2nd day in Atlanta, and the morbid incompetence by "my people" continues. My barber in LA was out so i decided to get a haircut when i landed in atl. Booked an appointment with carter. On IG, Yelp & Google...carter is pictured professionally...nice shirt...barber apron. But nah... My guy came through in a durag, plain white tee, and sweats with beats studio headphones on like he just woke up, got into with his baby moms or something and then headed here. We re-confirmed the haircut style i wanted and proceeded. I even showed this mongoose a sample picture. I noticed i was faced away from the mirror (but didn't fret due to the amazing google reviews). During the haircut..homie would sporadically walk away for 10 mins at a time sans any communication. Other barbers did this as well while cutting other's hair. When i finally got around to seeing the mirror, i realized this humanoid fucked up my shit by cutting my hair so low..essentially a caesar. In what universe does a low frohawk (AFRO MOHAWK) mean REMOVE the afro? And this dreg decides to charge a "discounted rate" of $40? My barber in LA charges $25. My barber in NYC charges $15 and they both do quality work and take half the time. He also cut me while shaping up my beard. I sent my homie in nyc a pic of this cut and he was crying in laughter. Straight jokes. Good thing i paid with a credit card. Will chargeback on this shit when i get back to LA. read more

I found this shop on line about three months ago and randomly picked Carter. I've been pleased with his cutting skills, but I believe he needs to mature in the area of professionalism. Based on the site's information, my first appointment should have been at a new customer discounted rate. After my cut, when I asked him how much, he told me $40. I tipped and left. When I got home I looked and it was supposed to be $30. I didn't sweat it because the fade was bomb, but I didn't forget. The cut I got prior to today, Carter kept walking away as if he had something else going on and at one point he left for about 10-15 minutes. He didn't tell me he was leaving and returned with no explanation. I didn't say anything, but didn't appreciate it. Today, I thought, if this doesn't go right I'm finding another barber. After booking, I was text'd the automatic message-Please wait in car, we'll text/call you when ready! My appointment was at 2:45, so I got there at 2:35 and waited in the car. At 3:01 I received a message "WYA"? Where you at? 16 minutes after my appointment I get WYA? Not, I'm running over, Sorry for the wait, I'm ready for you, You can come up now...no, WYA....Like he's been waiting on me and I'm following instructions. When I arrived in the shop the other barbers greeted me properly, but Carter kind of walked by and mumbled. Then, when I got to the chair there was hair on the floor and foot platform. I asked if he was going to clean it off. That made me wonder if he disinfected the seat and apron from the last customer. He begrudgingly swept it up and then I felt like he had an attitude with me because I expected a clean area in such a nice shop. If this is an appointment-only shop, then keep the time, if not, at least apologize for running late. We all understand this type of service can at times take longer. This is no reflection on the other barbers, but If I'm made to feel like my time isn't valued somewhere, I have to find another shop where it is. read more

Make an appointment. This is an appointment only shop, and Mike (My barber) is usually booked out at least 2 to 3 weeks. But he is well worth the wait! Hes punctual, and professional, and takes all major credit cards. He consults before cutting and takes his time.... and I don't know about you but I appreciate a gentle touch! I went to Carter for my big chop and I am in love with the results. I was extremely nervous because I had never cut my hair this short but I am very happy I went to Ideal Barbershop. All of the barbers are extremely friendly and Carter paid close attention to what I wanted my cut to look like. Also, I did not have to wait at all and my appointment was nice and short. In addition, the shop has a great atmosphere! The oil diffuser and music playlist were my two favorite aspects of the shop on top of the fact that the whole shop was very clean and tidy. There are not enough stars to rate this barbershop! I went to get my 2nd big chop after being recommended and checking them out online. The booking was so incredibly easy and when I needed to reach out to the business right after I booked (I forgot to tell them it was a big chop) the owner, Mike worked with me and assured me that it was no problem. He was so personable over the phone. He told me who would be cutting my hair as I had not chosen one during the booking process. When I arrived, Newland (my barber) asked me a few questions and we discussed my service and what I was expecting. Back track...when I spoke with Mike, he asked if I knew what I wanted and if I had a picture if the style so he could send it to Newland. Now for where I left off. Newland pulled up the picture to make sure that the style he had be sent was what I wanted. He started cutting until he got close to the length I wanted. Fast forward to the end of the haircut, he did a PHENOMENAL job! I can't stop smiling! This shop is by appointment only and they are following COVID protocol. It is a small intimate shop with a very professional team. The other barber was working with another customer and even though I didn't see him when he got there, he looked awesome when he left! Living in Atlanta it's super hard to find a reliable barber. You either get a barber that just can't get your hair right, or one who is very unprofessional. But finally I've found the perfect barber setting. I've been going to mike for almost a year now and I can honestly say that I have not had one hair cut I wasn't pleased with. He is a genius with clippers. The atmosphere in the shop is relaxing and professional. You feel welcomed as soon As you come through the door.
