When I came for treatment, this person scarred my face. Prior to treatment, I asked her if she was familiar with doing darker skin and asked if there would be any scarring. She assured me that there would be no scarring. She said that she had worked on African Americans before and never had a problem. I've suffered since I was a teen with extremely thick armpit hair that I could never shave properly without cutting myself...so I gave up and just never EVER wore tank tops or went swimming. Literally. A few years back, I started considering electrolysis but was always worried about the pain and expense. In the end, I had a consultation with Kirsten and decided to go ahead and try it after her very thorough and clear explanation of what would happen, what could potentially go wrong, and how long it would take. So how did it go? Friends, I now wear tank tops and swim with reckless abandon! It's taken about two years (minus a self-imposed pause during covid) but my armpit hairs are barely there now and are much thinner when they regrow. And even though that seems like a long time, after sessions with Kirsten, I was hairless (or nearly hairless) for weeks until the hair started growing again. So the benefits start early; you don't have to be "finished" to be a lot happier. Finally, I have to comment on Kirsten herself. Having tried everything to get rid of unwanted hair, I am so happy that I gave electrolysis a chance. Kirsten is very knowledgable and explained the process to me. I was scared it would hurt but it really does not, unless you are going for removal of the very upper lip ( which I do now) but Kirsten is patient and you will get through it! The pain is non existent for chin hair, breast hair and most facial hair!!! The office is VERY clean, and peaceful. There's life before Kirsten and life after Kirsten! Before Kirsten, I had tried every method to remove unwanted facial hair. Absolutely nothing worked and I was at my wits end. Then I found Kirsten, and with that came electrolysis, the only method that has truly worked at effectively removing my facial hair. If you are considering electrolysis, I would highly recommend Kirsten. She is not only effective at electrolysis, but she is also a great esthetician that has given me great skin care tips as well. A few tips and things to remember: 1) electrolysis is a process; you won't walk in and after 5 sessions, be done. I'm on month 8 and my facial hair is now starting to grow back after two weeks (when I first started it was after two days). The process can take up to 1-2 years depending on your hair, but keep in mind towards the end you only go once every few months, if that. 2) it hurts quite a bit, but it's doable. I have a low pain tolerance so I purchased numbing spray with 10 mg of lidocaine and I spray it on the area right before Kirsten starts and it takes some of the pain away. 3) do NOT pluck in between. You are paying for Kirsten's skills and experience. She is very thorough, getting hairs I did not notice, and she really has her clients' best interests in mind. This process requires a lot of trust, and I'm worried I won't find another person like her when I move. Get a consultation with her, and you can decide whether to trust her with your skin and hair or not. I came to her after doing more research and she properly educated me on electrolysis. I wish I came to her first before spending money and putting in time with Eden Electrolysis, which I do NOT recommend when they use thermolysis and are not afraid to amp the settings that can cause intense, hyperpigmentation/saggy skin. I had A LOT of underarm hair and this treatment definitely worked. It took 3 weeks to grow back and there's a clear permanent reduction in hair. Also, it's surprisingly not too painful compared to when I had thermolysis. Ok so I don't really know where to start. I have never in my life experienced a behavior like this. I began coming to Kristen in February of 2021. I have had some facial hair that I'm obviously self conscious about. So I came to Kristen hoping she could help. She was really nice and welcoming on our first visit. I was happy because I thought I'd found someone to help me. I struggle with vertigo and can't lay flat so I bring a small massage table pillow. She just started making little comments about my pillow and how it ruins the positioning of her arms. I would just stretch my neck side to side to try to help her but her comments started to become a bit mean. She actually told me she doesn't look forward to our appointments and can't wait for them to be over. She would then say, I cause her to have a pinched nerve in her back and she has to "crawl " to her chiropractor after each one of our appointments. She even cussed at one point and shouted that her arms are so "f******" high! I grew up with a blunt family so I just kinda thought she was just a girl who was a little rough around the edges and maybe a bit on the dramatic side. Just with the way she would say it. I just kept quiet and took in what she had to say but I must admit it started to having me feel uncomfortable and I started to dread the appointments as well. It was painful after all, and it doesn't help when the person who your trusting and paying to help you is making you feel insecure about even being there at all. Our appointment we had was today. I had come back because she missed a section on our last appointment and blamed my vertigo/ position I was in. I thought I'd be a little talkative and mention that I went to the Dr and found out the reason for my facial hair growth. She sounded completely annoyed to hear me speak and just would say "mhumm mmmhummm" dramatically after each thing I said and then tells me she can no longer work on me and after this appointment I'm not welcome back because of my pillow. So now I have to find someone else and maybe it did hurt her back but I'll never forget how she made me feel. I just thought she was a bit ruthless overall and I couldn't imagine treating any of my clients this way especially if it's a medical condition they can't control. On the bright side, I do think she does a really good job, I was starting to see improvements aside from everything else. I was really disappointed I had to get dropped before we were done. She said it could take 1-2 years to be completed and we were barley creeping up to month 3. I Just obviously felt unliked so that was a bummer. All for a pillow. read more

Five stars for Kirsten! Laser Shmaser.... I had a bad experience with it in the past and was afraid of further hyperpigmentation (I'm Indian). Electrolysis worked for me when I first tried it seven years ago, so I decided to go for it again. Kirsten to the rescue! Although always apprehensive whenever starting new beauty treatments, Kirsten totally put me at ease. She immediately got me scheduled, and discussed all of the pros/cons/side effects with me, and we decided for the Blend technique. We have been working together for about a month and a half and I love the results! Kirsten has always been honest with her time frame to expect true results (four months to a year) and I am happy with her skill and friendly personality. I have been seeing her about once a month for a year and have seen a huge difference. Even though she warns you about possible side effects etc, I was very lucky to never have experienced any. Kirsten deserves 5 stars hands down for her electrolysis services. She is very understanding and works with whichever heat and strength suits her customer best. When I tried laser hair removal before being introduced to electrology, the hair removal specialists failed to give me a thorough explanation of how it works and when or even if I am to see permanent hair loss. Laser hair removal is not a guaranteed permanent hair removal treatment and unfortunatelly it took me almost 20 treatments on each area to realize that most of the hairs simply grow back after a certain amount of time. Kirsten did a great job at explaining to me every step of the process to permanently removing each hair follicle and I can actually SEE the results. I had laser done on my chin...and needless to say, IT is NOT the thing to do. I developed some heavy duty thick hairs and it was horrifying! Had to shave every day. The laser treatments stimulated the hairgrowth. DON'T laser your face!! EVER! I was desperate for help and Kirsten came to my rescue. I was nervous about starting electrolysis because I am sensitive about hygiene and had some bad experiences in the past. Kirsten is great! She uses a new needle each time, wipes clean and disinfects everything between patients and always wears gloves and a mask.
