Juan offered to look at the issues I was told by the dealership I had. Some of the items the dealer said I needed Juan was upfront and said it wasn't necessary or could wait. He agreed with a few issues (brake pads was #1) and two other items he will address next week. Once I left the business, I felt a sigh of relief. I didn't feel played or taken advantage of. Juan never rushed me and explained things in a way I understood. I appreciate him and his staff. I just got my brake pads done today and next week, he will complete the other items. If you need automotive work done, you owe it to yourself to go to G&J Auto repair.

They QUICKLY reached back out and quoted me over a $1000 for the job, while Elk Grove Chevy quoted me just over $700. I knew this job entailed dropping the pan and working around the exhaust. Something that is really easy to do once on a lift. All in all...a 1.5 hour job, and that's a BIG stretch. I shared this dealer quote with them, and it was basically shared with me that I should go there (not in a rude way). Well, obviously I did. The moral of the story for me and for others should be, DON'T assume ind. auto mechanics will be cheaper than the dealership. I ALWAYS want to support local business, but I will not support local businesses when they can't do a job at a fair price, and I feel like the trend with specialized labor has been leaning way towards a place it never used to be.

He is the most honest, reliable mechanic I have worked with for 50+years. I know he will tell me what absolutely needs to be done, what DOESN'T need to be done, what should be done but can wait, and the pros/cons/costs of each approach. 5 members of my family have gone there and I refer anybody to him who needs work, and wants an honest opinion. I read other reviews that occasionally give him 3 stars or less and I am always surprised to see those, but you can't please everyone. I lived in Placerville for 3 years and lived nearly 1 hour away, but ALWAYS took my car to Dan's Auto for everything other than routine oil changes. He must have a lot of repeat business because he seems to know everyone who walks in each time I drop off or pick up my car. I'm not surprised at all. I won't let anybody else work on my cars and he is much less expensive than the dealers.

I was also told that they take the car to another shop for tranny repairs which I thought was odd. Mechanic told me i need new synchros and I should honestly leave it due to the high cost, which was about 6k. Lady in the front immediately gave me an estimate to spend 7k for a new tranny. I went home decided to check under the hood to check the shifter linkages. Behold it turned out to be battery terminal line was blocking the shifter from going into 2nd. So I basically paid for a diagnostic and the mechanic didn't even check the shifter lines, like bro are we for-real. I felt like they barely checked the issue and I had to pay for the diagnostic. If they found the issue and told me i would've been relieved and wouldn't mind paying the fee. I ended up doing my own diagnostic not good.

I am sending him a demand letter (see pictures) today and am prepared to follow up with a complaint to the Bureau of Automotive Repair and file suit. Other work was ok, but not problem free. I see that the owner responded to my review. My friend did indeed work on my brakes. He replaced the rotors and the brake pads. He didn't touch the hydraulics. Sunrise Auto did the work on the hydraulic lines for the left front wheel brakes. The failure of my brake system occurred because the brake line work was not properly done. Sunrise Auto placed the flexible brake line where it would rub on the inside wheel well, ultimately causing a break in the line and a failure of hydraulic pressure. As I said, this botched repair job put my son at risk of serious bodily injury or death from traveling in a vehicle with no brakes. Here's my personal message to you, Peter. You evidently ignored my demand letter because I didn't receive payment. The next step is the Bureau of Automotive Repair. And after that I will pursue other legal remedies. I hope the readers of my review and your response will take heed and will take their business to another mechanic who performs reputable work.

I had my mother-in-law's 2017 Audi Q7 brought in for front brake and caliper replacement, as well as a full diagnostic to determine other necessary servicing. I was shocked when the owner tried to rip us off simply because we dressed up nicely. He assumed we had a lot of money. We informed him that the brakes needed replacement because the vehicle shook and vibrated badly when we braked on the highway. He falsely diagnosed the issue and claimed that the entire front suspension of the Audi needed to be replaced, with an estimate cost of almost $8,000. This garage was incredibly slow and took them all day to provide me with a quote on the necessary services. We were so frustrated that we walked out and went to a different garage. They listened to our concerns about the front suspension replacement and examined the vehicle. They determined that the front suspension was fine and that only the front brakes and calipers needed to be replaced. We paid the new shop $1,200, and the issue was resolved. The vehicle no longer shook or vibrated, and it drove very smoothly. The price difference between the two garages was staggering--$1,200 compared to $8,000. I strongly advise against taking your luxury vehicles to this garage. They lack the ability to test vehicles and are not loyal to their customers.

He also picked up on another sound that turned out to be a worn water pump. He also helped us replace the brakes. He took the time to show us the old vs new parts, helping us see and understand the issues. His transparency and technical knowledge gave us full confidence in his work. Not only is Aaron skilled and experienced (15 years of experience), but his pricing is also very reasonable. He never tried to upsell unnecessary work and focused only on what needed to be done to maintain our car. He also worked to find better pricing on parts to accommodate our budget since we decided to take care of a lot of maintenance with him. We are grateful to have found Aaron and will definitely be relying on him for all future maintenance, oil changes, and any repairs needed on our car.

We came in this morning to get a flat tire repaired, and we were told it would be done within two hours. After waiting three hours without a single call, text, or update, we decided to go back and check on our car ourselves. When we arrived, it was still sitting in the exact same spot.. it hadn't even been moved. We spoke to the staff, and they told us they would bring it in and start working on it. We waited an hour (4 hours now) inside, and they still never brought the car into the shop. At that point, we decided to leave and take our business somewhere else because Big O Tires clearly couldn't follow through on what they promised. Trash! To make matters worse, they tried to sell us on replacing all four tires, claiming they weren't "right fit," even though we only came in for a flat tire. It felt more like they were trying to upsell us than actually help. Overall, the service was disappointing, the communication was nonexistent, and the experience felt dishonest. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone.
