Our friend recommended this mechanic when my 11 year old Audi needed service. I'm so glad I went here instead of getting hustled yet again at the local Audi dealership. Anthony at AR Performance was thorough, knowledgeable, straightforward, fair, and prompt. Pricing for a diagnostic scan, inspection, and the service he performed was on par with other places. What I really appreciated was how he didn't just do the bare minimum and call it good. He used high quality parts, did several other small courtesy services I was surprised and grateful for, and offered to recheck the diagnostic codes for free after my next thousand miles or so, just to be thorough. It's a small shop but he's not cutting corners like chain places often do. We'll definitely take our cars here in the future, even for simple oil changes. read more

Was referred to this shop by Steele Electric,,,, Acura air conditioning was not working and other auto repair shops were unable to diagnose the problem,,,, took Rob about 2 hours,, he replaced several relays under the dash and my air conditioning is good to go!!!! Also had him recharge my air conditioning on a Honda accord . Price was 110. I called around later on and found the price to be on the lower end of the spectrum from what others wanted. Some shops wanted as much as 180 to 240 to do what Anthony did for 110.... It is a little hole in the wall shop,,, a little hard to find,,,, but after seeing them fix the Acura air conditioning that the other bigger shops on the main street in Elk Grove were unable to diagnose... They have earned my respect and I will continue to send them my cars for any repair. It is never how modern or big the shop is,,, it is how knowledgeable the mechanic is. It is about ethics, being truthful with the customer and not selling him a repair he doesn't need. Hard these days to find people with these qualities. They are worth the call... their price won't break the bank and the quality of work is a step above the rest as far as I am concerned. read more

My motorhome side window disappeared into the door & would not go back up. I didn't know if it broke or what. They got me in the next day & gave me the pricing over the phone, but when it was done, they only charged me for 1 1/2 hours instead of the 2 they had quoted me. They also showed me the part that had failed in the window. I feel I was treated fairly & definitely would recommend them. They are in Old Town & is a small business, where you know if they were dishonest they would not stay in business long. read more

I have been taking my family's vehicles there since before 1998. 1998 Dodge pick up truck, Nissan Altima, Kia Optima, Ford ranger, 2008 Dodge pick up truck (four-wheel-drive). Sometimes I had my vehicles under warranty and had to take them to the dealership. If the dealership wasn't working out properly, I would bring the vehicles to AR Performance. There have been so many times that Robert has taken the time to help me out with vehicle problems. He helped my wife and son with their myriad of vehicle issues as well. In addition he helped one of my work friend's son with his vehicle (young man didn't have much money and Robert spent his own time and cheap labor charge to help get his vehicle functioning). Many times he put in extra time that he did not charge us for. Mechanic work is like healthcare. It's often hard to find and diagnose some of the problems. But Robert and Anthony have been honest and forthright about each problem and the amount of time that they spend on my vehicles. Great place to do business with. read more

Still having our vehicles regularly serviced at AR Performance and their work is second to none. We drive older cars and the only problems we have is when component wear out and need to be replaced like the battery or alternator, etc. AR Performance really knows how to keep a customer coming back year after year. Great auto repair shop. They take care of my 1991 Civic wagon and my 2004 Prius. I was very impressed when Rob took me on an inspection tour of my Civic on the rack and pointed out each maintenance issue. I had been taking it to another garage but they weren't doing such a great job. Since taking it to AR Performance, the Civic is running almost as good as when I bought it in about 1992. The Prius hasn't needed much, but Rob and Kyle make sure it stays that way. Very courteous, honest and reasonably priced. read more

I found this place years ago from an online search after we were paying out the wazoo for our car repairs at the dealer. Rob had been an absolute savior for our cars. He does his best to always take care of us and our cars. He basically brought back my car to life. He ended up calling my car a tank from all that I have put it through. My car is now happily named Tanq. These 3 guys are always reliable and will get you the best quality of service for the price. They will also go out of their way to ensure they repair your car right and will even wait for you too if by chance your car dies on the road on a weekend. This review is long overdo but I thought I would give it anyway. I have brought my Honda to Rob about 3 or 4 times and he is very good at what he does, he is friendly and always fixes my car quickly. I trust him to do the work that needs to be done and know that he is not going to charge me crazy amounts or charge me for things I do not need. The only down side that I can think of is that the place that they sublet my transmission job to messed up on the work and my car had some issues because of it but Rob had the work redone at no cost to me...Thank you guys your doing a great job! read more

