I have used them many times and have never been late. Most recently I was running late to my appointment due to a work call I could not leave. As soon as my call ended I called to see if I could reschedule/ move around and was told they were busy the rest of the day, fair enough. When I asked if I could avoid being charge $20 he said I would have to talk to the Barber. I asked if I could speak to the barber and told no... no blankly... I'd have to come in next time to talk with him. My response I'm do not want to come in and get charged double for a haircut if I can't talk to him before hand. His response "fine..." and then blank silence... Not really upset about the $20, but extremely rude customer service... Will be going to Men's Parlor from now on. They have always been extremely friendly and just as good of a cut! read more

The customer service here is backwards. They put themselves before their customers. They have no problem making you wait past your appointment time, but if you are 2 mins late then they charge you and make you reschedule. Overpriced as well. But they market to hipsters so some guys will put up with it. read more

I'm an Atlanta native and have ventured to a few barbershops, this being my first time at Freedom Barber. My go-to is Barbaeria in Marietta--the best I've been to yet. Simply put: Terrible. I asked specifically for: A pompadour style, with a fade that blends into the sides with no apparent lines, and a small cleanup on top--maintenance only. Let's discuss the results: As I was getting my haircut, I had to watch the other barbers across from me at work as my barber (Barber #1) never turned my chair around once to see what he was doing. First, barber #2 left a huge apparent line in the fade on the poor guy in front of me. I wanted to say something I felt so bad for him. Barber #3's fade was extremely blotchy. And as he is cutting my hair without my ability to see what he was doing, barber #4 shouts to the front guy: "Hey did that guy on the phone go to another barber to get his haircut fixed?" This is when I started to get nervous. Results: pompadour style gone, crew cut now, terrible fade as the line is evident all the way around, and he didn't blend the sides into the top AT ALL. It looks like I have a helmet on my head. Freedom Barbers -- I say this objectively... Please, please TRAIN your barbers on how to do proper fades. It is absolutely critical to improve that craft. I recommend training with Latin barbers as they generally are better at fades since it has been in their culture for a longer time. Secondly, when someone says a clean-up, that means taking the split-ends off; not half an inch. Lost $30 as I will have to go to my barber and beg to have it fixed. Rule of thumb -- if you have a good barber, do not try another for convenience. read more

