tell you things like "it will take 4-6 months to get your system up and running" and then it takes 8. You start paying on your loan for the system AND you electric bill while you wait. They tell you they will pay you 3 months of your electric bill as part of their promotion while you wait the 8 months only for the time to come for them to pay and they say, "oh we only reimburse you up to $150" and they need some termination document that they never mention anywhere. This company always answers the phone, A+ there...but no matter what it is you call about, nothing ever gets done. Captains of never delivering on anything they say they will do. Like many of the other recent reviewers, we are also frustrated and beyond disappointed with Freedom Solar. We started our install process in March 2024, and it is now October 2024, and we have an inoperable system that has failed 2 inspections on multiple points and we are unable to get anyone from Freedom Solar to contact us back despite numerous phone calls and emails to various contacts, from project managers to customer support to Freedom Solar main numbers. Their online customer portal says our system will be operational next year! The detail of their sales pitch blew everyone else out of the water, and the installation folks were nice, but obviously the install was not up to par, and the communication is entirely nonexistent. We regret not going with a local company. We have invested an immense amount of money into a large residential solar system with Tesla battery that doesn't pass inspection and Freedom Solar has disappeared. read more

Don't waste your time with this company. They do not respect their potential customers time or communication. After someone expresses interest, Freedom Solar Power and Sun Power will harass you with over a dozen calls, emails, and texts... yet don't read or listen to your inquiries once the appointment is made. In my case, after I invested hours in research, bill submittal, and disclosed everything about my roof, the salesman called two hours before the appointment for which I took 2 hours off work, to cancel the estimate appointment. He said my roof did not quality yet I had disclosed my roof type in writing in my initial inquiry, again in the first phone call, and I overheard the phone attendant ask someone else during our call if the roof would be an issue and they said it would not. Be sure to read the other reviews too. Like me, you may have approached SunPower thinking you are getting top of the market solar panels, but it comes down to a headache. read more

I went with Freedom Solar Power after talking to numerous solar companies for quite a bit of reasons one of them being customer service. After having the system installed one year later I can definitely say that the customer service is well below any standards I've experience. Service was great pre-sale, but once the system is installed they will leave you hanging. I've had numerous issues getting service when needed on my system but the latest issue is really aggravating. I've called customer service three times, emailed twice over the course of three weeks and have yet to get any sort of substantial response or someone out here to fix my system. If you want good service you wont get it here. I talked to a manager named Tim Millianos who refused to answer any questions around how i can receive better service, continually talked down to me, gave me no reassurances, and I'm still being hung out to dry with no follow-up or help. Signed the contract with Freedom Solar 11/27/21. As of 9/28/22 they have not started the installation. My emailed questions to "customer service" are not being answered and "customer service" has stopped responding. After scheduling an canceling start dates in February, March, May and June, they decided to place blame on "waiting for permits". I have been corresponding with the City permitting department on a regular basis and can confirm that "waiting on permits" is a blatant lie. The real issue that Freedom Solar will not admit to is that they are unwilling to submit the permit application to the City because that would mean that they need to have a start date for the project (permit required to block a city street for a couple of hours during some of the work). My hope is that the local Denver office may be fudging their metrics for corporate in Texas by trying to blame shift. My fear is that this company is reaching peak Ponzi and will fold leaving me without a photovoltaic system while they take the money and run. read more

I reached out to Freedom Solar to get a quote. Like so many solar companies they think they can do their research strictly from behind a desk - even when they are only 15 minutes away from a customer. My house is old, and the roof lines are challenging. I informed them of this when I first contacted them. I also told them I was willing to cut or trim trees as needed. They assured me they'd send someone smart out to look at the project. Well, that person didn't want to come out. He decided that he could see enough on Google. Very foolish. I had already spoken with three other companies- two didn't want to come out but the third did and found that, yes, they actually could do a system. I'd also advised Freedom that I would be willing to take down an old chimney for more sun - that's something I hadn't even offered to the other companies. The bottom line is that Freedom Solar doesn't appear to be very motivated. I suppose they just want simple flat roofs to work with. As if life were always that easy. read more

