Took my CCW renewal course from Mr. Shank. I really liked the lively presentation style he had. As…read moresome of the material having to do with concealed carry can be a bit dry it makes the time go by quickly. He still kept it serious where needed as this is a serious subject. He got through the material and kept us on schedule and as a busy person I appreciated that a lot. Would recommend him unreservedly. The one minor negative (which is really not anyone's fault in fairness) was because of the classroom being above the shooting range ( a good thing as you get to do your qualifying shoot straightaway without having to change locations) it was a little hard to hear the presentation at times from the noise below. As I said, it was only a minor negative as Gary was very skilled to pause as needed if he was making an important point and it got too loud. The fee for the course was also quite fair and a good value as I looked at other offerings for double + the $'s !

We had folks next to us that were not handling their guns properly and boy are they on it. I might like an outdoor range next time as this place can seem very intimidating. Although I have experience hunting, being around guns much of my life, and previously had a CCW it was in a revolver and I just got a Hellcat 9MM and wanted to become well-versed in this firearm and better at shooting. Highly recommend the class! Everyone in my class (from all walks of life and backgrounds) was very grateful and felt confident afterwards and had fun. A limit of 6 in this class helps one on one attention.

Crucible Consulting with Daniel Bales as your instructor is TOP NOTCH! I had Daniel as an…read moreinstructor five years ago when I obtained my CCW permit for the first time. I absolutely loved my experience back then. Little did I know that not all classes are the same. I had no idea how much I would come to appreciate the experience I had learning from Daniel all those years ago. I was up for renewal and also have a friend that was looking to get her permit for the first time. I decided to take a class with her so she had someone with her to share the experience. We tried a local business by signing up for a First Time Gun Owner class to build her confidence. That was a HUGE mistake. That experience came close to talking her right out of wanting to continue the course of gun ownership or her CCW permit. I promised her that Daniel was a great instructor. He is very thorough, patient and kind. He helps you understand why it is important to do things correctly and safely and gives you confidence to keep trying until you finally get it. He lets you know that it's okay to not be perfect and the importance of practice, practice, practice to help you get better and better at things. People may think that they will go somewhere else because it is cheaper. All I can say, is you get what you pay for. You cannot go wrong taking a class with Daniel and the other instructors at Crucible Consulting. He makes the eight hours fly with all of the great information but also making it fun. Don't tell him, but he's pretty funny, too. I promise you, you will be happy you took this class with Crucible Consulting and Daniel Bales. I felt the need to share this positive review because of the negative experience I had somewhere else. I want everyone that reads reviews to know that you should not go anywhere else besides Crucible Consulting. They are truly the BEST.

There was minimal to no assessment of my injury and I wound up sidestepping/ sliding/ skinning back to the car a few miles away with essentially minimal help/support. When I mentioned that I couldn't bear weight on my injured ankle I was instead given advice to "keep your weight forward and lean into the fall line". I was in a mild to moderate degree of shock by the time I reached my car. No one outreached me afterward. When I reached out to Tahoe Mountain School after the event with some constructive feedback the response that I received was " Sorry, we heard that the issue was due to lack of skier ability". I'll be the first to admit that my skiing ability was indeed severely compromised by a fractured ankle that required surgery but somehow they seemed to miss the point about doing a basic assessment. As a physician and SAR volunteer (unknown to those in the class) I'd grade the response to real life backcountry injury an "F" and the company's response to feedback as tone deaf.