Though in the rare instance that Sponsel was unavailable, the other barbers are super talented and can get you looking right in no time. Make sure to book an appointment! But then I found Freedom Barber Company, unexpectedly, while perusing the ridiculously incredible localness sold throughout Paris on Ponce. Like, wow. I want to live there. Hmm, maybe not. But, I'd seriously consider it! My hair would look on point all the time. That's for sure! Freedom resides on the East Side of the building and has been open for only a few months (closing on three at the time of this review), but they're already making some buzz. Their unit within Paris on Ponce, with newly constructed wooden walls and large panes of glass, seems as if they revamped the old-school barbershop feel and service aka blending providing new-style and timeless cuts while respecting the traditions and meticulous care and work of the old. Sean, a fellow Midwesterner from Cleveland, took care of my head. He asked what I wanted, and he responded with more questions in order to precisely know how to cut it. He slowly shaved my sides, trimmed the top, took a more precise unit of clippers for the details, and woulllah! I felt fresh as hell. ***Does the Dougie.*** He's also a cool dude to chat with. I also asked for some pomade, and put a fingertip full of Layrite Cement in my hair to pull it back. Great stuff! Regarding the cost, it set me back about $30. Even though that's a bit more than what I'm used to paying, it's definitely worth the premium for my lady's compliment, the one from the random woman in the "Home" section at Target, and others. I truly enjoy getting my haircut here. I've been here a couple of time and have gotten my hair cut by a couple of the barbers with great results. Don't forget to make an appt in advance, because this is really the best way to guarantee get a time that you want a haircut. I came here twice to get my haircut because it came recommended. The first time, I told the barber exactly what I wanted done. It looked okay when I left the shop, but I did not get a shampoo rinse because I was not paying extra for it. When I got home and redid my hair after a shower it looked terrible and was not what I asked for at all. I decided to give this place another chance. I went back and showed the barber pictures of exactly what I wanted done. He cut my hair so poorly. It was not even, choppy, and faded incorrectly. I got my haircut fixed at another salon, and the stylist there told me it was was one the worst haircuts she has ever seen before. I couldn't believe how cool this place looked as I was walking my dog down the belt line the other day. I even told my wife when I got home how I couldn't wait to go to an actual man-barber shop and get a decent cut. But...much like the beef-jerky bar over at Ponce City Market, I ended up walking home empty handed wondering how in the f'k someone could screw up such a fantastically manly idea with such a shitty customer service experience. Let me preface by saying that I never actually made it in to experience the "new twist on an old school artistry" as exclaimed on the sign...right next to the "walk-ins-wecome" sign in 12 inch tall letters on the front glass. I walked over there around 12:30PM happily expecting a high end experience and was elated to find the, as mentioned earlier, giant fonted "Walk Ins Welcome" sign on the glass (see picture). So, I patiently sat outside in line with another guy who was waiting for a cut. The man-buns and lumberjack beards were thick up in hya' and I knew it would be cool. After 30 minutes and two people coming in for their cuts, the coolness began to wear off quickly. When two of the three barbers finished their clients, one went to lunch and the other fiddled around cleaning his gear for a while. So, I waited patiently while reviewing their business cards and fliers available on the table outside...all of which prominently featured "Walk-Ins-Welcome" on them. 40 minutes into my quest for a trim, I decided to stick my head in the door and let the barber know that I was waiting for a walk in appointment. (seemed kind of obvious to me) Now, don't get me wrong, the guy was friendly and all, but he proceeded to tell me that they were booked and that they weren't taking any walk ins...even though the other barber was still cleaning his combs or whatever, without a client. I was told that I would have to make an appointment online for a haircut and that they might be able to see me around 4PM (3 hours later). When I pointed at the gigantic sign saying "walk-ins-welcome", (did I mention that sign?), he told me that it was really expensive to have these window signs changed followed by a couple "I feel ya, man"s that did nothing to assuage my frustration. Cutting my mostly bald head would have been the easiest $35 and $20 tip that any of these One Direction coiffed dudes would have ever made in the hair business, but alas, it was not to be. The amount of work necessary to turn a visit into this manly hair salon tucked into my cool intown neighborhood into a shitty Yelp review is pretty sizable, but they did it. Apparently, the "new twist" talked about on the sign is complete indifference to waiting customers. What would Floyd the barber say in Mayberry, I ask, what would Floyd say, indeed? Is it too much to ask that someone manage what's going on there or maybe put up a note saying "please make an appointment" or "appointments only" ? I've been to this barber three times, the first two times he showed up 15 minutes late then on the third time I was a couple minutes late because I went back to my car to grab my mask and he had the audacity to scold me for wasting his time. If you want to listen to 5 bros talk about dumb shit for 45 minutes this is your place. Cheapest barbershop in this area, but you certainly get what you pay for. I'm not sure what crawled up Stephen R's hind quarters and died, but I can't help but notice that his review is not only the sole 1-star review I can find for Freedom Barber, but his whole story features only the mildest bit of initiative on his part. The shop is laid back, the staff is friendly and talented, and while walk ins are welcomed, it's a small shop with just three barbers. It shouldn't take anyone 40 minutes of waiting around to decide to step inside and inquire about making an appointment, or to ask about availability. Freedom Barber is popular guys and gals, so don't take it personally if you aren't able to be seen right when you decide you want to walk in! As for the shop itself, those that bother to call ahead or book appointments can always expect to get in and out quickly, with a killer cut or trim, and to enjoy a relaxing time while you're in the chair. Ignore the trolls, and the fistfuls of 1-star reviews they leave. That data isn't useful, particularly when the troll has barely stepped into the shop. Best haircut I've ever gotten *in my life* I came here at the recommendation of another Yelper (shoutout to you, Jonathan T!) and was blown away. Located inside "Paris on Ponce" this small boutique barber shop only has five or six chairs. Sean was my barber and did a fantastic job. Oh, and did I mention they have free beer? The vibe is super laid back and everyone is super accommodating. The prices are fair and the results are incredible. My only complaint (if you can call it that) is they fill up quickly and it can be challenging to get a last minute appointment. Best barber in Atlanta, I've been going to see Matt for a few years now and have watched them grow up from Paris on Ponce to the Studioplex and they now have a home on the Beltline. They stick to their schedule, I don't often have to wait and if I do...there is cold beer in the fridge waiting for me. I don't have a lot of hair but Matt always makes what I have left look great. Lots of guys with great hair are in Freedom getting they hair did too. They do hot lather shaves, fades, beard trims, the whole nine. Make an appointment online, show up, catch up on just about any current event with the guys in the shop while enjoying a complementary drink, and walk out 30 minutes later with a great haircut! I happened to stumble across this place shortly after moving to Atlanta last year. I was worried about being able to find "my" barber in a new city, as I had gone to see the same barber in Orlando for 5 years before I moved here. Enter Freedom Barber Co. I walked in, and was immediately and warmly greeted. Even though I was a walk-in, I was seen to very quickly, and received a phenomenal haircut! Its been almost a year now, and I haven't looked back since. In the sake of fairness, it's not all roses. I've been looking for a great barber in Atlanta and finally found one. After shopping around the city and being a crash test dummy for my own experiment I finally found a barber I can trust to get me looking right like maybe only one other person in this region. I choose to go to Freedom because Brandon has some truly divided skills when it comes to his competition. What I like most about Brandon is that he cuts super quick without any compromise in his abilities to deliver the best. The kid has mad skills, speed and a very great conversation through the process. Freedom Barber Company also has the most reasonable prices in town. It's straight up located smack dab in the middle of the city right next to Ponce City Market and that would typically encourage a price gouge like other companies inside the perimeter of Atlanta. My price for a "foil fade" or shin fade is only $30 and it only takes 30 minutes or less to get it cut. My recommendation is to go check Brandon out specifically at this shop because you will probably change your current provider just to get the best cut, greatest location and the cheapest prices/most bang for your buck! Been getting my haircut here faithfully for almost 3 years. They just implemented making you put your credit card info in to book and appointment. I totally spaced and booked the wrong day and was considered a no show and was charged $20 for not showing. Called and they said sorry not sorry. Welp that was my last time I will ever schedule an appointment here. I would have gladly tipped to compensate for me making a mistake and booking the wrong day. Instead of doing this to loyal customers how about taking a walk in when your appointment is late. Instead you charge your loyal customers $20 and you haven't done anything. A walk in came in at 4:05 and my barber took him before me!!!!! Ok, I was there first and I love sitting around ? Got a GREAT haircut here. One of the best fade I've ever had to be honest, the only issue I had was I wasn't offered a shampoo, as their website and yelp both say are included, and when asked if I wanted to cut any off the top I asked for it to be thinned a bit or textured, and as I was asking my barber had another appointment walk in, I guess he just forgot to thin it or texturize it because he just put gel in and styled it for me. Wish I didn't have to go home and wash it because it looks so good but Ive got hair all over now :( read more

It's been a some time since my last visit, but I think the neck shave was at times done with an electric razor, which always disappointing due to the traditional shop vibe and modern twist.