After I posted my review in January we were offered 4 months of our loan paid by Freedom to help ease our frustration and that they would do what they could to escalate the completion of our project (HA!). It is now 4 months later and the panels were installed but now we have failed an inspection and continue to receive NO communication. Summer is almost gone and the best hours to actually start getting back on our investment. They don't return calls, or emails. But they sure took our money, I'm off to the BBB to file a complaint. Freedom solar loves to make promises, then not deliver on them. First promise was it will be done by March. April came and they finally got the panels installed, but wait - no electrician available to hook it up until June. Well then the inspection fails, and so we have to have them come back and the inspection failed again. So now we're rolling into mid July and we still don't have a system that works. They also promised an upgraded electrical panel as ours was old, and no room for their breakers, and we said we needed more room and they said they would install a bigger one. Well that promise was broken too no room for the circuit we needed to add. Get it in writing for dates. Demand they stick to dates or give money back. They keep overselling their own ability to keep up. Better yet - just find a different installer- the reviews here tell the story, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. read more

My experience with Freedom Solar has been frustrating and unacceptable. All of their teams are disorganized and lack basic communication skills. Additionally, the teams are incapable of communicating with each other so problems that span several elements are not addressed efficiently, if at all. It has been delay after delay without any communication to me about the cause of these delays and what next steps are being taken. I signed up in October of 2021 and my system was finally installed in may/June of 22. Understandingly there were lots of delays. In the 7 months I've had the system it has been plagued with issues (it mostly works, mostly problems with one panel it two). However it is a constant battle to get issues resolved. I feel like they push stuff back to the manufacturer and it is constant delays. Some have been staffing issues but they have been here at least a half a dozen times. It is now going on a month to get me rescheduled for a service call. They send someone out who cannot get on tile roofs but don't tell him it's a tile roof. He can't fix it and someone else has to come out. I've had to follow up and it takes a week to answer my email. Their response...was that they are having a hard time getting my rescheduled. I paid over $50k for a system that hasn't performed as is expected and They can't get it serviced. I don't know if the sold more than they could service or are they poorly run. My friends have installed other systems and have had no issues. I recommend you look elsewhere for service. read more

So very, very disappointed with this company. We started this process in December of 2021, we were promised to have the solar up and running by June so we could save money through summer. It is currently September and our system is a very expensive paperweight. We are now paying for the loan PLUS the expensive electricity since August. So all the promises that the loan will weigh out with what you save with the solar you produce is clearly a lie for us. We were also told we would have a 3 month rebate for the months of December, January and February...never seen any of that money either. I will be reporting to BBB next and I will also report them to consumer fraud department. This is a giant scam. read more