Where do I begin. I have taken my car to Robert for about 2 (two) years now and, I receive nothing but exceptional service each and every time I go. As a single mom that has to worry about being taken advantage of by mechanics telling me I need things done to my car that really don't need to be done (and this has happened a lot), I know for a fact that when I take my car to Robert he will not only tell me the truth about what REALLY needs to be done to my car, but he backs up the work that he does I drive a Volvo that has 110,000 miles on it. I need this car to last until my daughter is out of daycare as I truly cannot afford a car payment. Robert (and Anthony) have done everything they can to ensure I will have my car for another 100,000. In addition to having the comfort of reliability - I am amazed at how sincere, dedicated, and truly talented Robert is. As mentioned above, I am a single mom, so getting my car to the shop is quite an excursion for me. Robert picks my car up from my job, and delivers it back to my job when it is finished. My father wrecked that front of my car, and it was leading to more problems than I had anticipated. After Robert had referred me to an exceptional body shop we realized that the wreck had caused issues to the computer in my car. Robert picked my car up from school, and went through the entire thing with a fine tooth comb to figure out why I was having issues (that included hand tightening about 60 parts on the computer) - knowing I was a single mom with no way to work or to take my child to school, he came to my work, dropped off his personal car, and kept mine overnight so he would have the opportunity to put more miles on the car to ensure he had fixed the problem. Every person I talk to is quick to say, "oh, well you're single." No, Robert is happily married with five beautiful children - he did all of this because he believes in his work, he believes in treating his customers with care, he believes in fostering relationships not making a quick dollar, he believes in his reputation, he believes in building a business that will last a lifetime. If you are looking for a mechanic you can trust (and let's be honest, that is hard to come by), and someone that you know will have the experience and expertise to fix your car call Robert and Anthony. Went to this place to get a diagnostic on my car for a small shake during shift. I did plenty of research on forums about a known issue with the car. The diagnostic contained airing up my tires, a ecu check for codes and a test drive only to tell me the transmission is bad and it will cost 5,000. to fix it. I asked specifically to look at my front axle, cv joints and wheel bearings as it feels like there is a issue in the front of my car but nothing was said or checked. 120. fee out the door for thing that I could do myself at home with my ecu code reader, air compressor with tire gauge, and my test drive daily. They had my car from 9am-4:45pm just to give me this information. Wish I would have used my money towards fixing things on my car somewhere else. read more

These guys are awesome. My wife and two small kids broke down 400 miles from home and were turned down by 4 mechanics while sitting on the side of the freeway. Run these guys are suppose to be an honest repair shop. We were referred by a family friend and have had nothing but poor things to report. We have taken two of our family cars to Anthony at Performance and have been really disappointed. We have heard really good things about Rob though. 1st car diagnosed as having a bad battery. Performance replaced the battery $$$. We take car to another shop and they say the alternator is bad causing the battery to run down. This is after Performance charged us for a new battery and diagnosis $$$. We gave them the benefit of the doubt on this one. Things happen and the battery was due. BUT this one takes the cake! Our daughters vehicle was not shifting according to her. She takes her vehicle to Performance and have them check it out. They find nothing wrong with the vehicle after driving it around town. They hook up the vehicle to their computer to check for error codes and check the brakes. Nothing to report from either. They are quick to quote a new transmission for $3600 but not sure if that is the problem. Scares the pants off our daughter since she is starting college in two weeks. The problem seems to be intermittent they say. The transmission bands/seals heat up and start slipping but they cant be certain. They want to service transmission for $375. Okay I get that. More beating around the bush service stuff which is not addressing the issue just driving up the cost. My point exactly "Fluff". Daughter drives home 5+ miles and car is overheating. I drive it around the block and find the front brakes are gripping and we take it to another repair shop and they replace the master cylinder and we are all good. I am just BENT that after taking two of our family vehicles to Performance we have to turn to another shop to get the job done. Time and Money Wasted! Makes me really question our first run in with Performance with our alternator/battery issue. It makes ONE WONDER whats going on with these guys. I have NO confidence in AR Performance. Moved on to new repair shop I suggest you do the same. read more