I decided to research Solar Panels in May 2022. After another rate increase by Xcel Energy, the hand writing was on the wall. Electric bills were only going to get more and more costly. I contacted 5 companies to give me estimates. Each company required my electric usage going back a year, pictures of my electric panel on the back of my home, and my expectation of the solar panels. I decided to go with SunPower by Freedom Solar based on two things 1) Maxeon Series 425 Watt Panels manufactured by SunPower and only sold through them - these panels are the best on the market and give the highest percentage of solar output for the longest amount of time 2) Mike Kasprzyk, sales representative for Freedom Solar. Mike presented his proposal to me and spent a couple of hours explaining and answering my many questions about the proposed project. This was a huge expense for anyone let alone a senior on a fixed income. Mike gave me his cell number and told me to call him if I had any further questions. After reviewing all the estimates and asking questions of all the providers, I went with Freedom Solar. When I signed the proposal acceptance and gave Mike my deposit, he promised i could call him anytime with any question about my project. And, believe me, I did. I was very nervous in the beginning and his support was unwavering. I need not have worried. From the moment I signed with Freedom Solar, I had the support and expertise of every single person associated with my project. Mike Kasprzyk 303-656-9342 was ever available throughout my project. Krista Vohs guided me through every single step of the process. I almost had no time to formulate a question or concern before Krista responded to me. The site assessment person, the solar panel installation crew, the electric installation person, the monitor installation person - every one were knowledgeable, professional, courteous, efficient, and understanding. I heartily recommend Freedom Solar for your Solar Panel System installation. You cannot go wrong with Freedom Solar. At least that has been my experience. When I call customer service they say they will escalate it, no reply. Just more evidence their customer service is broken. I don't know how you could be excited to sign on to a 25 year warranty with a company this poorly functioning from a response standpoint. Short review (full review below): Please save yourself the headache and go with anyone else besides Freedom Solar. Everything about their customer service process feels broken. Our install is delayed, things had to be redesigned, and at literally every step of the way they have dropped the ball on communication, staying in contact with us, and generating trust in their process. I have given them so many second chances and tried to be a patient customer, but at this point they have ruined all ability for me to trust them as a company. Full Review: Had a great first experience with Freedom solar in terms of getting a system designed and a contract signed. As soon as the contract was signed everything fell apart, and no matter how many people I talk to and escalate our project through, things just keep getting dropped. First strike was that our original system designer (who sold me on Freedom solar, and was supposed to be my point of contact through the entire installation phase), left 2 weeks after I signed my contract. Did anyone from Freedom solar reach out to let me know about this? Nope. I learned about this after I tried to send an email to him asking about next steps. In response his manager emailed me back letting me know he left. I had reasonable concerns about what this meant for my project and contact with them, and wanting to have someone else still with the company double check that the system he designed for us would still work as intended. Instead I got left without a reply for weeks by this manager (Colleen), and had to start over by reaching out to the general customer service team on their website. I got a new system designer (Tony), who was fantastic, we talked through the original design, and he reassured me he would take over the project, and the system was still good. Tony was great. And I figured I was fine to give freedom solar a second chance and stick to the process. But, I also had people on the account management team disregard my emails and requests, and just again undermine my trust in Freedom Solar's processes. For example emailing my HOA president directly when I had specifically asked for all HOA submissions to go through me and I would route them to respective parties. Having repeat phone calls all telling me that some permit/application got approved, and having that same phone call happen 3 more times in the same day because they can't check that it had been done. My system had to get a slight redesign through the city permitting stage, which is totally fine, but how did I find out about it? Not through them reaching out and discussing the changes with me like they said they would, but instead as I was CCed onto a resubmission of the design to my HoA. When I brought up that I haven't even reviewed the changes yet, they said there were no real changes, it was just to the drawing. This was not true, an entire panel moved sides, and things had to be shifted around 3-5 feet. I wanted to talk through this with a designer to see how this would impact production, since I was assured the original layout was optimal for solar production. Turns out this new configuration lends itself to even better production, which is just confusing. Loss of faith in their processes once again. Then my case got escalated to be handled by someone on the customer service team. They were friendly at first but after discussing my concerns and trying to figure out what options there were to build back trust or to back out of the contract since I don't have faith in their ability to deliver a good install or follow up warranty care, I was told they would circle back with me first thing on Monday, 4/10. Monday and Tuesday came and went with no contact. Tried calling them Wednesday, and now its Thursday and that's the last straw which is why I'm leaving this review. Long story short, things just feel broken at Freedom Solar, unless you get lucky with a smooth process from the right people, just know that it feels the company has big problems that could be a big liability for a long term project like solar. read more

Since we've started the process of getting panels with Freedom Solar, it has been one of the most unprofessional and irritating experiences. Freedom Solar failed to perform the contracted work in a timely manner. I thought I did a lot of research into solar prior to selecting Freedom, but I would never recommend working with them after my experience. I've been attempting to address it with them for months and they have not kept any of their promises to me in getting them connected. Following up on my prior review, I believe that the company is taking significant actions to improve in the Denver market. I am basing this view on a discussion I had with the CEO of Freedom Solar, who reached out for a very candid discussion due to my experience. From what I was told, the firm recognizes the pressing need to improve in the Denver market, and they have taken meaningful steps to do so. I previously spoke with a new operations manager for this market, and he seemed to be committed to the mission. While the proof will be in the future operations, I believe that the future customer experience will be markedly improved. read more

I choose Freedom Solar to install solar panels on my property. I gave them a deposit of 9837.00. This started in May of 2022. I was informed that they could and would not be able to do the install. I asked for a refund 6 weeks ago. Never saw a check and when I call its just voice mail. This people are a fraud. read more

I signed my contract almost one year ago. They did get the solar panels mounted, however, they are not working because the installer did not follow the electrical drawings and the electric company will not set the meter until they resubmit drawings. This takes weeks. In the meantime, I am paying my electric bill plus the loan on my panels. Because you have to start paying shortly after your panels are installed. They don't seem to care about this. There has been very little effort to get me taken care of. I also don't know if I can claim these on my taxes for last year since they aren't currently working. You have to make a lump sum payment before your 17th payment or your loan amount goes up. If I can't claim them on this year's taxes, I'll be paying $50 more a month for the next 20 years. Something to think about if going with this company. I also found out your solar panels will not work if the grid goes down. Isn't that part of the reason you install solar panels? read more

Can't express how disappointed I am in this company. Pre-installation and sales, amazing. All downhill from there. Technician for initial site visit failed to charge drone and complete the site visit. Resulted in installation delays as the roof layout was not accounted for. Electricians doing install failed to review plans and bring parts for car charger - delay in installation. Electricians failed to install according to plans - failed inspection - delay in turning on. Had to have the system removed for roof replacement (hail storm) - weeks to wait for this, had to pay up-front. Took over 15 emails and phone calls to get someone out to reconnect the system after - and then they forgot to reinstall the critter guard. Most recently my powerwall is not working correctly. All they can tell me is "we can't get to you till sometime next year", they refuse to provide phone number for local (regional) manager, local manager will not call me back. As soon as they have your money - you'll be lucky to hear from them. Not only are you not "just a number" you can't even get a number. $63K for a system that is not working, no one to talk to locally (besides being told that was a selling point for them), and I can't even get service scheduled. The company installed the solar panels back in December 2021. Then it took so long for them to get back to us as to when the electrician could come out to finish. They finally schedule for 01/31/2022, a month after install of solar panels. We took the day off, they electrician never showed. When we were able to follow up they said that they forgot to inform us that we had been re-scheduled for 02/07/2022. They came 02/07/2022, however, they could not finish as the electrician mentioned it was a huge job and showed his frustration to us (the customer) after talking to his boss. They couldn't finish that day, so they rescheduled for 02/11/2022 to finish the job. They said we did not have to be home as they just to connect the wires on the outside. We saw they came though our cameras, however, when we got home, long wires were hanging from the house with no phone call or any sort of communication as to why the job STILL isn't complete! read more

Their team did a great job communicating and facilitating the process, and their integrated model (no subcontracting) works great--schedules were kept and work was completed on time and within budget. The whole process started out great. I was given all the information I needed to make a huge decision. Once things were actually in place that's where the service stoped. I was never given any updates as to what was going on. I was in limbo for about 3 months. Had no idea if I was actually qualified to get panels installed or not. One day out of the blue got an email saying that things were moving forward. Mind you this was 4 months after talking with someone. Whomever was the project manger was less than desirable, and to find out later on that person no longer worked with the company and not one time was I reached out to notifying me. If it wasn't for my own due diligence I don't think that this process would have concluded. If I didn't want solar panels so bad I would have told this company to kick rocks. Get your shit together!! Installers were great once things finally moved forward. Also, to add I was offered to switch to Vivint security as I already had ADT. The offer I was given was 3 years no monthly payment. After the that $33 a month. Great deal right. Great till the 2 companies don't share it information and you end up paying for the new service and the cancellation fees from the previous company. Overall could have been a good experience. At the end had me wondering what the fuck did I just do. read more
